I am new to Escapees, but my truck is not. Purchased from escapees in Jan but due to injuries had to send someone across the country to pick it up. Finally released to drive so I hooked up and went for a spin. Why didn't I do this sooner? Been reading about the "dark side " while driving Ram 3500 pulling 41 foot toy hauler. On flat land it did ok but first trip to the mountains told the real story. I have learned so much from this site and I hope to be a good source of information in the future as well.

Thanks to everyone here for the great information.

He he he - wait till you get that puppy in those same mountains. Especially going down one and flip that exhaust brake switch - or better, flip it on and set the cruise control! Try not to ride the go pedal too much, once they reach cruise range, set it and forget it. Do not be tempted to go get a sandwich, it's cruise not autopilot. LOL

Welcome and enjoy, I did the same as you all the folks here gave me lots of info & help and I get to go to the East Coast Rally this year!!!!!!!!

LOL - Carl and Donna do put on a good rally. Still watching the weather. And no, you don't need the truck to attend.

Thanks every one. I do plan on attending the rallies. There's a get together at Charlotte Motor Speedway this year so I plan on walking over and try to meet some of the members too. I would love to see some of the sleeper mods so I can start building mine.

Congratulations on the truck and "accepting the Dark Side". We have our truck on order and can only imagine the smile on your face the first time you fired it up.

The National Rally in Hutchinson was very informative for us and helped with the many questions we had on HDT's.

Have fun and look forward to seeing you on the road.

Howdy buzz64,

Welcome, nice to see another Freightshaker dragging a large toy hauler in the group, whats in the toy box?

Dave

Currently I have a 2005 Goldwing, but due to recent injuries I can no longer ride. I am wanting to replace it with a really fast golf cart. DW has the same idea except for the really fast part. Smart car will go on the bed. What toys are you hauling?

Howdy buzz64,

I usually haul a couple of Ural's with sidecars on them, sometimes a Ural with sidecar and my Road king Classic, hope to get the wife riding her Heritage Classic again one of these days. I have given thought to getting a Smart Car to haul for times when the weather would make it better to have a car rather then one of the bikes. My garage is 18 feet long, I can haul a Smart Car and a bike with a sidecar on it or the Smart Car and the two Harley's.
