  1. How are you covering the contents of your RV, then? Rob
  2. If you had a parent who served, you qualify. My response, however, was not to push you toward USAA, but to explain how our insurance was structured. You might check with your current insurance carrier to see if 1) you might be covered already and 2) if you could add that coverage to your current policy. Rob
  3. We have two Ekornes Stressless recliners where our sleeper sofa used to be. They were designed by a chiropractor and are the only chairs my back can tolerate. Rob
  4. We have a renter's policy as part of our USAA insurance package for full-timing. It's primary purpose is to cover our personal effects that are in the RV during the time it's not moving (while under way, things are covered by our auto insurance). A side benefit is that the renter's policy also covers everything in our climate controlled storage unit back at the launch site. The storage facility just requires that I provide a copy of the policy renewal each year for their records. Now... why we still have stuff in a storage unit is a discussion for another time and place.😐 Rob

    Bronco Sport

Per Car & Driver: "A 181-hp, turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder is the base engine, but a 245-hp turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder is also available. Both pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but the more powerful engine brings steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and upgraded cooling components." Rob
  6. From a law firm that does accident cases: "As long as dash cam footage is relevant to the case, recordings are almost always admissible in court. ... While most dash cams only record visuals, a few record audio, which is typically not admissible in court, as it is difficult to obtain the advance consent of those the audio is recording." Rob
  7. Kirk, I have respected your views and input for a long time, but I think there is a little miscommunication or misunderstanding going on here... folks aren't talking about a $200 - $350 GoPro. They're talking about things like the Rexing dash cams that can be had for $50 - $100. I am aware of a number of cases where dashcam evidence has made the difference in a court case or insurance settlement. As I mentioned above, I REALLY which I had been running one when someone pulled a stunt, ran into me, then lied to the cops (after switching seats with his passenger because there was a problem with his drivers license). We drive a lot on I-95, the loops around DC and Baltimore, I-20 and I-30, DFW, El Paso, San Diego, etc. We operate dashcams in both the truck and the car at all times - and a good part of the population does nowadays. For many, it's not a matter of opinion, "feeling better" or "satisfaction" - it's like buying insurance... just the smart thing to do. Perhaps it doesn't fit your lifestyle or needs, but an adversarial interaction here does not benefit the OP. Rob
  8. I had the same thing happen to me - on a two-lane state road in east central Texas. A compact car full of young people passed me (I was doing to 55 MPH speed limit) across a double yellow line with oncoming traffic, pulled in too close, and slammed on the brakes to make a right-hand turn. The right front of my truck missed the left rear of their car by inches since I couldn't pull into the oncoming lane because of traffic. Had there been a collision, my dashcam would have been my only defense had they decided to lie to the sheriff and say that I was tailgating. I had a similar incident ten years before while not towing... the other driver did lie and we were both held at fault - I didn't have a dashcam then. Rob
  9. Once again, I wish we had a "Like" function on this forum... Thanks for saying it for the rest of us, everyone. Rob
  10. X2 on this... or a rock poking through the bottom. I find that the holders also help the stinky slinky drain since most of them are slanted from the rig end to the sewer end. Rob
  11. Others have already responded to your points - which are wrong... but in addition, vaccines aren't, and never have been, a "cure." The purpose of a vaccine is to condition your immune system so that it is capable of mounting a response to an invading virus. The vaccine would not increase your chances of dying - it would increase your chances of living. Rob
  12. We don't have a Momentum, but we're in our second Grand Design fifth wheel. Our first 4-1/2 years full-time were in a Reflection 337RLS. It came off the line in 2015 a few months before auto-leveling became standard on the Reflections, but it served us very well. When we made the decision to stay on the road as long as possible, we upgraded to a Solitude 310GK-R (construction similar to a Momentum but without a garage) with solar, dual pane windows, residential fridge, slide toppers, and everything we thought we'd need as we get older (especially the auto-leveling and slide toppers!). We are extremely happy with it. We feel that the quality is acceptable - but the thing that sets GD apart for us is the customer service. On the few occasions we've had (minor) warranty issues (all on the Reflection - none with the Solitude), GD authorized a mobile tech to come to us and paid for it. PM me with an email address if you have more questions. Rob
  13. You could start by checking out these businesses: PPL Motorhomes RecPro As Shorty suggested, if you're wanting to go with a residential fridge (rather than an RV absorption fridge), check out the big box stores for counter-depth refrigerators that will fit in the space you have. Rob
  14. I wish we had a "Like" button on this forum... Thank you. Rob
  15. It's not actually the oldest road in the US (Oldest Roads). The article says, "The Yellowstone Trail was the first transcontinental automobile highway in the United States through the northern tier of states from Washington through Massachusetts." Interesting info, though. Rob
  16. We've stayed there and Connie said exactly what I would have said... so I'll just quote her. The "corral" setup is rather odd - I had to use extensions on all of the utilities (the hookups are on the other side of the fencing between the rows). Also can't speak to the boondocking area. Rob
  17. We have always been queen bed people, anyway - even when we had a house. We don't have dogs that sleep with us and neither of us likes to have to search for the other in bed. When it's cold, we're both together in the middle, anyway. The bonus is that our bedroom seems much more spacious and we have more room to walk around the bed (our Solitude fifth wheel has the bed in a slide). Rob
  18. We pulled the sleeper-sofa out of our brand new fifth wheel (to put in two Ekornes Stressless recliners). I sold it on Facebook Marketplace for $100 to a young family who was rehabing an older RV they had. They were tickled pink. If you don't get any offers after a few days, change it to free if they pick it up. Rob
  19. Are you thinking of the expanded access to military FamCamps (and other privileges) that happened a while back? If so, those policies are still in effect. Rob
  20. Hmmm... I'm a retired RN. In all of our biology and nutrition classes, we were taught that protein provides 4 calories per gram - regardless of the source. On what are you basing your comment? You're also commenting on a thread that's 4-1/2 years old without referencing to whom your comment is directed. Rob
  21. We're spending the winter on Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. The propane companies won't/can't come on post to fill privately owned or rented tanks, so several of the folks in the FamCamp here have the 100 lb. vertical tanks (kinda tall and skinny). One of the guys assured me that "it's not too bad" getting the thing in and out of the truck to go refill (at 176 lbs. full). With three bad discs in my back, Laura wouldn't let me do that, so yesterday I picked up two extra 30 pounders at Tractor Supply and had them filled. With four of them, that gives me 120 lbs. total capacity and they're much easier to get in and out of the truck. I got some of those stabilizer bases for them and they strap in very nicely (and are stable on the concrete pad when not in use). Rob
