Vacuum

My previous vacuum gave up the ghost. I was hesitant to get a bag-less vacuum but got a Shark - Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe Bagless Upright Vacuum at Costco last year. I LOVE IT. It is light weight, cleans really well, is easy to empty, works great on carpet and bare floors and has a furniture brush and a crevice tool. The best feature especially for small spaces like an RV is the swivel flexibility to get under furniture and around corners. We have a closet across the front of our fiver and it fits easily in the middle.

If you have a central vac system consider going to a vac store or the internet for a long household vac hose with 120v AC power head. We have been using this setup for 4 years and are very pleased with the powerful beater bar head. Not cheap, I think it was ~$300 but worth it. Greg

I use a dyson stick at home, love it for the power and small size. Because we don't full time yet, I didn't want a wall recharging unit, no matter how small.

I too purchased the cheap dirtdevil, on sale for $20 bucks at wally world....works just great!

We love the Sharp Rocket, small, upright powerful vacuum. To empty, just unsnap the bottom of the hand unit. Can compact to just the hand held unit. We were so impressed, we brought one for the house.

I just purchased a bagless Dirt Devil Lite.(at Target) It is the perfect size for vacuuming alongside the bed, under the dinnette booth and store it right behind the passenger seat of the motorhome. Stands up nicely between the seatbelt holder and the window . Can't believe how much crud it got out of the carpet. I really like it so far.

We've been using a Dyson DC44 for more than 2 years and love it. We have a central vac which was decent but getting the hose out was a pain if all you wanted to do was clean up a small area. The Dyson has good power and now there's even one with an electrically powered head instead of the suction-powered one we have. Yes, it's a rechargeable but it has more than enough capacity to clean the entire MH from one end to the other on a single charge. I picks up an amazing amount of stuff.

We have a Dyson DC 42 pet for the house, and it beat the heck out of our Hoover. Then in looking for a smaller vacuum for the 28.5 foot 5th wheel, we bought a Shark Rocket. Our Dyson is less than six months old so we tested the Shark against it. We vacuumed one square yard of our carpet with our Dyson. Then not expecting much, we went over it with the Shark and we were, frankly, shocked at how much more it picked up the Dyson missed! It can hang in minimal space, important in an RV.

It has a no bag bucket that is tiny. It needs to be emptied a lot. That's a good thing. We got our refurbished by Shark and it was like new. Here's their page. Very versatile as you'll see by the video on the page: http://direct.sharkclean.com/products/shark-rocket-nls-vacuum-hv300/2/microsite/shark-rocket-nls-vacuum/

They can be had used cheap: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shark-HV300-Rocket-Ultra-Light-Upright-Vacuum/281748780428?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D32687%26meid%3Dc116afffdbe040df904481d6e8174094%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D221845199196

Or refurbed and new for cheap: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2053587.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xshark+rocket.TRS0&_nkw=shark+rocket&_sacat=0

I have the model HV 301, can't say how good the others are.

Wouldn't want the corded model if that's what you have. If our DC44 dies I'll replace it with the newer more powerful version, but we won't give up having a cordless. JMO

Joel,

DC42: http://www.dysoncanada.ca/en-CA/Vacuums/Upright/DC42.aspx

The Rocket can be seen in the link above. All are corded. We looked at the Dyson cordless and found it went only 10 minutes on a charge. No cordless for a main vacuum for us. We do have a neat Ryobi 18volt we use inside for quick pickups. But with two dogs that shed lots, we need power and as longer run times as needed. The Shark beat the full size Dyson. Both uprights, the Shark is compact and similar to the Dyson cordless in some ways, but corded. We got the Dyson factory refurbed with the Dyson 6 month refurb warranty for $199.99 on eBay. The Sharks also factory refurb from Choxi for $99.99 with only a 90day warranty, both worked out better than expected.
