  1. Rick has a point. The novelty of smart cars has definitely worn off up here and prices are way cheaper. Could be worth finding out what paperwork is involved in importing. American dealers buy used cars from our dealer auctions all the time when the exchange rate is favourable. Nigel

Tunnel Mountain Campground just outside of Banff is spectacular and they have hundreds of sites that will accommodate you. I don’t care for the town of Banff it caters to rich tourists. I much prefer Jasper it feels like real people live there. Take your time coming back there are many must see places along the way. Nigel
  3. Robert You may be worrying about nothing. I’ve never compared my levels by looking in the tanks. But when I worked my truck commercially my left tank always took more fuel than the right when filling up maybe as much as 20%. Nigel

Phil You will be fine. I have a 100 watt mounted flat on my deck and it will keep my batteries full every day except for a week or two either side of Christmas. We are about the same Latitude as Detroit and at that time of year the days are quite short and the sun is pretty low in the sky. Nigel
  5. I agree with you Rick. I thought the Jackalopee was good value when I bought mine nine years ago. I certainly don’t have the skills to build anything as good for less money. Two hundred thousand kilometres later still works flawlessly. Nigel
  6. There are diagrams for the DIY converter in the resource guide although a little hard to find. http://www.hhrvresource.com/node/203.html Nigel
  7. If your suspension leaks down in that short time the truck will move an inch of two as the suspension airs back up. If that is what you are feeling you must have a pretty good air leak that needs to be addressed. Nigel

    Brake light troubles

Bottom line is the sellers description is wrong. They are not brake lights.

    Air Ride Hitch

Just throwing an idea out here. Has anyone thought about taking the fifth wheel pin box and rotating it 180 degrees. That would get you a couple of feet. I know RVH Lifestyle has done a straight down pin box. I’m certainly not an engineer but could it work? Nigel
  10. Are you having starting or running problems? If the filter in the Davao is clean you will only see a little at the bottom. As the filter gets dirty the fuel will rise and when it gets near the top it is time to change. Nigel
  11. Works fine if you click on your link
  12. Glenn Trim off everything to the left of the http and the right of jpg
  13. The edge of my deck is 44 inches and I use twelve foot ramps. I sometimes use 2 pieces of 2x8 about 20 inches long on the deck about a foot from the edge for the wheels to climb over. That will make a huge improvement in the break over. Nigel

  15. Dealer is only about 15 minutes from my house and they had them in stock. I will gladly pay a premium for parts if they are in stock as the dealer has carrying costs, always ask for a discount if they have to order in. It’s been a couple of years but I think they might have been about $60 Canadian but definitely less than $100. Nigel

    Dream Truck

But you won’t be fine if Susan has to drive and you have to sit there.
  17. There will be two speed sensors on top of the transmission (an input and an intermediate) and the third is on the tail stock measuring the output speed. I believe them to be all the same part number and reasonably priced. The one Carl and Dave fought with was the output sensor which is the easiest one to access but not necessarily the easiest to change.

    Dream Truck

For a commercial guy it is all about weight savings. It would give you a little extra payload.
  20. Link doesn’t work for me either. Nigel

    Rear Leveling Valve

I suggest doing a google search for air brake inspection. If your suspension is staying up for a couple of days you are doing well. There is a reason there is an acceptable air loss rate, every air brake system leaks. Nigel
  22. When I had mine built the fabricator talked me into using Tremclad (similar to Rustoleum) on the deck. His reasoning was it made it simpler if I wanted add any welded brackets or move chocks etc. Also a gallon of paint is cheap if you want to refresh the deck every couple of years. So far it has been a good move. Nigel
  23. One more point. If you have a conventional water heater there is at least 6 gallons of fresh water there. Just don’t forget to turn of the heater.
  24. Carl The water thing can happen anytime of the year if the campground has a pump failure or water main break. Find some where to store a 5 gallon water jug so you can go somewhere and get water. What is the shelf life of a case of bottled water? I think you are worrying too much on the generator side. You have an inverter in the truck which will probably give you 15 amps and keep the trailer batteries topped up. If you have a diesel bunk heater you can always hunker down in the truck for a few days and use the truck air to blow out the water lines in the trailer so they don’t freeze. I think you already have it covered other than something to carry water in and I bet if you look around you can find something in a pinch. Just my two cents. Nigel
