  1. I won't get into this discussion on types. But I suggest if you are replacing yours due to age/whatever, find a safe allowed spot & try the old one on a small controlled fire. You/spouse get the real life practice and may be surprised at how little they really do.
  2. OK, I agree w/ almost all on this thread. But if you're going to discuss trucks with people who KNOW trucks, don't call the dang thing "cummin G s", or a "Peterb U ilt". Shows your ignorance or you can't read a nameplate. I feel much better now..................................
  3. OK, looks like the dreaded "headliner replacement" is on the horizon. Anybody done one? Vinyl, 1/4" foam, luan & Styrofoam. Factory sent me instructions on how to do it, & panels are relatively cheap. Can't find a shop competent to do that here closer than Elkhart
  4. Second on the PVC. But I would add another 2" conduit run alongside the frame front to rear. Rear camera, wiring problem w/ rear lights, etc all made easier. If your rig has open frame & no belly pan, maybe not necessary.
  5. If there is an obvious safety violation (like a badly wobbling wheel) they can (& should) even pull over & check the Popemobile.
  6. Or test the fan leads for power.

    New impact

Yeah, but they'll usually cut a deal for cash.

    New impact

I buy most of my tools at a pawn shop. Good quality name brands, will last for years with my use. And usually cheaper than Horrible.
  9. Tks! I'd love to get it sprayed, but I think the cost/benefit would kill it. I put a 1/2" layer of pink styro in a boat overhead & that helped the A/C a lot.
  10. Looks like I may have to replace several headliner panels due to a leak. Current setup is vinyl over 1/4 foam, over wood and 3/4" Styrofoam on top for insulation (?). Well, there's gotta' be better, has anyone done anything different? With the headliner down, now's the time. Search on here came up 0
  11. I have always been told that tires stored for months should be lifted off the ground or concrete. My rig's tires are on boards in a storage lot, never had any problem w/flat spotting etc.

    HDT in Virginia

In MD there is a form (VR95) that you can self-certify that 4 out of 7 required things are on board. (Toilet, etc). You then become a "multi-purpose vehicle". Look into what school bus conversions do and that may give you a route.
  13. Well, I turn the Jetpack OFF when we're not actually watching stuff. Tks for the reply.
  14. OK, read a LOT of the thread here. Have a Jetpack with supposedly unlimited. After maybe 10 hrs of HGTV, it tells me it's dropping & I see a lot of buffering. Does 10 hrs use that much ? What solution has anybody arrived at? We have no other source at home like cable, this was supposedly going to serve both home & OTR. I'm getting ready to drop the plan & float-test it.
  15. Charging extra per pet is as onerous as the CG's that charge $ .25 for showers at the bathhouse.
  16. I don't know what you tow with. But it may be a LOT cheaper to find someone locally with a short wheelbase truck to park it for you the few (?) times needed. Second option- go buy a commercial pup dolly like from double bottoms. Must be 1000 of them out there, yeah it's ugly But so is $2200..........................
  17. If you are faced with a scenario at home, etc, then a tug is your answer. If you are planning to have to use a tug while on the road, I then second the answers above to practice. If you can't back it up in on-the-road or normal CG situations, you have no business driving it until you can. OK, let er' rip!

    Value of Truck

The value anybody reads out of a book will not take into account any mods you have done, nor the actual condition of it. You want to nail a value? Pay a qualified RV appraiser to do a workup w/ pictures etc. I had mine done last year when painted, cost me $250. If you have a "total loss" (not crashed) like a theft or complete burn, it's the only way you will get anywhere NEAR what it's worth, on the record and by an independent 3rd party. And yes, you can take that to the bank, literally.
  19. I looked at the petsafety thing. Expensive, and the monitoring adds up. I'm going to buy Temp Stick for $139 & NO monthly fee.
  20. The point I would make is anyone with air brakes should understand the system. I might be in front of him some day.
  21. X 2 on how to do a DOT air brake check.
  22. I have & love my dogs. But God in His wisdom has made some species as food, and their noise is to help predators locate them quickly.
  23. With Veteran's day approaching, I hope all of you who qualify have taken advantage of the Verizon discount. & Tks for your service !
  24. A used square boat fuel tank would be a lot cheaper, look at Craig's under boat parts. Lots of shapes/sizes avail. Here's a local example https://easternshore.craigslist.org/bpo/d/fuel-tank-35-gal-marine/6679574353.html
