Kinsa
Just drove through the FamCamp at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, yesterday. Looks nice. Paved, level, pull-thru sites. Lots of shade. Picnic tables with each site. Didn't get to see into the bath house, but it looked okay from the outside. Ray,IN
Wife loves the USAFA FamCamp. I like it, too. Nice mountain views. The NAS at New Orleans was o.k. Kirtland AFB camp in Albuquerque is a gravel parking lot. Same with Holloman in Alamogordo. The rally section of Kirtland famcamp is what you refer to, the old section has shade trees, grass, but the sites are for <40'. We stay there when attending the balloon fiesta, Kirtland runs a shuttle bus from the famcamp to balloon grounds every day, no driving your POV is necessary. 2000 Winnebago Ultimate Freedom USQ40JD, ISC 8.3 Cummins 350, Spartan MM Chassis. TxCowboy
Has anyone here had an experience with the famcamps in the Destin, FL area? The Army had one there on the inner bay that was managed by Fort Benning, GA plus Eglin AFB is right there as well. Ray,IN
Why is it called the rally section? It isn't set aside for gatherings. You are right, that's my reference only. That's where the SMART veterans RV club parks is why I said "rally". It is where most 40' and over RV's are parked because the old section was designed many years ago, and has few sites that accommodate 40'+ RV's. 2000 Winnebago Ultimate Freedom USQ40JD, ISC 8.3 Cummins 350, Spartan MM Chassis. larryf
For the record - The U.S. MIlitary Campgrounds and RV Parks website provides over 9,000 reviews of our military campgrounds from actual "users" that stayed at these campgrounds. Nothing bias about it. Of course, opinions differ, so your opinion of a location may be different that what the reviewer said. Everyone has their "hot button" on liking or dis-liking a specific location. We just returned from a 4 month RV trip to Alaska. We visited every military campground in Alaska (except Kodiak). New information, photos, video tours, reviews etc. are added every day. We also now have over over 50 "video tours" of various military campgrounds. I'll continue making these as we travel around.
