  1. But still each time the Escapees mail service has to do some hand sorting. More over head which we pay for. In December, that really slows the mail. I will add the the Nashville CMS does used the 9 digit Zip so the Nashville CMS can be half right. I glad that the Escapees mail service worries about me getting my mail. I guess I should be happy the Nashville CMS is not piloting an airliner. Clay
  2. And then there those you have business with will not use your Site#/PMB. The Social Security has my complete address and uses it correctly. The Social Security is the source of address for Medicare, so I'm told. Medicare/Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will tell if your address is in error contact the Social Security office. I does not help as Nashville office CMS still will not use my #xxxx thus manual sorting of mail required. This has been looked into with my US Congress personnel, they thought it was fixed but NO. But dealing with the US Gov't on all other official business has not been a problem. My take is the Escapee's mail service knows where I have been and many times the Escapee's mail service knows more than my kids. If I used a S&B address for some businesses, people would never locate me. I have said to a business "If you want me to like you, use my address" Clay Domicile Texas but seldom in Livingston but love to do business with those fine people
  3. I can't give you any advice on the white knuckle part of your drive but once you get out the city it a easy drive on route 285 to and then north on 24. Less canyons, corners and what use to be less aggressive drivers. Just remember on the big hills save your brakes and use your transmission & engine to keep your under control. Something that makes Freeway driving also white knuckle to me. Enjoy, Clay with a fifth wheel
  4. I have a CB which I seldom use but when pull alone I do turn it on when traffic stopped to figure out the problem and which lane I should be in just by listening. Clay with a 40 foot fifth wheel

    Purchasing Fuel

I'm the runner and pumper but not always the receipt receiver. It works but got me in trouble last fall. Inside I asked for $300 worth of fuel. I signed my name, my signature accepted and the electric power failed. The UPS failed to catch their computer so until the power was restored, computer restarted my credit card was authorized to give the pump $300 worth of fuel and couldn't cancel. So I waited and 75 minutes later I exited the station with $295 worth of fuel. I don't what would have happened if I had paid cash and been authorized. Now with it starting to get dark and was Dark upon getting to the campground. One of my wife's worse fears and that is a difference story $s Clay
  8. My suggestion is go your local RV part store and buy your lights. I have standard factory installed night lights on the stair and in the bathroom. Replacement lamps are only available from a Chinese supplier. My light switch is near the Fuse panel wired wired to lamps from there. Clay 2016 Mobile Suites
  9. I have used WalMart on line with in-store pick-up as a option. Works good but not as wide of selection as Amazon, but many other stores will allow in store pick-up. Problem with Amazon is most items you need now require a day or so for delivery or lost. Searching locally for businesses that may have your items can put items in your hand less than a 100 mile drive. If your more remote than that, do as we did 60 or so years ago find someone in town that will accept packages. Clay
  10. For what your asking, this Forum may give more answers. http://www.thorforums.com/forums/#thor-community-forums Happy Travels Clay
  11. Ditto I would start by checking connections Clay
  12. How many have I joined me and don't care what the park Management says, BUTTT when it rains I get the rain coat and brush out. I clean the front and rear caps. I only use a hose if the rain stops before finished. Never had a problem. I do pay for one full cleaning yearly plus one DIY on the FW. I wash truck myself more often for about 40 quarters. Clay 2016 DRV and FL
  13. Been there Done done that but difference states. You didn't mention your ages so I presume your under 65. My case, we are were over 70, I'm a Texas resident with Illinois wages (Deferred Comp) and my wife is a Illinois Resident with no retirement income taxable in Illinois. We file jointly on Federal Income and Illinois State Income. I use an Illinois CPA as Illinois is the more complicated. We married in Nov so the partial year we did file separate but jointly since using my Texas address. NO PROBLEMS and Great Saving. Have your CPA figure the taxes both ways to see what saving you find. It shouldn't cost any difference to figure both ways of taxes due. Clay
