Just a general shout-out for any of our lost members. Haven't heard from Bearman, mcoutre, and others. Just wondering if they still lurk here, or if anyone's in contact with them. I think Geo still reads, in between eating dates and sipping Mead while living the life of luxury in the Middle East. There's been a few questions coming out of British Columbia lately, but nobody from over there has chimed in. Haven't heard much coming out of Saskatchewan either. Was it Army that was having so much trouble backing his toyhauler onto his rear drive with a ZF M eritor in his truck? All you people have very valuable info for newcomers, so lets hear from you.

My truck is still in the shop. I was hoping to meet you at the ECR but between the truck not being ready and a health issue we couldn't go. Hope to make it to the National Rally this year.

There seems to be quite a few from Alberta here on the forum as I think it is one of the easier provinces for using a HDT for RV use or reclassifying as motorhome. I just read the rules in Quebec which makes it very hard to do what we're doing.

Hello from Saskatchewan!!

Since we joined your amazing forum, we have been able to glean some excellent information and tips for pretty-much anything that has to do with RVing. Although we have only posted once (so far), we hope to also contribute all that we are starting to learn on our adventures.

We joined the Dark Side in December 2014, when we flew to Ottawa and acquired the 2003 Volvo 770 and 2001 Yellowstone 5th wheel, as a package. Then, drove it to Saskatchewan in the dead of Winter (pretty uneventful trip). February - April 2015 we travelled down to Arizona and back. Only two small issues during the entire 11,000 kms, but were overcome without too much hardship. (We both still have the SMILE.... :))

Talk to you soon!! :D

I'm here, just quiet, back to my home base, busy with non-HDT related work.

Not too many Quebec based HDT'ers, mostly due to the rule changes in 2011.

Rick

Hey hey,

Glad to hear you are doing OK....

By the way, my HDT and 5th wheel are in the Yukon....in the summer, and AZ in the winter...they love it.. I miss it, but was time to move on, due to the economy.. :(

Enjoy,

Cheers,

Bob

Hey Darryl!

Definitely an infrequent lurker now-a-days especially since I'm out of Oil & Gas. M'bye FSJ, chaining-up and mud!

I haven't heard from Army for years. I don't recall the tranny he had anymore but I think getting stuck on wet grass was the last straw for him. Maybe he'll be back when he drives a Volvo with iShift? Geo let me drive his and man, it sure was sweet.

Haven't heard from Geo lately. Hopefully he chimes in too.

Been back from the ECR a month now and still working on the side yard filling in those awsome ruts I dug up pulling the fiver out for the ECR.

Maybe I should just plant some corn since it is kinda all ready plowed...LOL

Lost in Saskatchewan!

Had a great winter in the Yuma area.

Missed going to the Tucson Rally in March.

Going north to Alaska in June.

Back to Arizona in Oct. Hoping to take in the

Kansas Rally one of these years.

Darryl,

I looked at this link and it says no fifth wheel hitches and quite a list other items required.

As far as rule changes go, it is near impossible to register a Class 8 truck as an RV or motorhome anymore.

Even if you did re-fit the truck with a full shower & tanks, the bottom line is: NO 5th wheel hitch of any kind can be fitted.

You can still do what most of "us" want to do, but the operator will require a CDL, as well as heavy truck plates, inspections every year, and scale stops.

Only those of us who built our conversions prior to the rule change are exempt (grand-fathered rights).

Still here (when I can)

Been crazy busy gearing up the campground for the season.. Been doing lots of updates this spring.

Truck.. After my haul to the campground with about as much power as a nearly worn out 1/4 ton truck, I found out I had to replace my EGRS sooner then later (they weren't that bad last fall).. Pulled them out about 2 weeks ago and did the OTR egr delete. Seems to be working good now, but never took it for a drive yet. Well, except for a 100 ft drive to the shop area to start building my bed (seemed to have a lot of power). Have my bed framing 1/2 on as of yesterday and hoping to get more done this weekend. Just building a platform for now and eventually putting boxes underneath where the front axle was since I singled long. I will have enough room for the smart and a golf cart beside it,.

Soon as I finish the bed, I am going to be installing my side windows and then finish the interior.

Thanks

Jason
