Thanks Rob I use Firefox browser and also went back to using both the Native Windows browser in both Windows 10 and 11 and Outlook 2016 0n two of my computers and Outlook 2019 on two others. I am going to re-look at Outlook.com where I have several alias' I never used. Right now I am using a Gmail account.

Right now I am gathering my info to downgrade my newest computer from 11 to 10 again with the USB Lenovo sent me to do that. I am procrastinating because I need to see how I can transfer my Outlook and MS Office 2016 without having to buy it again. from 11 which upgraded with them but won't down back to 10. I am not that knowledgeable about the PWA and while I like the idea of going back to local a situation like I am facing with going back to 10 could have a lot of issues with a clean install. Or not.  But my plate is really fulas we are looking for a Ranch home to move to and even thinking about Oregon, Washington, or S.Dakota. Looking now at drought conditions and wildfire and its smoke in them. Looking at tax advantages too.

Like I said full plate! 🤷‍♂️😱

Wow - you don't just have a full plate, you're spinning a number of them!

Since I responded above I got the bug. I found a legit, downloadable copy of Outlook 2021 for $18... I'm really liking it. It has bells and whistles I don't need, but it will do anything I do want to do - and does it well. I especially like the ability to have multiple/assignable time zones in the calendar in a desktop client.

    Good luck with everything.

So your grandfather plan mean truly "unlimited" with no throttling?  If so, kudos, because from what I read that's either not available or just incredibly expensive.

I've read many posts, both here and other places, where people talk about their unlimited plans, using 50, or 100 gigs or more, and not ever being throttled.. or at least not to anything noticeable.  I take these reports with a grain of salt.. but, for all I know they're true.  I just don't want to change plans and find the gotchas later on, because once I change I can't go back.

Yes - our grandfathered VZW 4G MiFi unlimited plan is unthrottled. The plan was only available pre-paid and for a short window of time. I think once the word got out in RV World, VZW realized they were giving away too much bandwidth for too little money. I just did a speed test where we're staying here in the SE Cincinnati area and the download speed is currently 67.4 Mbps. We stream TV and movies on it several nights a week without issues (and have for some years).

I buy full Office Pro online at eBay and some are fakes some are good. Office pro 2016 is cheaper and is good until 2026. However I am leaning towards trying Thunderbird too. I am using Libre Office on my Surface Go2 computers and I like it a lot however no mail client there so I have been using the Windows default email program which is abysmal. So Outlook is my go to again 2016 and 2019 versions of Office Pro Plus. But it is not ideal anymore.

Can any Thunderbird users tell me how well it handles IMAP large amounts of folders and emails?

Can't tell you about Thunderbird, but EM Client does a great job with email. I had some calendar issue with it, so went back to the organic email client in Windows 11 (it's very reliable). I've recently tried the new Outlook PWA web app (runs locally/off-line when necessary and saves everything to your local device) and it's really good, too. Can even do multiple time zones in the calendar. All of this is with an outlook.com (Live Mail) IMAP account.

It looks like the same equipment, but you can get the equipment immediately (no waitlist) and use it in areas that are already "fully allocated".

You pay for this with 1. Higher monthly rate, and 2. Downgraded service.

From the company's support page:  Best Effort Service: Network resources are always de-prioritized for Starlink for RVs users compared to other Starlink services, resulting in degraded service and slower speeds in congested areas and during peak hours. Stated speeds and uninterrupted use of the service are not guaranteed. Service degradation will be most extreme in "Waitlist" areas on the Starlink Availability Map during peak hours. See Starlink Specification for expected performance here.

I read this on the Starlink web site yesterday... makes it no better than our current VZW unlimited (grandfathered) mobile hotspot in terms of service - and the hotspot is easier to set up.

  6. We will continue our 3,600 journey begun on 4/1 when we left southern New Mexico. So far, we have been through northern NM, AZ, UT, CO, WY and are now in SD. Passing through Cincinnati to see some grandkids, we will end up at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, mid-June to be near more grandkids. No plans for long-distance movement after that for now...

