  1. A few years ago, our regional RV club was hosting a rally for the national club.  One of our host couples gave us all plastic pink flamingos to put in front of our RV's to identify us as hosts so that other members could contact us for any rally questions or issues.  We never heard about this other meaning, and I wonder now if some of the people in the RV resort thought we had a big gathering of swingers!

  2. After spending a lot of $$ on Kindle books over the past few years, I recently got a library card from our local library system.  They have an ebook program where you can check out ebooks for 3 weeks at no charge.  I'm currently going through Lee Child's Jack Reacher series.  It seems like the library has all of them available.

  3. The service in Crestview, FL, MyRVMail, is who we use for our mailing service.  They are not associated with any RV park.  Their address (and mine) is their office street address.  It is recognized as a valid address by the state of Florida for drivers licenses and vehicle registration.  For voting, if you are using the MyRVMail address as your domicile, you are assigned the address of the courthouse in Crestview.

  4. We used to go to Premier Medical in Bushnell, but weren't very pleased with the staff, or the way the office was run.  It seemed like we had problems with billings, appointments, lab tests, etc. at every visit.  Now we go to HCA Florida Oak Hill in Brooksville, and really like it.  It is a teaching clinic, so you are assigned to an intern and an attending physician.  The intern does the routine stuff, and the attending reviews everything and steps in when needed.  They are very efficient and thorough.  As far as a dentist, I would not recommend Sumter Value Dental.  They were overly agressive on what they thought should be done, and after I went back to my old dentist in GA, found that most of the work they wanted to do was not needed. Also had a bad experience there with a tooth that was pulled that probably didn't need to be done.  I'm still looking for a dentist in Bushnell or the surrounding area.

  5. Looking at the closest diesel station in network for both, it is the T/A in Wildwood, FL.  The retail price is $3.67 per gallon.  Escapees card price is discounted to $3.45, and the TDS price is $2.97.  Other T/A stations around the area show similar variances in discounts.  For non-T/A locations, the next nearest in network station for the Escapees card is the Speedway in Brooksville, FL.  (This station is a little difficult to maneuver for big rigs).  The retail price for diesel is $3.39, and the Escapees card price is discounted to $2.97.  TDS does not have a discount for this station.

  6. I am not seeing what the irrational fear of this new variant is all about.  It's doing what viruses do when they evolve, and turning into a more contagious but less potent version of the disease.  The symptoms are milder, and the hospitalization and death rate so far is zero.  This variant appears to be the waning of the disease.

  7. I'm in Sumter Oaks now, and we have spent the winters here for the past several years.  It is common for a deputy from the Sheriff's office to come by a site in the park to do a VIN verification.  Lot's of folks come to this park just for that reason.
