bigjim So do you not think providing stinger missiles to the "Freedom Fighters" in Afghanistan in the 80's to shot down MI24's was not a form of bounty on Soviet Military personnel? The only difference is it was technology not cash being used. I was stationed in Afghanistan at the Embassy when the Soviets invaded. I know who we paid and what we paid them with. The word bounty is being used for it's political value. Afghanistan is and was not our Father's War. Dennis

Thanks RV I already use a 16GB thumb drive for each laptop. I was just looking to find out your thoughts on creating a new one with the Windows 2004 build installed? Not that big of a deal. Dennis

Thanks Darryl No hesitation just not sure if I need to or not. Dennis

Really No one thinks that with the new Windows 2004 build you should make a new repair/recovery disk? Dennis
-
Ok I created new system image backups for both laptops today. With the 2004 build for windows 10 on both laptops now do I need to create repair/recover disks now? Dennis

I can remember upgrading in 1988 a IBM 8088 that my wife's company upgraded from and gave to her which came with two 5.25 inch floppies. I removed 1 of the 5.25 floppies and replaced it with a half height 3.5 in floppy and a half height 10 Mg hard drive thinking I would never fill that baby up. Man was I wrong. I also installed a 2400 baud Modem thinking I was in the tall cotton then. I may have upgrade from 128mg to 512mg of Ram but I don't remember for sure. Dennis

The 2004 version came out for the DW's ACER laptop and I upgraded to it yesterday with no problems. It was already installed on my HP laptop again I have had no problems with it. It did take 4 hours or so on the ACER to complete. Dennis

Microsoft is blocking the Windows 10 May 2020 Update on lots of devices

The 2004 upgrade/update went down last night without any problems on my HP laptop. It did take forever but working great this morning. Dennis -
Does anyone see a problem with AARIS Surfboard Modem/Routers? Are these generally considered good units? Dennis

Ok Guys thanks for the input. I am changing my recommendation to the following and I look forward to your suggestions as to my choice. ARRIS Surfoard SBG 8300 DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit Cable Moden & AC2350 Dual Band WiFi Router. Approved for Cox and Ifinity. Plus it is cheaper than the C7800 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M9J3XW2?tag=techiepassion-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1 Dennis

I have but decided it worked best for Katy keeping it as simple as possible with 1 combo unit. It will take a little longer to pay for itself by getting the Netgear C7800 but I think in the long run it will work out better for her. Dennis

My niece who just finished her Masters in Special Education for the Deaf at U of U is setting up her first real home now that she has a real job. She is not doing cable TV but streams all her TV via Apple TV and hulu I believe. Anyway looking to buy her own Modem/Router Combo instead of renting from Cox's. In researching the top 5 modem/routers combos for 2020 and looking at the list of modem/routers on the Cox web page I have narrowed it down to 3 off the Top 5. Motorola MG7700 which is 24x8 DOCSIS 3.0 $169.99 on Amazon and from $160 to 239.99 on E-bay Netgear C6250 which is 16x4 DOCSIS 3.0, Which was listed as Best for Streaming. New Egg $150 Amazon $89.99 Netgear C7800 which is 32x8 The only one that is DOCSIS 3.1. Which was listed as Best for Gigablast. This the most expensive at $329 on Amazon and $369 on by E-bay and from Dell. This is the one I want to recommend. More expensive but with newer Tech at a 3.1 which should handle upcoming upgrades at Cox and Infinity. Why buy old Tech at 3.0 when it is already outdated especially since you will be streaming everything you watch on TV. Any thoughts or recommendation would be appreciated. Dennis

Hey RV Are you all unpacked in the Springs? Stay safe. Dennis

If I had to guess I would say you will not be able to have it registered as an motorhome. You will not have any of the listed requirements most states require. Sleep, cooking, refrig, bathroom, external power hookup etc. That might have changed since we did our Volvo 770 back in 2004/5. What state are you going to try and register it in as a motorhome? Good Luck cool project. Dennis

It is so nice to see the old guys get together and talk story about "What it was like back in the Day" or to listen to those "Remember When" Stories Dennis
