To clarify, I'm not depending on the WIFI, but would ideally likea place to set up multi-monitors.   I would have my own internet if needed, but I dont require alot of bandwidth.

I am looking to work remotely and live fulltime in my RV.  I've seen mobile internet access plans discussed often and people who will be working FROM their RV.  That stuff is important to me for a backup. But as I am travelling with small children, working from my RV would only be a practical last resort. I would like to find parks that ideally have a clubhouse or similar area where I could set up and work during the day. Has anyone seen these or done this?  Any tips for finding parks that offer such accomidations? Thanks!

Take a look at the converter in the RV and get make & model information and any other numbers it has and post them here as there is a lot of solid advice on the forums once you share that. With a 15 year old RV, the converter may or may not be original as is true for pretty much everything. We could probably give better advice also by knowing the make/model of the RV you purchased since that would tell us much about what you have since most things are probably still original .

I updated my profile.  I have a 2006 Travel Supreme 40DS04. I will check the convertor today when I'm out there.  Tires are good.  I need to get the roof resealed though so Im looking at adding some stuff to it first.  a solar array and a big wifi antenna for starters.  Any recs for those?

Chargers in (many) RV's have gotten much better over the past decade. Many RV's now come with 3 or 4 stage chargers with charge rates of 50 or 60 amps, or even higher. While I immediately replaced the converters in my first two RV's, the last two came with high-quality chargers that did an excellent job. 

Interesting. The RV I just bought is 15 years old.  What upgrades would you recommend and what would be the benefits?

Two be accurate you need to let the batteries site with an open circuit for at least 2 hours and Battery University site says 4 hours. It isn't a quick thing to do. Just shutting off the power for a few minutes would tell you more than the little meter on the RV indication panel inside but again it depends on how you use the RV to be sure just how accurate of information you need. Do you plan to be a serious dry camper or just an occasional overnighter like we are? 

Just occasionally.  I'm going to need to work so I need to be where reliable internet is.  At least during the week

Thanks everyone!  Great info.  The chart at least gives me something to go on.  I have a multimeter, so would using that to test the batteries with the main power shut off give me the most accurate reading (without buying extra equipment)?

Hi all.  I have a nice RO water filter system under my sink at home that I would like to move into my new ClassA motorhome.  For those who are unfamliar with how RO systems work, heres a brief intro.  The reverse osmosis filter(membrane) filters nearly all minerals and chemicals out of the water - but while doing so it has a self-cleaning mechanism that uses additional unfiltered water to clean itself.  So due to this self-cleaning, for a gallon of filtered water the system wastes about 2-3 gallons of unfiltered water to keep the membrane clean and it is sent down the drain.

Now in an RV, I would prefer not to just dump that water on to the ground or worse, fill up my grey water tank with it.  It should be perfectly fine water for washing hands, showers, flushing toilets - so I would like to pipe it back into my clear water tank.  Any ideas how best to accomplish this?   Will I need to drill a new hole somewhere in the clear water tankor are there existing openings I might be able to utilize?  Im as much of a newb as you can be in the world of RVing.  Any advice or insight would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi all, I just purchased my first RV.  After a brief bookdocking tryout, I realized that I have no idea how to guage when my house battaries need to be charged.  All I have is a display that shows the voltage - which started out at a little above 12v and slowly climbed down into the 11's.  Is that the number I am supposed to be using to guage the amount of energy left in the batteries?  If so, what level would indicate that I need to turn on the generator to charge them, and for how long?  Thanks!

There are two mobile inspectors in my area but they dont seem to be mechanics nor have any expertise on the drive trains for Class A, and specifically diesel RVs - like you say.  Nor even the generators.  I get the impression they cater more toward 5th wheels, but I could be wrong

I am looking to buy my first RV.  A class A diesel most likely from a private party.  As an engineer, I strongly believe in having the best inspection you can buy, from a highly experienced professional before dropping money on this kind of purchase.  For car purchases, I usually take them to the dealer, since their mechanics should know every year and model inside out and what are the most likely failure points to check and double check.  For an RV, I'm not sure.  So I'm looking for recommendation of shops, or recommendations of authorities to provide recommendations for my specific area.  I could just use google or yelp, but those reviews and ratings are curated and easily manipulated  by $.  Thanks!
