Powerstroke
For those of you living in Ohio how are you getting around the requirement of "must not have a fifth wheel" to be considered an rv? Or are u just taking off the commercial hitch, getting it registered and then installing the smaller rv fifth wheel hitch? Or am I just reading the law completely wrong and all they want is no commercial fifth wheel hitch on the back of it?
NTPA Announcer
I'd say Commercial ? Denver and Ms Judy Geitgey 2006 VOLVO 780 41 ' Redwood NTPA Event Announcer dngeitgey@gmail.com
jkennell
Yes. The Commercial plate is what they mean. THe RV 5th hitch is not considered. But certainly couldn't hurt to get it licensed before you install the 5th hitch. No camper at present. Way too many farm machines to maintain. TomG100
The Ohio reg says 5th wheel hitch, not commercial 5th wheel hitch. I took my RV hitch off when I got it registered and then put it back on after I got the new title. It also says something like permanently installed cooking and/or refrigeration. I used a 12 volt hot plate and 12 volt refrig. I got the motorhome title with this setup, but it was a gray area to say the least. Noone really looked at the truck's interior but I know I got lucky. My hitch came off with one bolt. I left on the bracket holding the hitch. For the trouble of one bolt I thought why chance leaving the hitch on. http://www.tomandnanmariestravels.blogspot.com/
