  1. I donate to few charitable causes every year, and the Institute for Justice is one of them. IMO, they are doing great work for all of us. I primarily help support them, because of their work on Civil Asset Forfeiture. But they fight for many other worthy causes as well. Here's a link they sent me, to their latest video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVEoC-gkbOU
  2. An occasional snide comment is unlikely to be a significant factor in the declining rate of new folks visiting these forums. These forums are widely recognized as the best place to go, for solid knowledge and advice about RVing. This especially applies to our HDT forum, which is by far, our most popular. And it has been for many years. I joined Escapees primarily for the forums. I was hungry for RVer knowledge. IMO, there are three primary causes for our slow decline. The first is that there is a lot more competition for RVer eye balls. The second is this website looks like it was created more than a decade ago. And functions like posting a photo, or printing a thread, with a lot of useful facts, are user hostile. The ads are virtually useless (and I suspect generate a trivial amount of revenue). The third, and perhaps the most important, is that the Escapees company doesn't seem to care about these forums. Who is responsible for marketing and improving them? If no one has that as a prime responsibility, then there shouldn't be any surprise about their decline.
  3. How about googling: Shop 2000 volvo semi fuel supply side splitter
  4. I Not sure about the "suction side", but this google search returned multiple hits that look promising. They all seem to be the same part: 2000 volvo semi fuel splitter
  5. Must feel great to have found a good solution and be done with it.
  6. Here's an example of a TTN Platinum auction, that ended yesterday. The winning bid was $1725. If you click on: [9 Bids] you'll see the bidding history. https://www.ebay.com/itm/144999549597?_trksid=p2471758.m4703
  7. Since no potential buyer has been willing to give a price signal yet, and the sellers presumably want to sell it before the peak buying season ends, I have a suggestion. Talk to a TTN membership sales expert about it and consider having them sell it for you. After that conversation, you'll have a better idea about what it is actually worth. https://www.campgroundmembershipoutlet.com/ P.S. I have no relationship with the folks in the above link.
  8. Platinum memberships are generally nation-wide. I've never heard of an exception. Plus the original poster said "68 TT Parks". So no Zones.
  9. Does 90 days mean 3 months of daily, consecutive use, or an average duty cycle of 25%? If the latter, I suspect most fulltimers, with another vehicle for local use, would be fine with that. Out of curiosity, would you mind telling us what company issued your policy?
  10. Sounds like you are in the home stretch - Congrats! I leaned about automotive squatting a few years ago too. Albeit, with a less ambitious cargo. Mine was just wood flooring for a large den. And my transport was a an old Toyoto Camry. I too, experienced the sound of rubbing tires and learned to watch the road carefully for bumps. My squats were not permanent, and hope yours will not be either.
  11. Interesting. That link works fine for me. I don't know why it is not working for others. But it's the same picture as the last one Kirk used to provide the 4 pictures above. They all came from Kevin H's post here: https://www.rvnetwork.com/topic/146822-test/
  12. Anawilliam850, Are you using ChatGPT, or some other tool that uses a LLM ( large language model) to compose your posts?
  13. Dave, I googled: can't open windows files whose Icons have a brown box overlay From those results, it appears that those icons are just pointers the actual files that are/were on Dropbox. Assuming they are Dropbox files, is the client app for Dropbox running on your PC? I've never used Dropbox so can't be of much help on this.
  14. "I see the same thing happening in my home state of New York since 2020, with more than 450K residents moving out as fast as they can rent a U-Haul. Like the West coast, taxes and the social ideals of the state are making thousands find areas in the country more aligned to their belief system and how they were taught. " I live in Connecticut. Residents are moving out of Connecticut too. And I agree with your assertion about taxes. The other prime motivator is lower housing costs. "social ideals" Nonsense for NY and CA. Some yes, the vast majority no. ------------------------------------------ I read the proposed law from the newly elected SD legislator.s My impression was the purpose of the new law was to get publicity. It didn't become a law and there is no chance that a derivative of it will either. A similar attack on full-timers was attempted by another politician several years ago. It also got publicity and never became law. The simple truth is that almost all full-time RVers, that have selected SD as their domicile, do not vote on local issues, unless the proposed law directly affects them financially.
  15. RV, Your septic system is much different than mine. I made a classic error in assuming that most folk's septic systems are like mine. Thanks. My back yard slopes away from my house (my guess is about a 10% grade). It has a 1000 gallon concrete septic tank that is buried with an access port covered by grass. It directly connects to my leach field pipes that are about 3 feet under the surface in sandy soil. I've have my tank pumped out and inspected every 5 years (which is probably more often than needed). And I'm fortunate to not need an oxidation pond or pump. I'm confident that dumping an 80 gal black tank into the clean-out access point at my house would not be a problem. However, unlike Randy, I haven't actually tried it. May the safe dumping force be with you.
  16. Rod, I suspect your experience was unusual. Still, a good head's up. And maybe some other folks can comment on their experience dumping into a private residential septic system. If I ever need to do this using a standard RV dump hose, I'll probably try a half gray-tank dump for the first test. ----------------------------------- The standard dump pipe ID for RVs is 3". The standard ID for a house to a septic tank pipe is 4". How does a 3" pipe overwhelm a 4" pipe? With a blockage in the 4" pipe or something it is feeding into. I purchased my house about 25 years ago and have had two blockages in my septic system. The first was due to tree roots the grew into a water pipe junction box. The second was that the pipes in my leach field were filled with sand. I had to have the leach field replaced.
  17. You may want to, but you probably don't need to. Assuming your daughter has a typical septic system, you don't need a macerator. You may want one if the connection to her septic tank is up hill, or a long distance. Macerators chop things up so that the don't clog a relatively small hose. Your daughters toilets don't chop her waste up. And the pipe from your daughter's house to her tank is likely much larger in diameter than a standard RV slinky hose.
  18. OK, so not-attached won't work. Next try. Assuming you can get access to the Building Code, what are the likely shed modifications required to meet Code? If you can get those done, before the new Building Attachment inspection, I suspect you'll have a good political chance of getting a refund. A nice short letter to the City Manager copying the head of the Building Department. Pointing out that paying for two full inspections (that were largely redundant) seems excessive. Even if you can't add the enhancements before the Attachment inspection, you may have a good shot. Good luck!
  19. Henry, Sympathy. Lot's of sympathy. Question: Is the shed relying on the house for stability? If not, can you separate it by a few millimeters, without too much work?
  20. I've been accused of being too rational many times, by many people. But even I, can recognize a plea for understanding. What if the turbo on my 2000 Volvo disintegrates and I'm faced with a complete engine rebuild or replacement? That's not in my plans, and it could be a major disruption in my life. But I vaguely remember a statement from a reliable source something like "most of the things we worry about, never happen". If there's a major problem, you'll find a way to adapt. It may be hard, but you'll find a way to cope with it. Best wishes.
  21. I also bought a used Whisper, and ditched the headphones immediately. I used some padded headphones, with closed backs, that I already had (Sony MDR-7506). The Whisper helped me discover that my air leak was coming from the fan clutch. But not until I stopped the engine. I think it depends on where the leak and background noises are coming from. If there is significant noise being generated near the source of leak, neither closed backs or noise canceling ones are going help. They don't affect the sound picked up by the Whisper's microphone.
