Since I am not the original owner it is not covered under warranty, which I had suspected they were going to say. They did say they had only heard of the issue I had only once before. Now they have heard of twice . Options are to send it to them and see if they can fix it for $89.95 with a year warranty. The other option is the trade it in for a 10% discount. The damage may be covered under my comprehensive policy . We'll know more Monday afternoon. At least that will pay for some of the items I replaced.