  7. If you look at places other than AZ and FL, you can still find accommodations. When we left our winter place in southern NM this year, they asked if we wanted to come back next year. We have reservations at a military installation in NE MD from June of this year through December of 2023, so we said, "No."

Is this a common problem today? Is it common to other brands or just Lippert? They don't give that stuff away!

Lippert has a huge part of the market now, Kirk, and it seems pretty common. Guys on another forum who are engineers and/or have experience with heavy equipment seem to think it's pretty common, too - but with heavy equipment one doesn't notice it since the hydraulics are in motion all the time.

I'm guessing that by "CAT fluid", it really means Caterpillar branded hydraulic fluid.  If that's the case, any good hydraulic fluid should suffice.  Don't buy the crap at Tractor Surprise.  Go to a real farm machinery or construction equipment dealer and buy a quart or a gallon.

That said, the motorcycle fork oils do have great anti-stiction additives.  It's pricey, but good.

Not that it matters in this case, but hydraulic fluid is generally 10w.  Fork oil can be had in many viscosities, 5, 7.5, 10, 15, etc.

  10. Our Lippert hydraulic system came with ATF in it. There's a Lippert white paper about replacing two quarts of the ATF with either fork oil or CAT fluid to reduce/stop the popping (it's a phenomenon called "stiction"). I tried the fork oil first with minimal effect. I then used the CAT fluid and it cured the problem... though the CAT fluid was hard to find during the pandemic.

  11. My wife found a very good description of extended service plans a while back (they are not warranties, but rather insurance policies with lots of fine print). They are another form of legalized gambling. The company is betting that nothing breaks that would cause them to pay out more than you paid for the policy; you're betting it will. As in all forms of legalized gambling, the house usually wins. Otherwise, these companies wouldn't be in business or make a profit.

Dave Ramsey and Clark Howard have commented on these plans many times, too. The standard seems to be that 80% of extended service plan revenue goes toward commissions and marketing. Only 20% goes toward paying for actual repairs, which means most people are getting a really bad deal. We prefer to set money aside regularly (earning interest) and pay for repairs as they come up.

This may seem like a dumb question, but did your camper already have a vent? Ours does not, so we'd need to create one. Our W/D hookups are in the middle of the wall on the backside of our garage area, so not close to a sidewall, which makes vent placement a bit trickier.

No - but if your RV has connections for a washer and dryer, there is probably a place marked to install the vent. It took our dealer about 15 minutes to do the vent part.

  13. First of all, are you sure the batteries are fully charged? Next, is the battery cut-off switch in the "On" position. After that, depending on the year of your Solitude, there's either a 60 or 80 amp circuit breaker on the back wall of the front compartment near the hydraulic pump and reservoir. Failing all else, I have used this site to find technicians several times with very good results:

Thanks, Rob.  I had a feeling it couldn't be a simple plug and play.

And you answered another question I had -- the cost of locals.  I know we pay an extra fee for locals on our home subscription,  but nowhere on the Dish Outdoors website, that I could find, do they state that locals are an extra fee.

You have to dig keep in the Dish information to find what you're looking for, but if you have an outdoor-only account (no Dish account for a stix 'n brix), what you want is called the Flex Pack. You can mix and match what you want (sports oriented vs. news vs. entertainment, etc.) and add locals. You may have to go through the "Dish For My RV" rigamarole or call Dish to get specifics.

  15. The add-on OTA receiver module for the Wally receivers requires a coax connection from your OTA antenna on the roof. The reception will only be as good as your antenna and location (distance, line-of-sight from the broadcast towers). We pay $10/month for locals on our Dish RV plan and change the locals with the phone app when we move. It's worked very well for 6-1/2 years full-timing.

  16. Only three times in 15 years? Not bad! Like Linda, we have multiple cards so we're not up the creek if one gets compromised. Our most recent experience was a couple of months ago when several walk-in/manual entry purchases were made at Walmart... in Livingston. We haven't been there in at least three or four years and I can't imagine how that happened.🤔
