Alie&Jim's Carrilite replied to rearnold's topic in Working on the Road

Now Hiring GasLine Survey Will Train
Alie&Jim's Carrilite replied to rearnold's topic in Working on the Road
Southern Cross is expanding into more utility areas beyond the gas survey and meter replacement. Water meters are also being replaced, gas meter index's are being swapped for ERT style, all the street lighting that is halogen or mercury vapor are being changed to LED etc. Plus every month there are miles of new gas piping being laid. All the new natural gas wells have piping that has to be inspected quarterly. Many systems are moving to a 3-year survey instead of 5-year. There is no lack of work. -

CO/LP detector false alarms
Alie&Jim's Carrilite replied to justRich's topic in General RV Information
Why? My wife tests our smoke alarm all the time cooking. All your doing is letting it detect the gas. Reset it and leave it alone. As someone that has had CO poisoning and survived, I would suggest that the monitors need to be where your head stays, bed height in the bedroom, sitting head height in the living room. I replaced the all in one unit with 3 separate alarms, 1 bedroom CO, 1 livingroom CO, 1 propane at living room floor height -

There have been several topics about using the correct fuel filters. 1 brand, can't remember which, doesn't seal as well and lets air into the system.
-
Is it turning over slow or acting like it's not getting fuel? if turning over slow- Check your battery terminals. Make sure their tight. How old are the batteries?

I have taken time off between jobs with no issues. Work a project, finish, take our time going to the next site, and start / check in when I'm ready to go. I try to keep my boss informed of the when and were's and haven't had any issue in almost a year with them. -

Back in North east Alabama -
No sure you right about the Mobile Suites there CE. DRV builds on a tripple box frame the same as Carriage did. No I-Beam, and Lippert does build the DRV frame.

How large/small is your fulltime budget?
Alie&Jim's Carrilite replied to Kirk W's topic in RVing on a Budget
I included everything that we have spent living on the road. Averaged over the 3 years we have been doing so. So this year was truck tires, last year was more tires, year before was buying all the things we needed- thought we did, and found out we did-, etc. Lump it all together and throw it out there. -

We are currently in Twin Lakes Resort (use the word Resort carefully) Chocowinity NC. Its on Hwy 17s, just south of Hwy 264 in eastern NC. There are sites that are HDT accessible. I'll add this to the Campground list. Near Greenville NC, Washington NC- right across the river, Bath NC, New Bern, all towns with mucho history! -
German Shepards and other large dogs
Alie&Jim's Carrilite replied to MimiRaul's topic in RVing With Pets
Yes, be prepared for other dogs running around off leash. We stayed at a park recently where our neighbors had 3 little dogs. 2 of them were aggressive towards our lab, and were not kept on a leash. They kept apologizing for their dog running up and snipping at Sallie (our lab), I finally told them to put their dog on a %$#@ leash, or face the consequences.. they got the message when Sallie caught and shook one of precious miniature yappers. Sallie dropped it on command and we went on our way. We use one of the retractable leashes. Whenever other pets are near, 20-25', Sallie is always on a short leash. I've been told by probably hundreds of pet owners that their dog won't bite..... that's ok but mine will when provoked. -

We have a 85lb lab that lives with us... Pro's- not nearly as noisy as the smaller breeds Con's- Most decent campgrounds require you to pick up after your pet, big dog= big poo -
That ring and pinion looks a little heavier than the last 9" swap I did! Nice work!

Short drive today to River Plantation RV Resort in Sevierville Tn. Had a few delays on I-40 due to the continuing bridge work, but otherwise uneventful. The campground is HDT friendly, but the sites are a little short, we have maybe 10' to spare in this pull thru site. But they do have a parking area for the trucks we could use if necessary. There is another red Volvo about 2 sites from us that I don't recognize, maybe we'll met them tomorrow. -

Jack, the way in and out is good. Access is off of 459 at exit 10, Hwy 150. The way is well marked, tree branches are above the 14' mark. It is an asphalt parking lot. But I found it to be extremely easy to navigate. The sites are set up so that 1 island of utility hook-ups services 2 rigs. It's well lit at night as we found out. Your solar panels should charge well overnight! -

We are in Birmingham Al for the night. Staying at Hoover RV park which is the RV parking lot for Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. $31.72 full hook-ups, all asphalt, but areas for dogs to go. Not much "It" factor but easy to get to, very easy access and spacing. -
