  1. These pumps have always vibrated in our trailers, and if one (or more) of the rigid plastic waterlines are against any wooden structure it can really resonate. I've had good luck with placing foam pipe insulation, or just a piece of soft foam between the water line and any structure that it is touching. In the left side of your picture it looks like two lines are lying directly against a piece of wood. The solution may be as simple as isolating those lines with foam.
  2. The original convection oven in our Hitchhiker heated unevenly. A pan of 12 muffins would always have a corner where the 2-3 muffins were slightly burnt and obviously taller than the other muffins. The pan was too large to allow the turntable to operate, and it was always the same corner. After 8 years that unit failed and was replaced with an LG unit and we no longer had the uneven baking. Perhaps you have a similar situation with uneven temps causing the issue.
  3. We just returned from Costa Rica, and the US requires a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours of your return. There was COVID testing available at every pharmacy, and even at the airport itself. We did our test at the airport and had results within 30 minutes. The cost was $65. Once testing became required for travelling between countries, the testing facilities were put into place very quickly and made quite convenient. As Barb says pretty inconvenient for a quick day trip, but certainly not enough to stifle travel for those who really want to go. But if you happen to test positive, things will get interesting...
  4. That is too bad. Nothing worse than not being able to hear/understand a performance or presentation. Unless it is the venue being unbearably hot and stuffy...
  5. I generally find them on the output side of the pump, but it should work in either location.
  6. This is often the check valve in the water pump. Most common pumps have rebuild kits available that will replace this valve and solve the problem. Or you can add an external check valve just downstream from the pump. It is also possible that you have other valving, usually near the water hook-up that allows you to fill your tank with city water from the hookup, winterize, etc. If you have this setup it is possible that one of these valves may be leaking, or simply not fully closed. But in my experience the problem you describe is usually the check valve in the water pump.
  7. It got pretty personal and nasty and I am assuming the entire thing was deleted by moderators. It happens now and then.
  8. RV - I'm guessing that is was a 10 MB (not 10 GB) hard drive, and yes, we didn't think it possible to fill that up... I started with a TRS-80 that first used a cassette deck for mass storage, and then updated it to 5.25" floppies that held a whopping 180 KB each (Single sided, single density).
  9. In the designation "i5-1035G1", the "10" after the hyphen indicates the generation of the processor.
  10. Hopefully he will just go away. I was really happy to see this narcissistic troll banned. Well deserved.
  11. It looks like a cot for a bed, a bucket for a toilet, and a 100W solar panel for electricity. No heating or cooling beyond what the minivan itself provides. This seems to be a basic survival situation, one step up from living on the street or in your car. I agree that is is hard to believe that this is what most people are asking about when discussing a budget for "full-time RV'ing".
  12. Understood. My point was that your "rank" will most likely change as your post count, since the update, increases.
  13. My guess is that this will simply be based on post count since the update. Most "rankings" on message boards are done this way. Not much different than simply listing the number of posts as has been done all along.
  14. This makes no sense. There is no correlation between how tight the filter is on the hose and how long a fill takes. There are many other variables that do make a difference, like water pressure, clogging of the filter, length/diameter of hoses, restrictions, etc. I have been at places where the water pressure/volume was so low that it took 3 - 4 times as long to fill the tank as at a "normal" hydrant.
  15. I don't see how the recent decision the double the out-of-state rates would result in this. These parks were completely reserved out for the summer prior to this change. They will still be reserved out, but likely with a higher percentage of Idaho residents than before. The perceived problem was that Idaho state residents were having trouble getting into their own state parks, due to large numbers of Canadians and Washington residents reserving sites as soon as the reservation system opened. This is an attempt to change that. Time will tell regarding the impact.
  16. I didn't find your prior post offensive or inappropriate. I wonder why it was so dramatically edited?
  17. The title of this post, which happens to be the title of the leaked video, is becoming so typical of YouTube videos and on-line news articles. It has to be eye-catching and hopefully antagonistic or controversial. Clickbait, pure and simple. Let's face it, operating systems change and morph often enough that most folks are not going to suddenly jump from one platform to another because of a single update. And it is unlikely that Apple will suddenly "Reign" with regards to Microsoft based on this rollout. Both companies will continue to update and innovate, and that is good for all users.
  18. You are going to want to check your "facts" Kirk. Neither the Texas ERS (Employee Retirement System) nor the TRS (Teacher Retirement System) have COLA's built into them. I retired in 2010 and have not seen any increase in my pension, nor to I expect to in the next eleven years. I had co-workers who retired 5 years before me who have likewise not received any COLA. I understand that TRS has not given an increase in 17 years, except for a single increase in 2013 to those who had retired prior to August 31, 2004.
  19. In Kerrville Texas today I noticed that the McDonald's had a "help wanted" sign at their drive through. Entry level workers were being offered $11 per hour, with shift managers being paid $14 per hour and up. Based on my experience working fast food decades ago in high school, becoming a shift manager could happen within a matter of months for hard-working, reliable folks. The situation seems to be the same for most retailers and restaurants in the area.
  20. The biggest issue with the 250/2500 class of trucks is the GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating) of the rear axle. Especially with a diesel engine (which are very heavy) there is often not enough additional capacity in the rear axle to handle the pin weight of even a moderate sized fifth wheel. The two trailers that you mention seem to gross around 14,000 pounds (ignore the empty weight!!), and would overload the rear axle on virtually all 250/2500 trucks. I wouldn't even consider a 3/4 ton truck for towing a fifth wheel. Often the SRW (Single Rear Wheel) one-tons are only a few hundred dollars more and offer a significant GAWR bump. We pulled a 15000 pound fifth wheel for 10+ years of fulltiming with a SRW F-350 and never felt under-trucked. Many would recommend a dually in that weight range, and they do give significantly more RAWR.
  21. I can see where that would be a nightmare for a state park to implement (dozens of different rates and having to check drivers licenses, license plates, etc.), but I can certainly understand state parks adding a surcharge for out-of-state guests as a way to give preference to their own residents. As demand continues to grow for camping spots I can foresee some changes to fee structures. I my area of the Texas Hill Country is is common for the local parks to have a relatively low entrance fee for residents and a higher fee for non-residents. Our local city park (day use only) charges $10 per person if you are from out of the county, $5 if you live in the county but not in the city limits, and is free for city residents. They offer other discounts for over 65, veterans, active military, first responders, etc. Complex fee structure for sure!
  22. This will be interesting. We were Interpretive Hosts at Farragut for two summers, and that park was packed from July thru mid-September. Many (most?) of the visitors were from nearby Washington state (Spokane was an hour away) or from Canada, which led to great frustration from area residents. While this move will undoubtedly open up access to residents of Idaho, I will be interested to hear how it impacts their overall numbers. To be honest I wouldn't mind seeing our Texas State Parks do something similar, as it is very difficult to get into them and, especially during the winter, it is not unusual to see large numbers of out-of-state plates. We've certainly paid our share of higher "out-of-state" state campground fees in our travels over the years. What's good for the goose...
  23. Vern- You must have missed their profane (and now deleted) response where they essentially told everyone to go "F" themselves. I wouldn't waste anymore time on this...
  24. I had a buddy that get very confused with this. He thought that "ON" meant the kill switch was on, killing the connection between his batteries and his RV. When in fact, the "ON" position meant that the power was "on" between his batteries and RV. On my rigs that have had kill switches, the "ON" position was the position you wanted it in for using the RV, while the "OFF" position was for storage.
  25. Not at all uncommon at our home. I guess depends on how much and what you cook. If he says that they want four burners, why not accept it?
