2000 Avion Savanna 5th Wheel and 2006 Ford F350 Crew Cab Long Bed

Recommended Posts

We wanted to be fulltimers and were going to live on a shoestring. Moving from a moderate sized house to an RV was a little scary and since I was going to be working full time in the RV I needed space. We bought a used Avion Savanna and lived in it full time for about 7 years. It is still a good RV but now that we have permanently located in Durango Colorado, we no longer need it. It does need some TLC but will be a great home again for someone else, even as is. We have an awesome tow truck for sale as well.

Current location is Durango Colorado. Willing to trade for something smaller for weekend camping.

Very comfortable Avion Savanna 5th wheel. This was a high end model (approximately $65,000 new) with lots of oak cabinets, built in convection oven/microwave, desk across the width of the rig, queen sized bed, lots of storage (including pull out drawers in the kitchen area), and 3 slides. It has a peninsula kitchen counter with sink and two areas that pull up for additional counter space. Has a homey feel to it with the open living area and wood cabinets.

We lived in this full time comfortably for a number of years. It is priced as is, needs (primarily exterior) TLC.

Upgrades/Features

  • New batteries (May 2015).
  • We removed an ugly couch and replaced that with a desk that spans the rear of the unit. There is a 2 drawer file cabinet between the two work stations in the desk. I spent many hours working there and looking out the windows at scenery or wildlife. You could easily pull the desk and put a couch again.
  • The bedroom has a closet space with shelving across the width of the trailer. There is an additional wardrobe (see picture) for hanging clothes. (This rig has LOTS of storage!)
  • The refrigerator was repaired with a new coil system about 3 years ago.
  • There is a POWER AWNING that was added about 3 years ago and used only once or twice.
  • The heater was replaced about six years ago and had about 4 years usage. When we were in RV parks we usually used electric space heaters, so the overall use on the heater is low.
  • The water pump was replaced and the water heater was rebuilt.
  • The unit is plumbed to add a washer/dryer. We had one for a couple of years and then chose to use the space as storage. W
  • e replaced a leaf spring and have a spare.
  • Converted the single landing gear control to a dual control for the two legs.
  • Brakes replaced.
  • Roof was recently repainted with reflective paint to reflect the heat.
  • The main AC was replaced 3 years ago and hasn't been used much since then.
  • Commode replaced 2 years ago.
  • Added a number of coat hooks in living area and bedroom for coats, hats, dog leashes, etc.
  • Unit is plumbed for a washer/dryer!
  • Full cover, used this past winter only.
  • No leaks; smells good (not musty as many older models are).
  • Shower and flooring under stall repaired/replaced about 2 years ago. Only used a few months after that.
  • Has one ceiling fan.
  • Only needs 30 amp service.

Work needed:

  • Minor fiberglass repairs on exterior and paint.
  • It is missing one sliding closet door.
  • Replace parts on stove so it self-ignites (have the parts). You can light with a match as is.
  • Install the switch for electric awning (upgraded awning from manual to electric).
  • Replace some flooring in bedroom-optional (have flooring).
  • One ceiling panel needs to be reglued in living area (see pic).
  • Other very minor items.

We will continue repairs until it is sold. Book value is about $14,000, so additional work affects the price. Exterior work is beginning (buffing and patching/painting as needed). Price will increase when this is completed.

Although Avion chose to refer to it as 35', it is actually 37 feet long.

Empty weight is about 12,300 and total weight with propane, fresh and waste water, and belongings is about 12,400.

Price includes hitch and cover.

This is a great rig for either vacations or living full-time. You won't find many with this storage/space in this price range!
