wa_desert_rat
Ok... we all have multiple passwords (well, we *should* have multiple passwords) but in order to keep track of them we have to manage them somehow. There are various methods but unless you keep them all written on a note taped to your monitor they all involve some sort of a master password that gets you into a listing of passwords used on various sites. The downside to that system is that if someone can find the password to your password manager then they can get access to ALL your accounts handled by that manager. Some researchers thought they could come up with a better idea. They created an experimental password manager that gives potential hackers a list of fake passwords if they try to get in with the wrong one. Pretty smart, actually. Although a hacker might wonder why his first guess worked right off the bat; but maybe they've got that covered. skp51443
Neat idea, a honeypot for passwords! First rule of computer consulting: Sell a customer a Linux computer and you'll eat for a day. Sell a customer a Windows computer and you'll eat for a lifetime.
