  1. A quick update on your adopted classemates from 2006... The Polish Prince Paulie and I are settled into Llano Grande RV Resort in Mercedes Tx. Paul's dad is here at John Knox Retirement Village. He will be 94 in March and he seems to be declining more than we had anticipated. We have decided to bite the bullet and purchase a small single wide here at Llano as a homebase. Both of us are having some health issues...a recent test Paul took indicated that now BOTH of us have Crohn's Disease (how is that possible...it's not contageous as far as the doc says ). I have been having back problems and went for an xray and bone density test. I have 5 (can you believe it?) 5 compression fractures in my back and my osteoporosis is getting worse. Crap. The doc wanted to know how I was able to walk, and said most people would be incapacitated with one. I guess both Paulie and I have high pain tolerences. I have also registered for a sculpture class that starts in January and ends in mid May. We hopefully be ready to travel by then. We will be heading to a wedding in Muskegon MI and want to spend several months with family in both MI and IL. Merry Christmas to you all and have a wonderful and safe New Year wherever you park your home on wheels.

  3. Thanks for the links, you lovely Hams. Paul and I are now salivating over Foretravels. They are so well built, even the older ones are beautiful. We will keep our eyes and ears open and maybe someday we'll find the perfect rig. We sure were impressed with yours! Will you guys been venturing down to the valley? We sure did enjoy meeting you both along with all the '06 grads. I'll be following your blog too...I am so lazy, I can't remember when I posted on mine. Gotta get back into the groove. It is very quiet down here. We are one of perhaps 5 rigs in the east section at this park. We have the pool to ourselves and the weather is perfect. Paul's dad is the talk of the valley...he is the "star" of the new tv commercial for John Knox Village in Weslaco. Everywhere we go, folks tell us they saw the old guy dancing on tv. Too Funny. Any Winter Texans arriving can find us at Llano Grande...Gonzales burgers is open for biz, Padre Island is looking great and there is no humidity at the moment. We actually saw an Ontario license plate today! dennise
  4. Arrived in the RGV on Thursday night after a short stay in Livingston. Landed at Llano Grande RV Resort in Mercedes and will be here til Jan 1 when we will head west to Q. Still quite warm here! The park is deserted and we have three swimming pools to ourselves! Paul's dad Gene is at John Knox village and at almost 94 he is amazing. All the ladies fawn all over him. Poor old guy.... Suzanne and Jeff...we went to Nacogdoches and looked at Foretravels. I am in awe. Too bad we don't have $$$!!! Paul and Dennise
  5. OK, I have finally talked Paulie into going to Q this winter. Are there any plans for class get togethers for January? This will be our first trip and we are looking forward to it. We are currently in west Memphis at Tom Sawyer's on the Mississippi enjoying the sunset. Spent over a week in Elkhart after the Escapade getting some work done on the coach. Boy, was it ever hopping around there! We pigged out on prime rib at Dandinos twice and then discovered the Chicken Coop for breakfast. Gotta start walking again, these ol jeans are snugging up a bit! Heading to the RGV to see that 93 year old swinger down in Weslaco. Not sure where to stay this week. Have heard Llano Grande is under water...the golf course is prolly closed this year. Hope there are some folks we can meet up with this fall. hugs dennise
  6. Loved seeing everyone at the Escapade. Our '06 class rocks! We left Goshen and headed down the road to Elkhart to order our new slide toppers. What an expensive way to overcome a really bad design flaw! The complimentary hookups were all taken so we boondocked and on Saturday morning headed to Chicago. Met some old friends and saw the step daughter and family. Had Lou Malnati's pizza which was worth the trip. Just my humble opinion, but we need some new seminars at the Escapade. I think I shall put on my marketing cap and make some suggestions. I guess the big probltem is holding seminars taught by experts. I attended a RV remodel seminar last fall at the Gypsy gathering which was very good and it was put on by two folks who had done some of their own renos. I know if I have deep pockets I can pay someone to do them, but maybe some handy guy could tell us how to change out a sink faucet or replace the plastic sink which I detest in the bathroom. I know this may sound stupid to the handy andy's out there, but we need some advice, lol! Right now we are looking(well, I am looking) to change out the tacky brass handles and hinges on the gazillion cabinets we have and finding some updated lighting fixtures. I have read on countless forms that folks take regular fixtures from like Lowe's and rewired them to 12 volt. How does one do that. I have this post in the general rv section but really haven't gotten any answers on that question yet. Paulie and I are planning to go to Quartzite in January. Looking forward to meeting up with any 06er's there if possible. hugs dennise
  7. Hi everyone, hopes this finds you all well, or on the way back! We are heading out of Springfield, IL to Goshen for the Escapade tomorrow, the 9th. Are there any plans for the class at the Escapade? We are actually class of '06 but '07 "adopted" us 'cause we kept showing up for all the great food events and great times the 07ers have. I've posted on the '06 list but so far not alot of responses just yet... After the rally we are heading back down to the RGV...any suggestions for parks in the area? We are thinking about going back to Llano Grande, but are open to suggestions. Dennise
  8. Paul and I willl be in H2 at the Escapade. Would love to re-aquaint ourselves with our '06 classmates! We have been adopted by the class of '07 'cause we kept crashing all the foodie events they have, . Please let us know what we can bring to the gathering... We are arriving on Friday the 10th. Dennise
  9. Gonzalez' on Thursday...Paul and I would love to meet some of our new to us classmates...we were officially "adopted" by the class of 2007 last fall at the Gypsy Journal Rally in Celina OH. Ron and Linda...when are you arriving in the Valley? We are settin' to leave on Feb 1...going to see my mom in Tampa. The other "cold spot" this winter! dennise
  10. Hi...I have to apologize to Jay and Fay and the others who met at Gonzales Burgers on Thursday. I have been fighting this colitis thing and finally had to be admitted to the hospital on Wednesday. I'm sorry that I didn't put John and Lora's phone number in my cell to call to explan our absence. I just got home today after three horrible days of poking and proding and still have the same problems. Waiting for biopsies to come back early next week. dennise
  11. this link might help...it has a photo of the place.... http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseacti...id/23135532.cfm

  13. Gonzales for burgers and lunch sounds great. I have to confess, Paul and I have YET to get there. I know....I know...we don't do lunch out too often...but this sounds like a perfect time to try them. They are legenday burgers among the Winter Texans. No snowbirds here...Winter Texans, y'all dennise
  14. We are at Rio Valley Estates....! We are on Westlake Drive, and Pike Street....across from the Weslaco HS football stadium....Would love to meet some more of our new classmates!