  14. Ditto, glad no one hurt. Just another reason I don't like big trees to park near. Clay
  15. I joined the Escapees when I was just an occasional RV'er. I sold my B&S Home and the RV became my Home for over a year until I remarried. Question, during that time was I full or part time? Now my wife has a home which is home base during summer and fall so I'm a Part Timer. Answering your question. At some time the majority of the Escapee's are or have been full time Clay
  16. On the 1000 vs 2800 watt invertor. I have the 2800 with a generator thus a 1000 watt would be applicable. That said my Electrical would be more specific. I have a one outlet in the bedroom for Medical devices and one outlet for the Satellite receiver plus the refrigator Clay
  17. With a small Vehicle it gets easier to find a spot to park. I frequently call about 2 in the afternoon as a cancellation my exist for overnight. A weeks stay takes some planning Happy travels Clay
  18. When I order my latest FW, the salesman recommended trying the OEM vs Amish built furniture. Very quickly the RV was ordered without the sofa and recliners. The mattress was replaced with the Spring Aire taken from my trade. We are very happy with the result. Clay 2016 DRV MS 38PS3
  19. I'm 76 and not ready to park it yet. My first Love passed away at 63 and are plans was to start traveling as she turned 64. A neighbor often stated travel as your able. That is my plan although my second Love of 2 1/2 years did have a medical problem so the RV is parked for up to 3 months opposed to one month previous summers. I think we just going to see bigger Mosquitoes when we to get to Northern MN. Clay
  20. Dick you looked the same place as I did and missed it, Maybe 12 inches from those side to side bushing or a foot forward on the Left to Right part of sway bar, you should find vertical shafts installed. I had to open the hood and look down at the shaft, the bushing are between the frame. Clay
  21. Just checked mine with the Feb 2014 built date. The 4 grommets are there but show some wear from loosening. I need to gather more parts for some cooler day. Thanks for the TIP Clay
  22. I have a 40 ft FW now but after my first Love passed I had a 22 ft Class C. Loved it. Even went on the roads that said no RV's but watched the height. Beauty of the little Class C which was fully self-contained, I could pull into a friend's drive (if flat) run an 110 extension cord and plug in for refrig power and hot water. With the generator I could stop any where get the Electric Skillet out and cook a good meal. I have seem people travel to AZ for the winter and be comfortable for months. The down side of my little Class C was it had a wet Bathroom (meaning that when to you use the Bathroom for the three things intended, your feet are in the same spot. Showing uses a shower curtain to prevent the sink area from getting wet.) Most campgrounds have public showers so no problem. My Class C had seat belts for 4 people so great for short trip with friends. I went with a FW when I decided to settle down again. The only down side now is my wife does not have the proper drivers license to pull the heavy FW. Go for what you feel fits your life style and live the plan. There are lots of opportunities earn some a few dollars but watch what the medical insurance will cost for the life style. Clay Minus 3 this morning but hoping to be in Texas next week.
  23. It has been impossible to keep all insects old but spraying around the base of the RV has been my best defense. For Mice, fresh De Con does the trick for me. If the mice come they never stay long. In a 40 foot fifth wheel I use 5 bait traps (2 in the basement) and watch for eating.activity. I had one occurrence on a similar sized FW, Part of the DeCon disappeared to never be found, but the mice left. Clay
  24. I appreciate you mentioning youtude as that often overlook them. I think sometimes the problem is getting the unit out to work on the item. However this case it is open door removing a gasket. The repairmen gave the old switch a year ago so I figured out the problem. I have already made the present switch work again but suspect good for 6 months ?
  25. Its been a year and again I do not have a happy wife. I was winterizing and the washer wouldn't run so I'm not in a good mood. Same problem as this started out but the warranty has expired and Whirlpool is telling me $100+ for the Part. These are defective door switches. My front load whirlpool washer is M/n WFC 7500 VW2 Anyone else having Problems? Clay
