Once known as the playground of the rich and famous for families such as the Morgans, Pulitzers, Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, and the Goodyears, Jekyll Island is now opened for everyone to enjoy. Be in awe of the stunning sunsets and sunrises on this beautiful southern coastal island, which is best known for its spectacular beauty, historical buildings, and relics from the Civil War.

See the marsh grasslands the confederate soldier Sidney Lanier wrote about when he penned the famous poem, “The Marshes of Glynn.” While on these beautiful waterways, you will travel under the Sidney Lanier cable bridge, the longest-spanning bridge in Georgia, and learn about the area’s history when you board aspacious passenger boat and enjoy a fully narrated historic Brunswick sightseeing and dolphin tour. On this tour, you can encounter the fascinating bottlenose dolphin and learn about their social behavior and feeding habits.

On Jekyll Island, enjoy a docent-led tour at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, and enjoy walks along the sandy beaches; see the elegant oak trees draped with the featherlike flowing Spanish moss, observe the marine life such as dolphins, birds, and fish. Don’t forget to bring your bicycles and ride along the beaches, especially Driftwood Beach, which is a short distance from the campground where you will be staying.
