  1. We like Happy Camper. It works well and has no discernable odor. Jay
  2. Have you looked into a UPS store? Often those type of private mail stores will provide a physical street address for various purposes, including package and certified mail receipt, etc. Re the jury issue. I can't speak to AZ, but as an over the road driver for decades, I routinely wouldn't get my mail until long after the intended date. If my wife was home she would call, but after that, I just ignored it. If I got called on the carpet, I could show where I was at the time and I'm sure the judge would understand that I NEVER GOT MY MAIL. You can't report if you didn't get it. Many many summons recipients never respond. They cannot as a practical matter chase everyone. Jay
  3. You don't HAVE to change out your tires at 5-6 years, but at that point you're suffering the effects of uv and sun damage on tires, which weakens them to the point that you are significantly more at risk for a blowout. Considering the safety risks and potential extensive damage to the RV, new tires seem like very inexpensive insurance. YMMV... Jay P.S. Also, I like to guess at how many sets of tires I might need over the time I own the vehicle. That helps me decide when is best to replace them.
  4. Have you checked the DOT date codes? Regardless of where they were purchased and who put them on, they could easily be much older than the RV they're installed on. If you're looking for long distance reliability, I would make certain every tire is less than five years old, by the accrual DOT date code. Heat + age + sun = increased risk of blowouts. Not a fun day. Jay
  5. ...which is why I said Rocky Mountains/Colorado.... In other words, east of the Rocky Mountains AND Colorado. Jay
  6. I believe they were supposed to standardize by about 2004, but we can see how that's been going. Jay
  7. Fortunately, you only need two transponders east of the Rockies/Colorado. EZPass covers all the eastern states, plus you'll need the TX/OK/KS pass. I have the KS pass and an OH EZPass. I've never used a toll road in CO and I no longer go to CA. In my experience, IL is the most difficult of the systems to deal with if you're not using a transponder. Jay
  8. And therein lies the issue with waiting on the governing authority for toll billing. Penalties are common and frequent and it's NEVER their fault or problem. So I prefer to be proactive and take care of it up front. Jay
  9. My experience is also years ago, perhaps not long after they eliminated the manned booths. At that time, their response was to look it up and pay it, but surely they've refined their system since that. I've had EZPass for many years, so I can't speak to their current system. I would certainly think that they would eventually send some kind of bill, but my reading at that time was then there would be penalties. Jay
  10. There are NO manned toll booths around Chicago. You can do toll by plate, but that actually doesn't work very well, unless they've improved it. Before I had EZPass, you were expected to look up each toll gate, calculate how much you owed and submit it. There was no way to look it up by plate. The very best way is to get an EZPass account with transponder. Then, you can just fly through with any truck legal lane. EZPass works in most eastern states, so it's a valuable asset. Jay
  11. My new go to for negative scanning is dslr scanning. For highest quality and definition down to the grain, fastest workflow speed, the ability to shoot in RAW to preserve every minute detail and the maximum bang for minimal buck, nothing beats it. 12. You know, those pass throughs have been known to fail. I would have random missing on my number six cylinder and it never got fixed. Only playing around, pretending to diagnose and more bills. A shop north of Atlanta noticed that the retaining clip was broken on the pass through. Ordered the part, replaced the part, problem solved. How could it possibly take that many so called "professionals" to find that???? I'm sure I don't know, but I paid plenty of "incompetence tax" on that one. Jay
  13. I've had rebuilt stuff from Weller which has held up well. I think both my steering box and my air compressor are from them. Better price, zero issues, nice people. Jay
  14. To me, six vs. twelve point has more to do with fastener size and age. At 3/8" or above (or metric eq.) on older and rustier stuff, six point is always my go to. Actually, I only use twelve point when it's closer to hand and it's too much bother to go chase a six point down. Six points aren't as critical about exact fit, in general. All my newer sockets are Gearwrench. Jay
  15. As you convert it to an RV, you'll be adding a significant amount of weight. That will help improve both the ride and traction. Putting some of your heavier items as far back as possible will help transfer some of that weight toward the rear and help balance out your axle weights. Jay
  16. Any truck repair and parts place will have that. Just explain what you want to do and have them supply you with the correct valve. I don't remember exactly, because it's been over twenty years and my mechanic did it for me. Jay
  17. If you still have gladhands, they need to be blocked off so they don't leak when you push in both air buttons. If your gladhands are removed and capped, it's already done for you. Push in both buttons and watch/listen for air leaks. Alternatively, you can replace the proportioning valve with a regular valve and avoid all that. Jay
  18. I'm guessing your missed calls and messages have more to do with your particular carrier than your phone. If you don't have a nearby tower for your carrier, you may have weak spots with low signal. Jay
  19. Why not just get a new Note 9? Is there functionality that's missing in your current phone? I'm on my second Note 9 and am very happy with it. I purchase both on eBay from a seller I trust. I don't consider 5g to be a currently viable or useful option. Maybe sometime in the future. Jay
  20. I just wanna be like Ken.... Dang, I thought I was already old.. Jay
  21. Ditto that!! After sliding on glare ice through the Eisenhower Tunnel, I've no desire to ever return - any time of year! Travel west of Denver at your own risk - and it is risky... Jay
  22. You need to use the "Other Media" button and insert the link there. Jay

    b&w hitch

Air ride hitches aren't mandatory, but they give a better ride to the fiver and help protect it. Plus, it's a more comfortable ride for the people passengers. Having at least an articulating hitch is a huge improvement over fixed. Jay
  24. No, we've sold our Newmar fifth wheel and no longer need it. It's been a great hitch for us. Jay
