  1. Thanks, I will tell her. We were just talking about you guys last night-Of coarse, all good talk. 😉 Miss you guys, hope to cross paths soon. We're slowly working our way east when we leave Montana.
  2. Thank you all for your valuable responses. I was able to diagnose the faulty fan clutch with key on(not running) & solenoid to clutch disconnected. The fan was still able to free spin by me. I let the truck cool off for an hour or so & checked what kind of grades I had in front of me, that would overheat & shut us down. Figured I had a good 10 miles to find a boondocking area for the night. When I saw the 'Rodeo Grounds-Next Right' sign in Polson, Mt. we had it made for the night. Next morning tried our so called road service & was told the soonest would be the next evening by 6pm-Not Good. Woke up feeling McGuyver-ish (add it to your dictionary). Broke out the drill with a sharp bit & drilled two holes completely through the outer ring of the fan clutch, partially drilling into the failed clutch. Had some self tapping machine screws(use these a lot to mount tie-downs on to bed) Put a drop of oil on them & they went in perfect. We're at our new property in Montana(100 mile trip), waiting on new parts, but until then the permanent fan is just loving making a dust storm on all the dirt roads. I've had to do a few alternate methods over my many years of trucking, this ones right up there with my favorites. Thanks Again, Safe Travels-Stay Safe. Craig & Janelle Reuter
  3. Years ago on the Detroit Ser. 60 we were able to bolt the failed fan clutch to work full time until we could get into the shop. We're stuck up in the mountains of Montana until I can either get one delivered or someway lock it on permanently until fixed. Would be nice to make the last 100 miles home to replace it. 2012 Volvo 670 D13. Thanks to all who has an extra 2 cents.
  4. Not sure what a Sidewinder key is, but, on our '12 Volvo 670 I found a match for our key @ Lowes. It was labeled 19r1 (Chrysler product) or a 19r2. Had them make a couple keys for me & both worked in ignition & door. Good Luck-Safe Travels.
  5. My concern with the DC-DC is the stress on my stock alternator. I was reading up on the DC-DC chargers for our 12 volt mini-split in our Volvo. Seemed like many were talking upgrading to a higher power alternator so as no to fry the original. The DC-DC sounded like my answer until that came up. I had an extra inv/charger that I ended up using with a small genny & 225ah of AGM's. Interested & following. Safe Travels.
  6. Sorry, here's the part # & the Amazon link. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09M3DKWRD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  7. Here's the You Tube (short)video. He even tells you the socket size to use to remove the sensor(24mm).
  8. We've been having the same random shut down at various times, then starts right up & runs fine. After seeing your post & checking a few You Tube videos, this may just have solved my problem. I'll replace, both, the oil pressure sensor & crankcase pressure sensor. They are right next to each other & together under a $100. Thanks so much for posting your experience. You may have saved me quite a few nights sleep. Safe Travels, Craig.
  9. Starlink finally got too expensive. This is your 'Pie in the Sky'
  10. Halleluiah! Halleluiah! Halleluiah!
  11. Hi Dan & Freda, It felt pretty lonely out there @ 5:59pm, the night of your departure. Myself & another from the north end participated in a very weak manner. Hope to see you back in a couple of weeks, enjoyed being your neighbor in Q.
  12. Just got our site @ the Ambassador on the rally's first 'cancellation'. They're very prompt with their communications. See you there!
  13. Not Dumb at all. You need to contact the DMV in the state you live in. Most all seem to have different rules/regs. Good Luck
  14. Marcel, any luck on your electrical headache on your Volvo? This was the same problem mine started with. 'Neutral Secure not detected'. I had many places in the cab wire harness, the previous owner 'repaired'. We found the main culprit in the patched wiring, that caused that code, was in the harness behind drivers seat. Part of it went to the shifter, then under flooring, up into dash & through firewall. Was able to temporarily repair wires behind the seat & it cycled back to neutral & fired up. After waiting 3+ months for Volvo to supply the new harness, it's installed. A few more smaller headaches, air dryer, fuel tank straps, etc. & we might just make our trip to the National rally. Good Luck, Craig
  15. Certainly glad you're able to tell us about it!
  16. Will any of you that are attending the WCR have any rigs you're interested in selling? We are full timers, within 10 minutes of the rally in Caldwell, & would like to drop by. Thanks.
  17. Wife & I have been retired for 4 years now. I retired from Ace Hardware as a driver, mostly ran out of northern California, covering the stores in Oregon, Nevada & many trips up thru Washington. Mostly drove 3ax Freightliners w/full sleepers pulling 53' trailers. Had my CL A license 40+ years. We own a Travel Supreme 40' DP coach with all the bells & whistles. Just returned from a 5 month, 10K plus trip. Many times as I drove over some of the terrible roads across the US, I thought to myself how much I enjoyed the comfort of 'most' of my work trucks over the past 40 years. Wife has been more than hinting of switching to a 5th wheel, for mainly the comfort of full-timing. My trade off with her getting the choice of our rolling home will be getting my choice of an HDT. She's pretty much settled on her choice, I'm ready for my choice of the HDT. Would prefer from private owner, already set up, (but not opposed to converting myself) Of course, a fair price & low mileage is on top of our list, but there is a lot out there that I see, that I would consider buying. I don't mind traveling if there's a nice HDT out there available to purchase. Thanks for the opportunity to ramble, Craig & Janelle, Middleton, Idaho
