  1. How are we supposed to stay the course?!? That works if you're working for a living. But we've "stayed the course" for years, lost and gained, and were fine. We're retired now and live off our investments. Or used to. Lost 16K just last quarter. If we stayed the course, our piddly little pension would be gone in a VERY short time. So- what are we supposed to do?!? Only one answer that I can see. Vote. For the right people.
  2. All our future travel plans have changed. For the worse. It will be local camping only, and thank God we have a senior pass, or it would probably be camping in the driveway. We're literally not very "happy campers" nowadays.
  3. Good luck to you! It does my heart good to hear when somebody is able to get rid of DISH.
  4. Yeah, still waiting here, too. But it's not political! ðŸĪŠ
  5. The Witchita Hills area in Oklahoma. Nothing extraordinary, it was just a beautiful, quiet place that took me back a hundred years. Nobody around, buffalo and longhorns wandering all over the place, and some nice little fishing lakes. Not real unique, but an adventure. But unique wise- nothing in the world was more impressive to me than coming around the corner and seeing Lake Powell for the first time. And even more impressive from a plane. (sorry- did I hijack this thread?! )
  6. Northern Arkansas/Southern Missouri state line. 7:49am, 15 degrees out. No snow on the ground last night; looks like at least a couple inches now. And snowing like a mutha!
  7. Welcome to Laughlin. The wind pretty much never stops here. Especially this time of year. It can be un-Godly cold and windy in the winter, and just as miserable hot and windy in the summer.
  8. Is there any boondocking in the vicinity there? Like on the outskirts where it might be safe? Any state parks in the vicinity? Just wondering cause I've always thought about going down there in the winter.
  9. Try Bank of the West. They do a lot of RV financing.
  10. Our family had some property on the Walker River when the first El Nino hit back in the 90s. All the snow melted at one time and totally flooded everything in the vicinity of the eastern Sierras. Reno was just about under water. Hwy. 395 was closed through Walker Canyon for 2 years. Our beautiful piece of property was wiped out; the river is now a ditch that looks like the LA river. As soon as the flooding started, some guy hired a helicopter to video tape the whole thing. It's pretty awesome. The only thing is, it's on VHS. Definitely hope for no El Nino. a
  11. Good Lord man- I just want to be able to empty my tanks as needed; this isn't some kind of spiritual journey. I might just stay longer than a week or two. But thanks for the input.
  12. That's a great idea. We're certainly not set on any particular place. We will definitely check that out. Another related question- I know you guys have been there a lot- is there someplace to unhook my fiver and then look around for a place to camp, or do we just drive around hooked up til we find a spot? Thanks everybody for all the replies!
  13. Can anybody tell me which long-term BLM boondocking areas have pump-out and fresh water services? I'm good for a week, but don't really want to break camp; we'd like to stay 2 weeks. Thanks for any information!
  14. Totally agree. I do have a real audio system at home, but that's for listening to my vinyl. I also have regular FM of course in my vehicles and home, but it's really horrible. Sounds like AM from the 70's; they even censor the music. Satellite radio is compressed, but I can live with that, if nothing else except for no commercials. I pay around $5.00 a month per subscription. Even compressed, it sounds pretty good. (If you want to hear some REALLY good music- check out the Outlaw Country station. Give it a few times listening, and you'll be pleasantly surprised...)
  15. Thanks for the info Kirk. That's pretty much it for me and the Escapees RV club; I will not be renewing. I have been vaccinated. Without getting political, I will not get herded into this "You gotta be/You better be" mentality. This is still America. Barely. And yes, I understand this is a choice, and it's the one I'm choosing.
  16. I'm not quite sure what you're asking or what you're looking for. But you can buy a SIRIUS/XM boom box off of Ebay for a fairly inexpensive price. We pay just over $5.00 a month for each device- 1 each in our 2 vehicles and 1 for a home unit. There is something for everybody on SIRIUS and most of their receivers have the capability of retro-play. If you know what I mean. Hope this helps a little...
  17. We will definitely try to look you up, and really appreciate the offer. Thanks so much for the info! Can't wait for the Escapade. And thank you, too, Kirk!
  18. We are heading to the Escapade in July and plan on heading north afterwords towards the Grand Tetons/Yellowstone with no reservations. We're looking for any info as to where we may be able to boondock for a few days before heading east. Any info will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
  19. I just bought a new set of high-tech chains for my truck, but like most people, I'm never going to be in a situation where I might need chains for a trailer.
  20. First Escapade ever. Haven't been back to Rock Springs since the 70s when there were potholes all over town spewing smoke.
