  1. I suspect the situation you referred to was original owner and she bought this used. However, I have passed it along and she has contacted the local Ford/Lincoln dealer where where she has bought a number of new cars including the Navigator she drives now! Thanx for the input!
  2. So my sister was taking her 2016 Winnebago with 41,000 mi on in for some minor coach adjustments when the engine blew! She has extended service contract thru Wholesale Warranties who want to use a LKQ remanufactured engine. Her longtime RV mechanics claim Jasper is a better product. I am familiar with Jasper as I used a rebuilt transmission from them about 15 years ago. I had no issues with it but that is statistically insignificant sample size. The Jasper engine is about $1500 more then the LKQ quote. So anybody out there had experience with either of these companies. I would be interested in feedback of any kind! Thanx in advance!
  3. Yes I just found it too on about page 10 of this thread in 2006! about page 10 if you want to look at info in the thread. Wow time flies.!
  4. I am racking my brain but cannot remember it! If I do I will come back and post it. I had their app at one time and talked to them but some things changed on my part and I dropped it with both companies. I am pretty sure the name you are looking for is in this thread probably back in late 2007 or early 2008. Good luck!
  5. To follow up on what pepthedog posted last month. Here is a link to a posting Southern Cross made in Workers Wanted section of this forum last month! http://www.rvnetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=105925 It appears they have a need now that makes them more responsive to those interested in applying!
  6. Well the vast number of folks on this forum are RVers or interested in the lifestyle. This work normally involves limited time (months, maybe a year) at a work location so an RV is an asset. But, I have never understood that they required it and they do have a number of jobs that are not so mobile. Look at their website for some more info.
  7. For what it is worth - I have followed this thread for 5* years and seriously considered working for them until about 3 years ago! I gave up on that due to some totally unrelated conditions. John Beale, I would characterize my health and condition same as you and, based on my info on this subject, I would not hesitate to work for them. (I will be 70 next month, and walk 3-4 miles most days.) If it fits your objectives I would recommend you go for it! But, it has to be your decision!
  8. While I have not worked for SCC, I have followed this thread closely for 5+ years and was ready to go to work for them about 4 years ago when some unexpected changes in my life precluded it. What Barney says is much more consistent with what others have said then what ontheroad99 has said. You need to understand what their expectations are and if it fits your needs and expectations. If my circumstances allowed it I would expect to enjoy working for them.
  9. You can Google Southern Cross Corp to get the contact info or read back thru this thread which has been going for several years. The company is right outside Atlanta GA. There were some new contact names last summer, but same company, just the normal shuffle in a corporation. One rule that is mentioned thru out the thread you have to be persistent. They seem to respond more to the squeaking wheel so don't just submit the info then expect them to do the rest! Follow up on your paperwork once submitted, be polite but persistent seems to work. Good luck!
  10. Well congratulations and good luck. Let us know where you end up and how it goes vs what you expect!!
  11. FYI - Bob Arnold, the guy that started this thread years ago is no longer on the forum so you will not hear from him. However, all the answers & info you need is in this thread. The key is to submit your application and then follow up again and again with the company. The application is on their website which is listed in the thread a number of times or you can Google Southern Cross corp. Barny has a replied a day or two ago and is with them and may be a good resource too. He has posted informative info since he started with them several years ago. Good luck.
  12. While it may be tedious, all the answers to your questions are in the previous posts. Hopefully Jan, a previous employee of Southern Cross, or one of the guys now, or recently working, for Southern Cross. I seriously looked into working for them several years ago and submitted an application but for unrelated reasons withdrew my application. The one message I got out of this whole thread and my limited efforts is if you want to work for Southern Cross you need to be aggressive about following up on your application. The contact I was given has moved on (e.g. died, I believe) but there is his replacement somewhere in the thread. If you are in decent physical condition and like working outside in not too strenuous work, this may be for you. I still have it in the the back of my mind, if my circumstances allow it. Hope this helps you; I expect you will get some more current info shortly.
  13. They are in Norcross GA outside Atlanta. Here is link to website http://www.sparusholdings.com/56/Services.htm If you apply you will need to follow up aggressively because they have a tendency to not be very responsive. But, a number of folks on this forum have worked with them and most seem satisfied. If you have not done so yet, I suggest you go all the way back thru this tread and read it. You will get a lot of info and a better feel for what you might be in for. I was interested, but decided not to pursue for unrelated reasons. Would not rule it out at some future point.
  14. Thanx for the update Barney. I was wondering how it was going. I may pursue it next Spring.
  15. Not to digress, but this thread has taken on a life of its own and contains a lot of valuable info and it would be a shame to deny folks that info. The OP has not been heard from for a substantial amount of time and is certainly due great credit for all the info he has provided, along with others, that make this a valuable thread for those interested in this subject. To answer the last post, there has been activity this time of each year and no reason to doubt it will be different this year. As you noticed neither of these companies respond to normal job aps, you need to follow thru aggressively. I applied and was interested but got tired of playing the phone game so dropped it.
  16. So how have these companies (SCC & Heath) dealt with the rapid increase in fuel prices? Have they adjusted there allowances for that?
  17. I will add my endorsement to the Sacramento and north area. We lived there for a couple of years (againest our desires) but enjoyed it. Looking forward to going back to visit. Just to the west the mountains and foothills are beautiful!! Not far to the coast and north of San Fran is beautiful! However, best to be out of there by mid-July as it gets really hot (HOT) and dry!! Enjoy!
  18. Looking forward to joining the crew soon! Hopefully my handwriting will pass the test !
  19. I have been looing at their website again and reread this long thread and it appears they do no work in FL! Not a big deal as one thing that interestes me is the travel for several months at a time, but there are a few times when it might be nice to be there, e.g. life events of grandkids. Just curious do any of you SCC folks know of any FL connections with them?
  20. We are in Melbourne. I am retireed and waiting for DW to retire from school teaching in a few more years. in the meantime I keep my self busy with odd jobs and helping friends & family, etc. Will finish a short teaching contract at Cocoa Bech Jr/Sr High in Jan, head to Key West Navy Base for a month then would like to get started with SCC. I walk 3 miles every AM and it would be nice to get paid for it! Plus I like the flexibilbity of SCC as DW and I hit the road when school is out!! We hope to get out west one summer soon. Happy Travels
  21. mirada, sounds like you are happy with the arrangement. I am glad to hear that. Have not really heard anything negative about this opportunity other then pre-employment contact delays. I intend to pursue it starting in mid-Jan. Will be interested in Bob A's response to you.
  22. Bob Arnold Thanx for the info. Time frame is what I am interested in and by then I will have confirmed my availabily date which should avoid the confusion of my previous submission. Do I really need to call or just submit the app to his attn:? My questions have been pretty much answered by now! Thanx again for your reply. It was helpful. Bob
  23. Calvin R thanx for your response. I would appreciate any updates you get as I will be submitting an application right after the start of the new year!
