  1. I wonder if they are a real Escapees BoF, why are they not listed as one? I suspect that may be that they are now accepting members who are not members of Escapees RV Club, which is required to be a BoF and to use the Escapee name. There is some disconnect going on. The Admin contact and the POC listed online are the same but the contact listed in the magazine is different. Still trying to sort it out.
  2. There is a Facebook groucalled, Workcampers. There is also one that is RV Volunteering. Escapees and RVillage both have groups dedicated to Workamping. There is a site www.workampers.com and also an app CamperGigs.com (app is new so not much on it yet.) Good luck
  3. Kirk W, good advice and what we are working towards. I am currently making up a cover letter to send off to a couple of our “bucket list” refuges.
  4. We tried for a gig in SE Arizona with the National Park Service and the competition was intense. We did not get the gig. With more research we found that the Wildlife Refuges would be a better fit for us so we had been looking through volunteer.gov for a spot. We found a refuge that was short of volunteers for the fall so we got a short 6 week gig. This will give us some “experience” in the system so we hope to get a longer 2-3 month next time. Already looking for Late Winter-Early Spring 2023. What I am saying is, don’t be frustrated if you don’t get a spot. Lots of people are looking.
  5. Bingo!!! I don’t know how but I found a group called “SKP Photographers BoF” on Facebook. I just joined so I don’t know how active it is but there are some beautiful pictures! It was weird that they did not ask for me to verify my SKP # but FB is strange sometimes. Lol I also discovered that the POC listed online is different from the POC in the magazine. Hope this helps
  6. I have been taking some online classes through Udemy which have given me more confidence to take chances. We are in Pensacola and it has been cloudy making me play with the exposure compensation and white balance more. We will be I in the SW on March so I am looking forward to some large vistas!
  7. I have used both the Lynx type levelers and also the Beech Lane Rocker version. Beech Lane hands down is the easiest. One set comes with two rockers which is all we have ever needed. It takes us no time at all to level the trailer. It is easier with two people unless you have a system like LevelMate Pro. When you pull up on the rockers you must go slow. We have never slipped on the rocker and the mats provided keep the rocker from slipping on gravel. have fun whatever you choose.
  8. Wanted to let you know that RVillage has some photography groups that are moderately active. One on photography of all kinds and one for birders. It would be fun to be able to meet up with other birders and photographers to just go out and play. I have checked out some “class tours” and they are very expensive. I am an advance beginner, meaning that I no longer shoot on “auto.” Lol
