  1. Don't have the truck here so can't say about the brand. They came new on the truck from Ford.
  2. I got about 25,000 miles on tires They are original 2011 tires on a Ford F350 with truck camper. The center tread has lots more wear than the 2 neighboring treads. (top arrow) Also the outer edge has more wear than the inner tire. (side arrow) How long should front tires last? Do you think I can get another 5,000 miles on them? Any suggestions to more even wear? I'm using 65 pounds all round for tire psi.
  3. I had seen they sell special RV TP that decomposes faster. I've always used regular TP. I have a cassette toilet and never had an issue with flushing it. What about you?
  4. Yes, that is what happened today. I got it open once it warmed up. Sometimes it does not warm up, so will try the other suggestions.
  5. I charge my battery periodically in winter and non use periods but it is left in the camper. I drain the water tanks and unhook the shower hose and the water pump hoses. I run the water pump a little to drain out what can be drained. I put antifreeze down the drains and in the cassette toilet water tank. That is about it. Been doing it like that for 15 years and no problems even in sub zero weather. I don't put anti freeze in the water tank or water pump. They got an attachment for blowing out water lines with compressed air. I never use city water, only onboard water tank.
  6. My gate valve is frozen shut from the cold temps. I had put some valve grease in it last year hoping it would keep it operating in winter. Any tips on how to keep them operating in the winter. I just use my camper a few times in winter so it stays unheated for the most part until use. I have a cap on the valve that has a little hose connector. Maybe I should keep that off until I use the valve. Thanks
  7. https://vimeo.com/346859348 A video on pod 'communal' life in CA. Pod living may be the future for the slightly more well to do as our population skyrockets and land is at a premium. I had heard on the radio some communities are outlawing single family housing and only zoning for multi family buildings. Pods in CA are renting for the prices of apartments in other cities. In the big cities, tents and communal showers may be what the average Joe or Jane lives in someday. ...just never know how things will turn out...huh? 8. Problem is not being rich and being able to afford $110 a day NOW to park. Even their dirt parking lot for boondocking is $75 a day...just to park. Pretty soon it will be $150 a day to park with hook ups and $100 a day for the dirt lot. ...you don't think that is disgusting??
  9. OP...2 or 4 oz nitrogen powered pepper spray. Get cone spray.
  10. I met lots of RV'ers at a show I went to in Pitts. First RV show I've been at. Everyone friendly. Same with RV'ers on the road. But I boondock and seldom go to campsites. RV'ers seem pretty nice from my limited experience over the last 2 decades. But I don't hang with them, busy working. Just short chats. Was working in NYC and had to camp in Jersey City. They had a mini Airstream convection. Talked with tons of Airstreamers. Everyone friendly. Some seem to look down on regular campers, but in a joking way, not mean or prejudicial. BTW, I'd say a full timers is someone that lives in their RV year round that has no house or apartment. But it does not matter how tight the definition is.
  11. I use my camper for work more or less on short work trips. Can't afford pleasure trips much in time or $$. I used to do more pleasure trips a decade ago. I don't want to be a full timer, but I would like to do more pleasure trips. If I had nothing to do I could go fuill time and enjoy it with a bigger rig. But have to work.
  12. Looks like their International Rally was at their highs in the 70's and 80's. (3000's to 4000's) Then all downhill from there for last 20 years. (1000's and below.) https://wbcci.org/past-rally-locations-and-attendance/wbcci-publications/past-wbcci-international-rallies-and-attendance
  13. Here is the water rundown with some filter tests as well. Test results are shown in photos. https://danielteolijr.wordpress.com/2016/01/18/6035/ While boondocking at Liberty RV in Jersey I saw a lot of rigs using filters at the faucet hose outside. I wonder how good they are. I don't have any interest in them. I bring bottled water to drink and use tap water for non drinking.
  14. Just a report back...I was able to get a dry camp spot for less in Jersey City. Worked out fine for my work and just fit my budget.
  15. I was looking at a campsite near the NJ / NYC Ferry. They want $90 a day. I don't need hookups, just a parking spot. Disgusting.
