  1. We will be out of the country for the next three weeks, but when we return our entire rig will be on the market.

1999 Volvo VNL 610 singled; smart deck; 633k miles.

2005 Newmar Mountain Aire; 37 ft.; MorRyde Independent suspension on 9K axles installed in 2017; 8 new Michelin R16 XPS ribs in 2019 with about 4,500 miles since then.

2013 smart Passion with City Flame Pkg. 23k miles.

    e-mail for more details: xk120OTS@hotmail.com

The trailer suffered from the last two years in the Arizona sun, so it needs paint. Interior is as close to new as possible.

    Located in Tucson, AZ

$50k for the entire rig, less $10k for new paint= $40,000 for all 3!

  2. Our first was 2005 450 Passion. Gray market out of Germany, federalized. 62nd smart in the US. Good runner, rough ride until I upgraded the tires. Mercedes built gas turbo. A few issues with the US added emissions equip and it had developed a crack in the turbo housing that would have become an issue if it had not been involved in a fender bender. It was repairable, but insurance co. wrote it off due to gray market parts. Paid me a fair price.

Our second was a 2011 451 Passion. Mitsubishi gas naturally aspirated, a tad bit slower than the Mercedes turbo, but better ride. Gave it's life to save mine.

Our current is a 2013 451 Passion with the CityFlame package, noticeably better ride than the other two, probably due to tires.

    No experience with a 453.

  3. Anyone else suffering brain fade from not being on the road the last two years? Headed out Thursday, first time the trailer has moved since September 2019! Inactive due to pandemic.

1st night the BigFoot auto level does not work. Front jacks OK, nothing else works. 2nd night, same thing. 3rd night I look at the operating instructions and discovered I was pushing the wrong button! Duh! Head slap! (speaking of which I walked into a slide with my head yesterday - first time I've done that in 20+ years!)

Told the DW "I fixed the jacks!" She had the temerity to ask "How?"!

BTW - our rig will be for sale in October. Time to get off the road.

  4. Our 2005 gray market smart had a small black box, maybe 1"x2". If I unscrewed it and flipped it upside down it disabled the traction control. That little bugger was a hoot in the snow with it disabled! Of course it also had four Blizzaks!

Never looked on our 2011 or the current 2013.

  5. The Continentals on our 2006 Passion were terrible. Replaced them with 185/55R15 Hankooks and they transformed both ride and handling for the better.

Our 2011 and current 2013 are noticeably better riding.

  6. Has anyone come up with a ramp that will get a 70 lb. dog into their truck? We are fostering a dog, a bigger one then we planned on, and if she does not get adopted we could not stand to turn her back into the no-kill shelter. So ... we may end up keeping her if we can figure out a way to take her with us in the Volvo! Any ideas?

I find it interesting how the rig came with 50 amps and only has one AC. Usually it would be a 30amp connection with one AC and 50amp when you have two.

Our Newmar has 50 Amp, one AC, and two furnaces. Generalities don't always apply.

Carl I always travel with about a 1/2 tank of water. We have had the no water at the park problem 6 times in 11 years for various reasons (broken pipes, no electric, bad screen in the well).

Same here for the same reasons.

WE hear pretty much the same thing but I do explain to folks there are a lot more of us that do this then you think. I also get  " I saw you in another park" , sorry no that was not us and we have YET to visit that state, probably someone else. We have waved to someone else passing the other direction so we just try our best to educate folks when spoke to.

Yeah, we've had the "Saw you in ...." a number of times.

As far as frequency of seeing others, probably less this year, I know we have not been on the road since last fall. The longest time the fiver has sat unused since we bought it 13 years aog!

My first trip pulling my trailer with my Volvo and the cruise control wouldn't work. My brother had driven the truck to Florida for me and was right behind me. We had radio's to communicate and I asked him if it had worked on the trip. He said you have to apply the brakes before the cruise control will work. Since starting the trip I had not had to apply the brake, hit all the lights and was on the freeway in nothing flat. I pressed lightly on the brake pedal and nothing. I quickly stabbed the pedal hard and then hit the cruise and success.  I now try to stop once before I head on the interstate so I'm not hitting the brake at 70 because the cruise won't engage.  Didn't see anyone above share the fact.

Yup, same thing on my '99 Volvo. In fact, the operating info on the sun visor spells it out. As I recall it actually says to apply the service brake for 15 seconds after start to "activate" the cruise control. I can't count the number of times I have rolled out of rest area without hitting the brakes and then no cruise.
