  1. There are also single groups in RV clubs. You are lucky to be able to retire at such a young age. You must get some help with your medical coverage? I had to wait until I was 67 years old before I retired because of medical insurance. Thanks for Medicare! You may be retired for 35 or more years and I hope you have planned wisely? The effects of inflation can be great over a 35 year period and your buying power could be greatly reduced? Hope your retirement has a COLA adjustment like SS? The fact that I helped my parents with their retirement before they died helped me and I did notice that as they aged they didn't spend as much money as when they first retired. Good Luck
  2. If I didn't have a place to park my 5th wheel I would think hard about even having one. I have a small ranch in SE Texas where I had a gravel driveway installed and I ran the 50 AMP service for the fiver. Total cost was low but if I had to pay a monthly fee just to park it I would consider it wasted money.
  3. I depends on what type of plan you have. My internet doesn't slow they just charge me more money if I exceed the 50G.
  4. I have used the hotspot with both ATT and Verizon for a number of years. I used whichever one had the better reception. But as we all know the unlimited is not really unlimited! Now I use a device from ATT at $70 per month for 50G and they don't slow you down after the 50G. They just charge you more per additional 10G. Only once did I go over with a granddaughter staying with us and she used lots. We take the ATT device with us when we go RVing. We are pleased with the speed and we also use it at home with excellent results and we were able to get rid of our Hughes Net which was $65 per month and we had it for many years. The ATT device is a lot faster then Hughes NET. Good Luck
  5. We are with three TVs, DirecTV aka ATT. We have a dish on the roof of our fiver now and love it. We own two RV lots in the UP of MI were we spend five months each summer and unless you get your own internet you can't stream movies or shows using the parks internet. It can't handle it.
  6. I would think that if you provide an address in AZ then you will be expected to pay state income tax there. I have heard that some states will want to tax you for the time that you spend in their state if it is for an extended period of time?
  7. Please keep in mind that Tim Horton's is now owned by the owners of Burger King, a US company.
  8. I have a front living 42 feet fiver with two couches and two so called theater recliners the couches fold out to queen size beds and we like them but the recliners are to short for me. I am only 6 feet tall and about 200 lbs. I have to fold my legs to fit. We would think that a fiver that lists for $116,000 would have done a better job with the recliners? Good Luck
  9. Accumack: Those are the ones that I was ready to buy until a number of the reviews mentioned valve stem issues. I need then for four tires on my fifth wheel trailer. My F350 has a TPMS. I run 110 psi in the trailer tires. Thank You
  10. I am also following this topic, thank you. I was almost ready to buy a TPMS until I looked at reviews on the system I was interested in and read about the sensors weakening the valve stems and even some breaking the valve stems! I still want one and hope to learn from those who post here.

    The Ranch

There are many RV parks that will not honor specific spot reservations. Most of the ones that I use will give you a pull thru if you reserve one but not the one you may have wanted.
  12. The standard warranty in the RV business is one year. There are some companies that do 2 years and I recently read an ad for three years. I don't remember which one but even Forest River who used to let you buy a second year warranty for most towables for from $150 to $250 stopped that last year.

    The Ranch

I never used Escapees RV parks prior to reservations because I like to know where I am going to stay well in advance. I always thought that it was a bit primitive to not accept reservations. Taking and tracking reservation is part of the RV park business. I need to know where we will stay before we leave because we don't do boondocking, have a large fiver and don't want to drive much more the 300 miles per day.
  14. We use electric heater(s) to take the chill out but we also keep going to warmer climates and don't stay in cool/cold places.
  15. That is exactly what I tell my better half. Even if we did go back, it would be to a smaller place or assisted living or even a pine box.
  16. I couldn't agree more Barbaraok! If you plan on going back and live there some day, it can be ok to be a "slum lord".
  17. This past summer I went from Hughes Net, after 17 years with them, to ATT Internet. I got a wifi box for $80 and 50 G for $80 per month. ATT says that it is unlimited but after the 50 G they slow in down unless you pay more. It is fast and we like it much better then Hughes NET.
  18. It would seem that Schwab doesn't want your account and I wouldn't want to leave my money with them. Other firms will be glad to take care of you. In addition to the ones listed above T. Rowe Price would be a good choice. Good Luck
  19. Our residential refrigerator, a big LG, came with what look like upscale rubber bands to hold the doors closed.
  20. I can't do it with over $7,300 per month! to many needy grandchildren!
  21. I read that link and it looks like yes the Escapees plan is about the same as the others. If you want to support Escapees you could switch.
  22. I have both CoachNet and Good Sam roadside assistance. I have used Good Sam once in IN for a flat tire while I was at an RV park. I called them because their phone number came first in my cell phone. This was on a Sunday morning last June and Good Sam told me that because it was Sunday all of their preferred road assistance companies were not open. I was stunned thinking that they would tell me to wait until Monday. I asked if the road side assistance was not a 24/7 service? They said yes it was and they did send someone in a mini van and he was a pleasant young man who was from England. He was an educated person who had immigration issues so he was working for himself. He did the job although his compressor would only put 60 lbs in the tire with the mini van running and revved. My question regarding the Escapees roadside assistance is how will they be better? CoachNet and Good Sam have been in business for some time and I would think that they know what they are doing? Also there are only so many roadside/tow companies around and I have been told that Good Sam and CoachNet use mostly the same companies? Which companies will Escapees use. I hope they are not trying to reinvent the wheel?
  23. I also have both Good Sam and CoachNet road side assistance. I have had both for 7 years. It is my understanding that both us e the same tow companies? The only on that I have used is Good Sam and the service was good.
  24. As Kirk stated above, I use them if there are no other nice places. Some are not that much more then others and they are supposed to live up to standards set by corporate KOA. I stayed in one in southern MI earlier this month, about $40 for a pull thru with full hookups, TV and 50 AMP. They also had pick your own blueberries. We felt that it was a very nice place.
  25. Now you know why so many of us go to Mexico!!!
