  1. To the OP if you are active or former military then USAA of San Antonio is an excellent source for financing new and some used autos, trucks, rvs, boats, etc. They have very reasonable rates and absolutely no tricks, or gimmicks of any kind. I have been a satisfied member since 1970 for both auto loans and auto insurance. They offer all kinds of financial services such as banking and investments. Cost nothing to join and become a member. Good luck to you. 2. "They will ding your credit report for not having a mortgage, car loan, etc . It isn't much, and I don't worry about it, but it takes a small ding." Okay I have no debt for many many years now and my FICO score is between 730 and 760. Over twenty years ago it was 830 when I took out loans for new truck (USAA) and later a used but new 28 foot TT (Bank of the West). Everything was paid off on time. My FICO scores are from CC and Banks. Now only have small amount of occasional CC debt roll over. Interest is tiny. Cheers to many and none to some. https://www.facebook.com/CaptainWilliamPerkinsInternationalHelicopter/?ref=pages_you_manage This is only the beginning
  3. Like Solo 18 I have also used these convenient Oregon weigh stations on the two lane rural roads. Very convenient just pull on and read your weights and pull off in less than 5 minutes. There was one south of the Champoeg State park just south of Portland as I recall. Cheers. This is only the beginning https://www.facebook.com/CaptBillPerkinsUNRescuePilot/?ref=pages_you_manage
  4. "He did have security concerns and said to turn it off." As there will always be a few snoopy neighbors or maybe a would be hacker or two then these types of tech articles are not crap and in fact informative to many. I guarantee those who poo poo these articles use password protected wifi and/or other encrypted methods for their internet adventures and if they say no then they are. 5. "The new Alabama law specifically granting RV parks the same status with regards to ejecting unruly tenants that hotels/motels have seems to be a good idea." Thanks mptjelgin. I have not seen the other comments. Cheers to you.
  6. Please show me a link to your evidence. Cheers for you.

  8. Speak for yourself as I am not demonizing or afraid of something I don't have, need or want. Life is very good as is sport without ever more useless gadgets IMHO. Cheers to others but not
  9. I just spent over two weeks camping in the NF campgrounds at Lake Davis, CA on a first come first serve basis and all three campgrounds were mostly empty even on weekends. Also spent a week at state park near Rio Vista, CA without reservations even though reservations are now required there. Both large campgrounds were near empty the whole time but still they required reservations. Some other CA state parks still allow walk-ins and first come first serve as do Nevada state parks. I always have good luck during the week and almost never stay at jammed up overcrowded private RV parks as I prefer the scenic NF and state park campgrounds. Even on my frequent fishing trips to SF I find free overnight parking at several locations with no hassles from anyone. Happy camper here. Also stayed at nearby AFB inn with plenty of empty rooms. https://www.facebook.com/william.perkins.79274
  10. Sorry about that link to my credentials and they are spy devices when the hackers get into your network. This has been reported numerous times in reputable tech websites that use the term spy and spying over a year now such as arstechnica and others . Just do your own google search. Save us from the puritans.
  11. Very sensitive. The sooner the better. As I recall he provides facts from other sources and what he said about VW diesel cars has been verified by facts, court decisions and many numerous reported news sources for many years so not everything is baloney or just author's opinion. He provided stats showing the recent almost stagnant sales of Class As compared to other RV types that showed large increased sales. I no longer hear people bragging about their diesel cars, etc. Cheers to the good guys. Capt. Happy here.
  12. I also just read this and very interesting good read. Cheers to many and none to a few. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1739912699644241&type=3
  13. I also just read this. JB doesn't give a and glad I have none of those spy devices. No interest in them at all. Cheers to many and jeers to a few. Retired Acct & SEC CFP. 14. Well said Chief neon and I also use Amazon Prime Music on my smartphone that plays many many dozens of my favorite only songs that I bought cheap over many years. The phone I plug into my truck radio and use the truck speakers. At home I play the music on my TV using laptop connection. The shuffle feature works great and I can create playlist also. I have not separately subscribe to Prime music but buy the individual songs I choose however I am a Amazon Prime member. Capt. Still here and everywhere https://www.facebook.com/william.perkins.79274
  15. I spend most of May, Sept, Oct, Nov, etc camping and fishing before start of vacation time in June and most of time I have the FS and State park campgrounds all to myself during the week and some weekends. I also avoid destination "resorts" and this is good for my health and longevity. Capt. Happy Camper here.
  16. Great idea and congratulations sport. I have often thought of this also. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1734514206850757&type=3
  17. I should have clarified my comment to say most U.S. National Forest and many state park campgrounds have almost half first come first serve campsites. I no longer do the national park thing because of crowds. My last U.S. park visit was at Crater Lake in Oregon in 2012 or 13. I was just camping and fishing at Plumas and Tahoe NF and had the large campgrounds all to myself. Perfect!!!!! I camp to enjoy nature and the quietness of that nature experience and crowds ruin it for me such as loud hollering, screaming, loud vehicles, loud music, loud fights, etc., etc. Yes I find quiet nice public campgrounds due to research and prior visits but none of these places are the "popular tourist hot spots". I may have to travel further and off season but that is okay with me as I have been retired since 1995 and enjoying great outdoors. Cheers to most and none to others.
  18. Well I am glad they at least charge the NO SHOWS. For most of the time and places I have had great success on a first come first serve basis and relying on off season non vacation time for my heavy camping. Most public campgrounds set aside around 50% or 45% sites as non reserve able and this is good for me. Capt. 19. I full timed for a over a year and half around age 66 and then stopped not because of age but I had accomplished my mission successfully. Now a happy very frequent part timer. 20. Very good information solo 18 and I have experienced similar circumstances both hiking and driving at other locations. Also in the mountains it can get very dark early and quickly turn to very cold from hot in only a few hours even without wind such as Deer Lake, California, etc. that I was prepared for with warm clothing in backpack and a flashlight or I would have been stuck on steep twisting trail in pitch black darkness. Elevation is 7103 feet. I would have put their worthless news letter to another My mission is accomplished!!!!!
  21. Bryce Canyon elevation is almost 8000 feet and this is still very early May. On April 29th Lake Davis California elevation of 6000 feet received under forecasted late winter storm with 6 inches of snow. The forecast called for only a dusting of snow, light rain and cooler temperatures. It is very common in the western mountain areas I camp for sudden cold snaps and snow storms this time of year and a cold wind for a while. In August of 2019 I ran into a sudden non forecasted snow storm at top of Donner Summit on I 80 around noon that created icy slippery slush on the roadways. Donner elevation is near 8000 feet. I was on a fishing trip from Reno to Rio Vista Ca with no chains or snow tires but did have warm clothing such as jacket, gloves, etc. My mission is accomplished
