  1. Depending on the year you are searching for I would recommend that you add pre 2006 Upper level Monaco to your list. We own a 2000 Dynasty and it's wonderful. We bought ours at Pedata. This was 3 years ago and at that time we had a great experience. Our experience at La Mesa and Lazy Days was less than stellar. We were very specific about what we were looking for and at both places. They drove us around the lot showing us everything but what we asked for. At Lazy Days we literally had to get out of the gulf cart and walk back to our car because the salesman kept saying " well I have another one let's go look".
  2. 10 years in to full-time. We volunteer about twice every 18 months for the USFWS at National Wildlife Refuge's We love what we do. We have enough experience under our belt that we get to do some very interesting things. We live being in an area for 3 months at a time to explore and really get a sense of the local community.
  3. We are in agreement with Kirk. 9+ years of volunteering has been wonderful. While we don't have to have the site provided we actually have found that: We love being active, involved in very interesting activities, and having a sense of giving back to something we believe in. Being parked for a few months gives us a great sense of a community Our days off ( usually 4) allows us plenty of time for household chores and still do long day trips
  4. We are members of Alliant and,are happy. Never any issues. Its really not a new subject. Just do business with companies who want our business Yes many banks won't finance a loan for a fulltimer but unfortunately it started before the Patriot Act. Banks are reluctant to loan money on a moving object that they might not be able to find if they need to
  5. The biggest issue is taxes. Anytime you are working for a private business ( in this case a campground) you are at risk of generating taxable income. While much has been debated about the IRS and bartering work for a campsite there is always that risk. No matter what a private business cqlls it (and some do call it volunteering)you are working for that site. When you are volunteering for a state, federal or non profit you are not generating income. Federal agencies are all backing off of any paid stypends and the new volunteer policy for the USFWS is very specific about not paying them.
  6. Thanks Jim for your rep!y. You managed to put it succinctly.
  7. Just checked the FL DMV web site. Seems that FL has been compliant with the RealID act for several years. I would think that someone would have made comment before now if they didn't have their mail forwarder addy on their license
  8. RealID compliance by states for DL was to have been done in 2014. Some states got an extension. SD was way ahead and when we renewed in 2013 our license was compliant with the act and has our mail forwarder addy on it. I can not believe any LEO is going to accept that license that way. How would they use that in court on a ticket. I think something isn't quite right about this. I am sure that if this was the case we would have heard about it on here by now.
  9. I do due diligence on the income tax in AZ. Hopefully someone who been there Rone that will chime in As for TX. Make sure you aren't affected by the new health insurance issues if you are not eligible for Medicare. Theres an entire thread here on tnbe up coming changes
  10. We had a rear kitchen on our 33ft Holiday Rambler. That was the best lay out. In 7 years Nothing was ever broken. We particularly liked the fact that with the opposing slides in we could get to everything in the living area. The refer was in the drivers side slide. Only thing I could not open was the oven door, one cabinet door and the TV was blocked by the driver side slide. If we ever went back to a 5th wheel I would want the same floor plan.

We are thinking about the CH 36 rally..but family illness may keep us from going. Otherwise we should hook up. Fellow Excapees are always fun to meet.

  13. Hey There, Just wanted to explain that I want everyone to post their experience. What concerned me was

    1. Just because Mikem16 posted a different experience than Kirk doesn't make his experience invalid.

2.Just because it was his first post doesn't give other the right to question his post or the reason he posted.

We may have our 5th wheel and tow vehicle for sale. We have been looking for a MH (health & convenience reasons). 19. Okay Gang..the "07" contingent is about to start arriving..we are 26 miles away.!!!
  20. We will arrive in time to meet Sandie & Jim. It is our plan to be there on or about the 1st. Our first year we did gather near the dump station..1st road to the right over 2 washs and on the right. However we found it a little dusty. I really won't know for sure where we will gather until we get there. But you could hold that place down until we arrive..Just go out and put a rock wall up around the whole spot :) I am sure that Sandy & Jim Allgire will be there before we are. See all of you soon. By the way I am trying to nail down some grills that will hold a soup pot size pan for the chili. Any in your crowd that you know of??
  21. So Sandy I should take you off the list for sure???? Hope all goes well.
  22. IYO...just come to Q and join the party....Signing up helps me plan but the chili pot will certainly stretch to feed you!!!
  23. You are correct...Hopefully this will allow us to locate an area big enough to park all of these rigs!!! I will post when we arrive. Its always important to pre-party prior to the party!!!

  24. Thanks for the extra names, you have been a greaet help and you may just earn the title of "cat herder" yet......Just a thought. Hope everyone realize's that this is really just a relaxed, spend time visiting, what ever happens happens gathering and not a full fledged rally with a ton of activities....and aren't expecting anything fancy other than what we have posted on the thread.

  25. Great, Thank you in advance.
