  1. Gentle Readers, here's the Inquisitive Idiot* Question Of The Day: Is it possible for a rooftop a/c to replace a powered rooftop exhaust vent? That is, if you are not plugged into shore power or running a generator, will the fan part run on 12 volt dc from the house battery(s)? If not, can you run just the fan part via an inverter, and if so, how big an inverter ? If you CAN run it, is it a good idea to do so? If you are running it while cooking, won't the smoke and grease build up in the a/c eventually? * "There may not be any stupid questions, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots!"
  2. Dreamt last night of living in a TT somewhere out in the American Southwest. Sitting in a camp chair admiring the scenery while some shirts danced on a clothesline in the afternoon breeze..... Okay, so how do full-timers do laundry when they're boondocking?? After about six months of researching the lifestyle, I have eliminated truck campers from my list of "desired retirement home', leaving Class As, Class B+/C-s, and TTs, with TTs currently in the lead. None of the ones I'm looking at come with a washer/dryer (and I'm about certain I wouldn't want one anyway). So how do you guys wash your unmentionables? I recall seeing some foot-powered thing about the size of a kitchen garbage can, but I can't find it now. Washtub? Coin laundromat? Inquiring minds want to know. Also, let's say you break camp one brisk morning (or sweltering, doesn't matter) and drive a few hundred miles to your new spot for the next month. In a TT, do you keep the a/c running so when you get there you don't have to wait for the "house" to cool down/warm up? I suspect I will find more weird questions, thanks for your patience.
  3. UPDATE: 9/21/17 HERO Maker spent the day in Gary, Indiana, getting the a/c repaired, while Kitty and I cooled our jets in Shipshewanna. He's written his own update later in the thread. So tomorrow morning, it's "Kansas City, here we come!" Thx guys, Rocksbride. --------------------------- Hola Hermanos! We left Volvo in Laredo, TX 60 days ago cool as frozen cucumbers... We left Colorado about 8 ROAD days later hotter'n habaneros. Poor HERO Maker drove 2 days across eastern Colorado and western Kansas WITH NO A/C, a cranky wife and a puny cat. Now HERO Maker is hotter than hot - but calm on the phone - dealing with Volvo in KC. I will let him tell you his tale... Please see his post from yesterday (9/13) in this thread for the current status of the situation. Thx. (For some reason he wanted me to re-open this thread instead of starting a new one.) We leave for Indiana - Shipshewanna area - 9/18, which is about the same drive time as from here back to Colorado. Kitty and I are begging you to please help the man. Thanking you in advance. See y'all in HUTCH!!! Sheri ----------------------------- ORIGINAL POST HERE: (We thought it was resolved.)
