State Park in FL Keys

Here are the state parks that offer camping in Florida. https://www.floridastateparks.org/activity-list/Camping

Curry Hammock State Park has camping with a beach view at Marathon, FL. but on the Atlantic side.

John Pennekamp State Park on the Atlantic side of Key Largo has 47 sites and possibly the best easy-to-see reef in the US.

Long Key State park on Long Key has 60 campsites (also on the Atlantic side).

Make your reservations early (now might even be too late to get your choice of spots).

Bahia Honda State Park is great, with some sites on the water. But there are enough people in Florida who will reserve a site, pay for it, and then not show up, to mess up getting reservations.

WHOA Let's backup that train. It is not just Floridians making unused reservations.

The problem with the reservations in the state parks in the Keys is simply this:

Please don’t blame us Floridians. We are in the same boat as the rest of the country when it comes to getting a site.

It is simple math:

  1. Number of State Parks in the Florida Keys: 4
  2. Number of RV sites available in all 4 parks added together: 186
  3. Number of Tent only sites. (can’t be used for RV’s): 30
  4. Number of people from all over the country that want to camp in the Keys? Lots and a Lots and Lots!! Too many.
