  1. Hey all, I've been R V'ing a couple years now. My insurance agent and company is not happy that I travel all the time. I will be looking for new insurance company that doesn't get wigged out when a client travels full time. Any ideas are much appreciated. i am becoming a citizen of South Dakota mid August, I noticed one of the mail forward services has in house insurance agents. Is this a good route or should I look for independent agent and company. What works for you? George the Greek
  2. Yes Ive been on the road for a couple weeks heading to Michigan for the summer job. Probably take another two weeks to get there. I don't travel in straight lines and get side tracked easily. I expect to show up for the job on 7 may 2 days early to get set up and ready to start on the 9 mY
  3. I thought I posted this update yesterday but don’t see it. First thanks for the reply’s as always very appreciated. I picked up two new Goodyear’s and two new rims one had leaks the other i just decided to replace as a precaution ,if one failed the other one could be next. Im parked at a friends farm for another week then will see how they are on the road. Thanks agIn for the help George the Greek
  4. I asked about tires in an other post and got good idea what to buy. Today was interesting got about 1,700 miles since I started this trip last week. Just about the time I was getting off the road to take on fuel I heard a noise, no idea what it was just a noise. While taking on fuel I was doing my usuall walk around and noticed one rear tire on camper looked quite low. It was down to 12 lbs After fueling I pulled out of the way and went to work changing out to the spare. There was a semi lube and repair shop next door so I rolled it over and got permission to pump air into it and check for leaks with soapy water. Tire checked out OK but have a pin hole On the inside of rim. If I had access to a welder Id have put a spot of weld on the pin hole. I did have some JB weld if it holds air in the morning Ill keep it as a spare if it leaks it goes in The dumpster. Needless to say a new set of tires and maybe one new rim is going to happen ASAP
  5. Im needing to replace my Travel trailer tires some time soon. The original tires are showing a lot of ware. Ive looked on line and it seems like Carlisle is a good tire. What is tour opinion on these or is there another brand I should consider? Its a single axel 19 ‘ T T empty weight about 5,000 lbs.
  6. Now that is an option I had not thought of. Do you know where to catch the ferry?
  7. Hey this is All great info. I think I will plan to cross the bridge. I really didn’t want to go south Chicago, South Bend and all that. Thanks all
  8. I’M headed to N W part of lower Michigan for the summer. Looking for information about taking the. northern route and going over the Mackinaw bridge with 20’ travel trailer and pick up. The other option of course is going south around Lake Michigan. WhTs tour thoughts? I need to be at job site by May 9. George
  9. thanks the 8” sounds great the price is not the issue for me. The gps that came with the truck is not that good. And out dated needs up dating but is expensive to up grade. I’ve been looking at the garmins since you all mention them just have to decide which one
  10. I am ready to change navigation system. I have a GPS in my Ram truck that leaves a lot to be desired. It needs up dating but there is a fee for that. I'm thinking Garmin is the way to go. My question is what unit should I be looking at? I like a larger screen , and Ive been reading about some units made especially for R V's what is the difference between regular and r v unit. I like the idea of free up dates, traffic info. Thanks for any info George the Greek
  11. Thanks. East of the Mississippi US cell has been outstanding for me but west of big muddy their foot print is sketchy 11 years I had US cell now its time for a divorce.
  12. Hey all I’m thinking about changing cell providers. I’ve been with U S CELL for many years. When I lived and farmed in Wisconsin, it was my beat choice price, coverage, and support. Many times friends would visit with their Verizon or sprint phones and be cussing about poor coverage in my remote area while I had great coverage with US Cell. now that Im traveling full time Im finding out this provider is not doing as well out on the road. Many others are getting great coverage with other providers. I’m needing opinions on which is your favorite carrier and why. I do use the phone for some calls on the road but find I do more text and E mail than actual calling these days. Also use the data for internet and directions and the camera. my I phone 6 -S is getting old and is time to replace and a good time to switch carriers. Any and all information is appreciated. Thanks George the Greek
  13. Yea Kirk when I was up that way last year it was crowded and any flat spot along the was was full of R V’s This year the LTVA’s had a lot of empty spaces. The parks in town seemed to have a good amount of rigs in them at the show I was a le to park right close to the tent
  14. Just when I was beginning to think it was easier to get the first position last year than get the second this year, bingo! got many offers now to consider One place offered a position with 32 hrs.@ week paid and a site FHU, its a huge place in Utah. another in Colorado I didn't get a good feeling on the phone interview and declined especially after last years issues 🥵 then spoke with a place in Michigan I like there way of doing business and felt good about the interview. I was hoping this would pan out but know I cannot worry about what I can not control. Low abd behold I got a E mail yesterday about they still doing interviews and hoped I was still interested. My reply was yes still interested but I am searching other options. Today I get the official offer and complete description of job duties and compensation. I believe I will sign on the dotted line when it comes. You all have given me much knowledge and helpful encouragement to not get locked into another situation like last year. Thanks and I'll let you know if and when its a done deal George the Greek
  15. I was up that way yesterday a few things I noticed, boon dockers were in the BLM areas but certainly not full and many places had a lot of room. The tent was shorter. There was a few R V type vendors and many many non R V vendors. Was defiantly less of a R V show and I was able to get parking right near the big tent
