  1. trying to get it into the dealer, so they can work on it. no way is my arm going to allow me to do this job. its the shits i can not do it, i am used to taking care of things my self.
  2. will look at that. but seeing as the diff is coated from the seal down and back, was not before (150K miles).
  3. well as of this am. gear oil under the truck. blown pinion bearing seal. can not get parts till thursday or friday. so trip is off. get to stay home and clean up storm damage, pick up leaves, get a couple little projects done, etc.
  4. beats last night, got hit hard by a storm., lots of snow up the hill. hwys are closed due to flooding, waiting till sun up to see about the yard here. got lots of work to do cleaning up.
  5. ok, so no problems. my mom says she wants to go so bring her along. does not get around very good. but says she will try. been showing her lots of videos online of the area. so she kinda knows what she is getting into. (not much of a outdoor kind of lady). out of here on tuesday (8:am, i get off work about midnight to 2:am) sleep over on the rd, to show up wed in the am. trying to do a easy drive for her. but now to drop the dollars and get fresh food. and such. yes have onboard water + a bladder in the back of my pu. whats the weather to be like next week into the one after?as i can do wed (jan 23) for a week after that. then back to the grind, on saturday the second. (my monday).
  6. now i am confused???????? where is camp? just out of town or miles away? do to days off could not get this week off, but will be there by wed (thursday am latest) next week. thought just south east of town by a couple miles, but now? it is north east about 15 miles out?
  7. the way it is used is how it works, it is more a surprise thing. than a chew toy.
  8. i get to wait a couple-four months after the 66.10 due to collecting that years vac, ph days, and sick days pay. total of 8 weeks pay. now if there is a way to get it early. or by that time i just do not care...
  9. seeing as i have now less than 8 years to go, might have to renew twice buy then,. then no more driving for pay. sure driving a heavy truck, looks good to some. sure has plenty of giddy up and woe down. but after 41 + years of driving for a living, i never want to get back into one of the "big rigs". i have driven some truly trash trucks. (as in should be hauled away as), to some great condo cabs.
  10. sad i get to wait till i am 67. income money thing, as i am not rich. the corrupt banking bubble took all my money. but if i could just know at least the year i was to die, i would charge up a huge debt first. my last hura to get back at the "man".
  11. i hate new laws, but need a fed one giving everyone clear notice about a up coming toll. (as in three foot tall letters, first sign one mile before and again a quarter mile before the last off ramp), so they can get safely off before the toll rd. we already pay rd taxes, no need to pay again to use public roads.
  12. must be great to be rich. i must work till 100% socialist insecurity, has been reached. had some money, but it went pop with the housing market years back. but had nothing like some here talk about, like it is pocket change. in 8 years i will be lucky to get (total all sources) $3, grand a month, gross. but hope to manage not having to go back to work just to eat.
  13. well not sure if the income would be worth it, but having never rented out a place, whats up with doing such (yes bad renters fear). taxes? issues with domicile? thinking using a "renting service" and they send me a check each month. yes costs, but no worry's about fixing that water heater when i am across the country. no my house is not a huge mansion. it is only about 1100 sq feet. a two and one, detached, but a good sized back yard. at today's pricing i guess about $900 to $1200 a month. all new to me so searching for input. as i have some years to go before pulling the cord.

    Tow Vehicle Advice

forget mpg. think more in the line of hrs. and torque. how slow do you want to pull up that hill? how many years or miles do you want to get out of the motor? yes maintance costs. but less than replacments. most newer diesel trucks are well insulated. and motors clatter is much less than in years past. so motor noise is lower. even rd noise. diesel fuel is at almost at every fuel station these days. for pulling or rd duty a diesel can not be beat. but new trucks at a dealer is going to cost extra. think tax frendly states to buy in. ( south dakota is only 4% sales tax, texas is 6% sales tax).
  15. 2gypsies . not a member but if all goes as i plan should show up on the 16th, 17th am worst case. homeward bound by the 24th. (still have to work, my monday for the next 4 months is saturdays). any company reps there? as i still have 8 years to keep working time to start gathering info and where to domicile in 2027. sounds like a long time from now, but will be here soon.
