  4. I would venture a guess that the spring be pre-tensioned with the slide retracted. This would allow the topper to be under tension when the slide is retracted. This would prevent the topper from "ballooning" while traveling. JMHO ShortyO
  5. I replaced all of the Air Springs on my Gen-1 last week. The replacement springs came with brackets attached some of which were removed due to the bolts on the frame would not turn loose. ShortyO
  6. All gauges work, nothing seems out of the ordinary. I have driven the truck over 1,00 miles since the DID went blank. I noticed the blank DID ON START-UP AFTER AN OVERNIGHT STOP. sHORTYo
  7. The Driver Information display on my Gen 1 Volvo went blank. I checked the fuse listing and it said F-12 was for DID. When I looked at my fuse bank F-12 was empty. I put a 5 amp fuse in the empty slot and nothing still on the display. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to start TS? ShorryO
  8. I would start by replacing the governer. ShortyO
  9. I put a Blue Ox baseplate on our 453 and winch it up. One time of the clutches overheating and shutting the car down completely convinced me. ShortyO
  10. US 191 between I-40 and I-70 has grades up to 7 percent and many switchbacks. Pulling a 14,00lb trailer with an F-250 will be an EXPERIENCE. It will be hard on both transmission going up and brakes going down. Just my opinion , which is worth exactly what you paid for it. ShortyO

  12. I would start with a trip to the local Pete dealer and purchase 4 new matching batteriies Most times one of the Class 8 dealers will have a battery on special which will beat the Sam's Club or Costco on price. ShortyO

    I have 3 RKI boxes. Two underbed and one cross bed from my peecup. RKI has a good name in the oil patch. ShortyO

  18. I can remember assembling a Glider when I was a truck mechanic in 1959 in an IH Factory Branch shop.It was B-1800 chassis in which we installed a 549 cu.in. V8. The largest engine available from the factory was 345 cu.in.. ShortyO

  20. What are some ideas about pulling a 5er from Vernal to Rock Springs. I am towing with a Class 8 truck so climbing and stopping are no problem. I know that the atlas shows many switcbacks. Thanks ShortyO
