Is this program still a go? Have not seen much on it lately. I could have missed it.

Thanks to all.

Perhaps someone who sells good LED lights could be invited to attend???

Yes, it is still a go. I have been busy shedding our stuff, selling, packing, storing, moving, breaking my wrist, root canal while I still have insurance, dealing with stolen purse and credit cards, and now trying to get trailer and truck packed and underway this week as a newbie full timer. I have not taken time to deal with this. But I think we have a good initial start and will have time to get our plans completed and materials secured before the rally. John Palmer was working on some special deals for us. I strongly suggest participants hold off making purchases until their plans have been fully vetted by our volunteer experts.

You will hear more from me later. In meantime, if you have any technical questions about your plans, you can direct them to Jack.

I have to start researching all over again, and rethinking our plan for adding to our solar system. Mostly because we no longer have a solar system, we sold the Motorhome and purchased a 5th wheel ( 2010 cedar creek 36re) this past week. I did salvage the solar system from the motorhome and plan on using it again. But I know now I will have to add and additional panel and disconnect and such.

At the moment I am trying to solve our bad wifi signal, then on to researching 5th wheel solar installation. I would like to mount the panels on the front portion of the trailer. I havent been up on the roof long enough to evaluate shadowing from the ac unit, I guess thats next. I am also a little concerned about the path i will be taking with the wire down to the batts.

Travelin,

if you have access to the OneDrive account we are using to share our information, I have some pix of my roof including measurements. We have a 36ckts, so layout may not be totally the same, don't know. I have more unrestricted roof space on the back 2/3 of the roof, with the back half the best locations for my setup. I'm thinking I will run the pv cables down the vent stack. What I don't know is if should put a combiner box on the roof or in the basement.

Hey Reck, I also have more room in the rear 2/3 of the roof. I was just trying to keep the wire run much shorter to keep the voltage loss as low as I can. I also planned on putting a combiner box on the roof, that is the way I had it set up on my Motorhome. But all of these thoughts are just that until I get another plan together and get some input.

Are you happy with your creek? We have had two motorhomes and this is our first trailer and can't believe how much more we are enjoying the trailer.

Yes, (knock on wood)... We are very satisfied with our CC. We had only 1 issue when we got it, and that was the black tank rinse leaked, because the hose was loose. We moved up from a TT to this, and it feels like home, and next year it will be !

Jack will be providing next step technical guidance on our individual plans. He may be dealing with some other critical issues at the moment, but I expect we will be hearing from him fairly soon. If there are any administrative issues that I can help anyone with, things are a bit less chaotic for me now and I would be glad to spend some time on this now. If anyone hesitated to contact me while I was trying to move and start our full time lifestyle, first I would like to thank you, second, I will tell you that you don't need to hesitate any longer.

We are not able to participate in the event, but we may be in Fla. at that time. Is there room for Kibitzers? Or would that be too disruptive?

It would be great to see & learn; then hopefully be able to apply some of the new knowledge to our own project...

I know things change and folks are busy, (I'm recovering from surgery), but I'm wondering how our rally participants are doing?

Would enjoy attending such a rally if it were held out west.

Wondered why we were dropping so much battery storage each night. We were down more than -2.5 kW-hrs each night. Had to hitch up today to have warranty work done on our Open Range (warranty will pay for the entire rear window assembly, one shade, and replacement of the grey/black tank valves). The emergency brake cord had been pulled out. Not sure how much power that takes, but is probably 40 or 50 W.

Okay getting closer .... bought four 160W grape solar panels and picked up four Trojan T145 batteries, working on the battery box now. Magnum and TriStar monitors are also installed.

Slow is not a bad thing, George. It minimizes rework.

Everyone needs to make sure that they have all their major components either with them, or have made arrangements with John palmer. By major components I mean panels, inverter, controller, and monitors. Wire and related "stuff" is no issue. If you want to use a baby box, get it before you come.

You need to contact Jim. He should have contacted you if you are on the distribution list. It is hard for me to say if that is the case, since there is no identifying info on your profile, etc. I don't know if you map to one of the participants on my list. This is a working rally - not a seminar venue. But you would learn a good bit, I suspect, and you would have the opportunity to tune your system or improve it. To answer your question, yes the Rally is on.

After we left the rally, which I thought went great, we went to DIsney World. It was a busy week and I did not find time to post much while there. As we were leaving, I came down with a confirmed case of the flu. I have been quite sick and still feel terrible today. I am not up to giving a full account of the rally at this time. Give me a few more days to recover and I will come back and post an update/wrap up to the rally.
