ATCBoomer
I'm looking for input on thickness of steel plate to mount over frame rails to mount hitch. I'm planning on going with 1/2" but I just want to make sure that passes the sanity check with those of you in the know with current setups. Thanks in advance. Dennis M
Mine's 1/2" been fine for years. Had it off a year ago to clean surface rust and repaint and all is fine.
Darryl&Rita
My hitch sits on 1/4" diamond plate. However, that's only skin over the sub-structure. The skin rests on 3/8" x 2" angle. Hard to describe, but photos can be found here. Please note, this deck was built unlike any others, for a variety of reasons.

NTPA Announcer
WoW!! What a smooth concept. This is a great bed . I love the contours and curves. My bed is 1/2 inch and the weight is a factor as I am singled short so I'll take the extra weight . Will you by chance be going to the ECR in Tennessee in April? It would be nice to get a closer look at this !

phoenix2013
Anything 1/2 inch and up. I actually "had a pleasure" to install an ET Jr. on a 1 inch thick AR500 plate. When I asked the owner of the truck why the AR500, 1 inch thick, the answer was, "something we had laying around so we used it" For those who are wondering "what the hell is he talking about", standard (common) A-36 steel plate has a BHN (Brinell Hardness Number) of 150-180, by comparison AR500 plate is heat treated/ hardened for wear resistance and has BHN of 460-544. I put a mag drill on it, lowered the cutter and the plate looked at it and said "OK Jr. make my day". We did mange to drill 9 holes in it, eventually, lots and lots oil on the cutter.
