  1. AC refrigerant is not part of the vehicle emissions system.
  2. My wife and I are 78 and 80 respectively, and haven't set any definite date for hanging up the keys yet. We do know it's coming soon though, as our health problems escalate. My wife was hospitalized in Florida last winter for a week due to a respiratory problem related to her ongoing COPD, plus my stroke in April that uncovered previously undetected AFIB, has us both seriously considering our next moves. We do hope to honor the reservations we already have in place both here in upstate NY into the fall and next winter in southern GA and FL into mid-April, but after that all bets are off. My mobility is somewhat limited, but I'm still able to handle the setup and tear down chores when we change parks. Our hang up the keys arrangements are in place, so no worries there. Each of us has to make these choices based on our own situations, and age is far from only factor, or even the most significant in making our decisions about our future lifestyle.
  3. Not picking on anyone in particular, but when I hear someone say we've "put up with each other" for the length of our marriage, I do get a bit irritated. As my wife and I also approach our 60th anniversary, we look back and appreciate the amount of love, cooperation, and compromise it took to get here, but mostly love. At no time in all those years have we ever felt like we were "putting up" with one another. That said, CONGRATULATIONS! on your 49th anniversary tomorrow, and may you enjoy many more!
  4. I was noting that your post compares apples to oranges. Completely different organizational structures.
  5. FMCA is run by a membership board. Escapees and the GS parents Camping World and Affinity Group are run by executive boards. Big difference. How much input do Amazon Prime members have? Or Costco members? B.J.'s members? At least Escapees asks our opinion on various topics from time to time.
  6. FMCA is a non-profit organization. Escapees and Good Sam are businesses. Apples and oranges.
  7. We prefer state and national park campgrounds in part for the usually larger sites and more foliage. We do put up with tighter sites when needed for en-route overnight stops though.
  8. Then they should have left Texas the day they got together. Texas has no time element before a couple can declare themselves married, but nor is there any time element when they would be considered legally married without ever declaring themselves so. As I said, I suspect they had gotten some bad advice or believed the common law marriage myths, but I'll drop it anyway.
  9. John, are you ok with a 1 amp rated conductor connected to a 20 mp breaker? We all do that routinely with many devices. Multi-socket 120 VAC light fixtures for example, are routinely wired with 22 ga lamp cord rated at .92 amps. And I also note that the chassis wiring rating for 10 ga wire is 55 amps. A shorted 10 ga 30 amp RV extension cord will pop a 50 amp breaker. In the practical world, undersized wire is commonly connected to larger breakers. There are plenty of examples in all of our homes.
  10. It may be awkward at times, but others assuming a couple is married without the couple presenting themselves as such is not a legal basis for any claim of common law marriage by any legal authority.
  11. I have 6 or 8 convenience outlet testers in various places that I collected over the years when the electrical suppliers used to give them away. Like you, I used one with a dog bone and 30/20 adapter for 30 amp testing, and later on two of them with a 50/30/30 splitter for 50 amps. I haven't decided whether to invest in the 50 amp Dumble or not.
  12. No need to Rube Goldberg a 30 amp tester either. https://www.amazon.com/Dumble-Outlet-Tester-Plug-Receptacle/dp/B0B3M8NJ6V/
  13. Common law marriage is not "automatic" and can easily be avoided by following just a few simple rules: Do not hold yourself out as being married. Don't introduce your partner as your spouse. Don't refer to them as your husband or wife. Don't file federal tax returns as a married couple.
  14. Chatbot is not the most reliable tool around, especially when it comes to legal issues. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/chatgpt-judge-fines-lawyers-who-used-ai/
  15. I agree with the direct wire transfer for most high dollar situations. Not a scam, but I did have a brief moment of concern when I sold one RV years ago. The buyer was a neighbor that knew he wouldn't get the title until the check cleared, so it was bit of a shock when he called me about an hour after closing the deal and asked me to please not deposit the check. It seems his wife had transferred the money from an investment account, but mistakenly put it in a savings account instead of the checking account. The next day he showed up with cash and his apologies. No harm done except to my nerves...
  16. Towables have wheels too, and brakes that can overheat and cause fires. And from the charts at my link above: "Of the 4,200 RV fires, 85% were not self-propelled, and the remaining 15% were self-propelled." (emphasis added)

  18. My green Flexzilla hoses are drinking water rated.
  19. Your official state mail such as vehicle registrations and driver licenses use the Florida Escapees Bushnell address. Some investment accounts, insurance, etc, may require using that address as well. Mail to the Bushnell address is forwarded to the Escapees mail center in Livingston, TX for processing and forwarding along with your regular mail.

  21. Nick also has a new volume in his "Tinder Street" series out. "A Changing World (Tinder Street Saga Book 5)" continues the story of the McNally's and their extended family, this time in the second half of the 1930's. The series is well researched historical fiction that starts with the days leading up to World War 1. The series is free for Amazon Kindle Unlimited members. https://www.amazon.com/Changing-World-Tinder-Street-Saga-ebook/dp/B0C5ZDBVJ6/
