  1. Thanks everyone for taking time to post answers!
  2. Alaska through Canada to Idaho. As most members here are well aware, asking a low level DMV clerk who answers the phone is hit-or-miss for obtaining legitimate info on anything related to converted Class 8 trucks. Figured I'd ask here about personal experiences.
  3. Yes, we are moving soon. Would be hauling my own household goods. I would not have any concerns using a typical enclosed bumper pull trailer for this. My question is about the use of a commercial semi-truck trailer. I can get a great deal on a single axle Dry Van. Have you done this? Any issues with registering or insuring the trailer? Any issues with Police?
  4. Hi, I'd like to use my truck (titled and registered as a motorhome) to move my own personal belongings. I can get a good deal on a Dry Van (commercial type trailer) that will hold what I want to move. Have any of you hauled a commercial type trailer (for private non-commercial use) with your RV? Any particular legal issues involved?
  5. Here is a picture of the underside of the bed. It's being mounted onto a Freightliner FLD112. The angle iron rails are for a 34.5" frame width. The freightliner frame is 33.5 If I simply cut the 2" angle off and weld 3" back on at the correct spacing, I can bolt it directly to the frame utilizing mostly existing holes. However, I don't know if HDT beds are typically bolted solid like that. If it's OK to bolt solid, how many places along the frame should there be bolts? Thanks to everyone who responded so far, I was hoping to get some pics of bed attachments before posting these specifics because there might be a totally different and better method of installing a bed. house- it looks like your bed is bolted solid. Are there springs or other attachment methods at the front? GlenWest- it sounds like yours is bolts solid also. 8" angle goes down the web quite a ways. I get that's what you had laying around, would you have been comfortable using smaller material; like 3"? How many places along the frame do you have bolts?
  6. I'm trying to decide how to attach a flatbed and would appreciate seeing some examples. Would you please post pictures of how your bed is attached to the trucks frame rails? Thanks!
  7. Can someone provide info on a 1999 Freightliner FLD 48" sleeper? A couple options for remodeling our sleeper would involve removing the boxed in bases along the drivers and passenger sides that supported the bunk. It appears they might contribute to the overall strength and integrity of the sleeper itself, but I don't know if that is actually the case. Can any of you verify whether the bases can be removed without compromising the strength of the sleeper? In this sleeper there is also a piece of aluminum bolted to the floor side to side behind the seats, just behind where the curtain would hang. It doesn't look like a factory install and may be something that was added in by previous owners. Can you verify whether or not the factory installed a brace across the sleeper floor on the inside?
