PIPO X8 Mini TV BOX Windows 8.1 Android 4.4 Dual Boot Intel Z3736F Quad Core Media Player

Recommended Posts

I'm just passing this along for the weird device of the week consideration. It is a 1280X800 7" IPS touch screen mini computer. It has 32GB SSD and 2GB of RAM. It uses an Intel Atom Quad Core Z3736F SoC.

It has no battery and must be plugged in. It is angled with obvious counter top or TV stand use only. I could see it as a side table device with a long HDMI to connect it to TV.

It connects with both full size Ethernet cable, or built in WiFi. It can play media from USB external drives, SD cards, Internet wired or WiFi.

It has Windows 8.1 loaded as well as Android 4.4.

It costs $103.90

It is either the most useless, or useful, TV device made.

My impression is that it is a decent media box to make a smart TV out of a dumb TV. There are long videos on the sales page in Italian and Polish, but not in English. Good demos however.

For folks with Android who don't do Windows 8.1 this could be a good interim device.

It's called the Pipo X8 mini here: http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box/pp_184150.html

Because of it's tiny size, and USB inputs, this could make a good device for email and surfing at a smallish desk with a 1 TB 2.5" USB powered external drive. Full size keyboards and mice can be connected or like me and my tablets, I plug in a Logitech receiver and use a Logitech K-400 combo keyboard and touchpad. with its four USB 2.0 full size ports, and one micro USB port it could be a decent Internet device for one who loves Android 4.4, KitKat.

Jack? I know it is phones and you are Windows tablets. Could this be useful for RVrs as a combo stationary phone and tablet charging center, Internet device, and Media player with Internet or recorded movies on a hard drive?

I use my tablets when I want to play web based media not on my Fire TV in the main room. Or on my LG BluRay smart player. Or on my Roku 3 equipped quad HD 27" i7 system.

Like I said, weird product of the week.

This may be junk, it may be a mistake, but I just ordered the Voyo Windows 8.1 64GB in the second post above. It will take from 10-25 days since I took free shipping and the three dollar insurance.

I'll review it after it comes in. It will be for my fiver as a computer/TV additional source with a hard drive and my K400 keyboard. I may have wasted a C note, but I don't think so. I've wasted that once or twice before, but 99 times of 100, with mature tech like the Atom Z3735, I've made out very well.

Boy toys! My SH said. -_-;)