  16. 2gypsies, yes not a current shot. just said one camper for a reference, nothing more. pappy yokum, true just jump through the hoops and you can do "show truck" or a "camper". special rules apply here. chad heiser, yes has gotten off topic. i am willing to coincide to others, as i only know what i know, from doing such. and i only tow doubles when and as needed, but prefer not to pull a second trailer.... even at work. on with the show.
  17. yes can say that. i have been trying to use google to find the camp spot. but the gps numbers given do not line up with what i belive is the site.using written direction i find. my computer program says N 33'38'57.12" W114'08'42.72 mitchell mine rd sound right? close by but a bit north of that point i see one camper. on another dirt rd.
  18. sad for me even if i am riding a moto down the rd i am subject to full dot regs. aka: double the ticket price, double the points.( and i get only half as many points as reg folk, before i lose my permit to drive) and i must report said ticket to my employer asap. so there is a perk. but under many other rules that govern my off duty life.
  19. not wanting to get into a fight here. but i know what i know. and have towed many miles in the states i listed. never had any trouble. by state. or local, not even tribal police. maybe in the thousands of miles i driven in these states i have not been seen by a ticket cop?
  20. pulling tripples is only allowed in some states. pulling doubles is legal in all fifety states when the driver has a proper commercial dl with the corect endorsments. i am a commercial class A driver.with proper endosments. all pu trucks in ca are regestered as commercial trucks. first trailer must be a semi trailer, aka: fifth-wheel. not a bumper pull. can not be over 75 feet long. can not excide the tow rating of the truck pulling said trailers. with this said ca is more restrive than most other states in the west. known, nevada legal, oregon legal, washington legal, idaho legal, colorado legal, true i have not driven in arazona or new mexico or texas, oklahoma, montana or the dakotas. but those states are known to be more open to varied trailers (aka: less laws) than ca is. i have lived under fed dot laws and regs most of my life (35 years class A). i can not site them from memory. but do understand there workings. no i would not try to drive down broadway in new york city. in anything let alone pulling a "set". in the decades i have done this ( little trailer up to a car haluer with a cj7 on it). with my rv i have never been pulled over. for any reason. back country roads to major freeways, back wash "burgs" to major traffic laden city's. as a rule and just for cause if i can do without the little tag trailer ( it is the larger trailer sold at lowes hardware stores). i would rather do so.
  21. not sure sbout walking much. ( broken body) but if i tow my little tag along trailer i do have a moto ( kaw klr650) to ride around . but yes i havd a gen so thats where i park. this rv will not get solar mounted, but next one will. so just a portable thing for now. latter today i will know my work hrs/days for the next four months. but looking like i might be able to do the 16th to the 23ed. ( i work thur am - monday at 4:30am). good-bad-? still have 8 years till i do not have to work anylonger. but till then i will try to do and see what and as i can. for now a small 24 ft 5er. want to buy a bigger and better for retirement. if nothing else my unit can fit in everywhere. and with my class A with doubles i can tow a small tag along trailer 😊.
  22. i am planing to do quartsite this jan, any advice as to where to camp? day to arrive before so to get a "better" site. looking to do the "big show". as now i still have to work at a job, so need to plan vac days. I will be boon-docking. i carry extra water (on-board and extra 30 gallon bladder, plus jugs) and have power. (gen and small solar). all in/on a short 5 er. any theft problems? i do lock everything up as best as i can. just never been there. so all new to me. hoping to get a friend or two to tag along. if not then just the three of us. me, my self, and I.
  23. i still vote with your pocket book. at a min should have been a felony two counts. defacing public lands/property. ( he was set up to hide his actions). and two-three counts of training his childern to commit a feloney ( not sure of the law here). it should be a felony to deface lands held in public trusts. he got of way to easly in the court. now time for the public at large to remember him and his actions.
  24. no way, never. impossable. but at one time i said i would never ever pay $0.50 cents for one gallon of gasoline.
