  1. I have a Gulfstream Conquest Super-C.  This is built on a Chevrolet Kodiak chassis.  One advantage I see is that unlike the van-based Class C, the front wheels are set out at full track width.

There driveline is the 8.1 gasoline engine and Allison 4-speed automatic, just like my 2004 3/4-ton Suburban.

Flying J and some other truck stops have a special RV island that has both gasoline and diesel available as well as water, propane and a dump station.

Is there a listing anywhere of the locations of these places?  I'm happy to preplan my fuel stops on trips to places I have not been, but the few guides I have seen with "RV-Friendly" notes have been unreliable for big-rig gasoline.

We lived in a gasoline powered class A for 12 years and went everywhere we wished, even while towing a vehicle. It is true that we didn't win any races, but then racing was not a part of our plan. There may be a few diesel powered rigs for rental, but they are sure to cost significantly more. Thousands of people rent from those companies and are successful in traveling anywhere that was mentioned in the first post.

Access to gasoline has been a problem for me while towing my car trailer with my Super-C. I'm so tired of hearing truck-stop people tell me "it's out front for the cars".

I want to start a database of places where one can get gasoline as easily as diesel.  If there is already such a database, please point me to it!

At least I know that I can get gasoline at the Stockman's Truck Stop just off I-494 in South Saint Paul Minnesota.

  4. We had a great experience with The Original Mattress Factory for our short queen innerspring.  Only 50 bucks extra for the custom size.

No extra charge for the "hinge", which is not detectable when you are sleeping on it, but allows you to fold the mattress top to bottom for ease of entry to the MH, and is also a help when you flip the mattress.

The hinge was a no-charge extra on the queen, but the salesman said they routinely include it on king.

Is there something wrong with camping out in a Tent??

Absolutely nothing wrong with camping out in a tent, if that's what you are into.  But it is not the same as living in an RV.  If one is planning on living in a tent, as was stated in the original post, one is better-advised to spend one's Internet time on tent-camping fora.

  6. Does is make sense to drain the water tank and then put a few gallons of RV stuff in the water tank and do all the flushing from there?

I would plan on sanitizing the system in the spring, as i have not sanitized it since I bought it.

Other than draining the water heater, what possible things are there to avoid forgetting?

Thetford toilet has no trap, so water heater and the traps in the two sinks and the shower/tub seem to be all to worry about.

I assume that having RV antifreeze in the water tank, the blackwater tank and the greywater tank all winter will be OK.
