  1. Along the lines of Rickeieio's comment: Straight road, clear skys. Story.
  2. If I was looking at doing this, I'd start with a daycab, dress out the box with a folding bunk to get the RV tags, then have a dual purpose box, and a reasonable length truck.
  3. We typically overnight near one, while making miles, but we try to leave the actual lot spaces to the professional drivers. It's usually quieter a bit further out, the exercise makes the morning coffee taste that much better, and gives the dog more room for business.
  4. Supposed to be dry on the Rack & Pinion, prevents road grime from sticking. Lube the bearings (or bushings) the rod goes through.
  5. More connections means more fun when the lights don't work. There is a bit of an increase in room, but from what I've seen, the Jakalopee isn't overly small for the wire fill.
  6. House machines all have the same thing in their manuals. The one nobody ever reads. How many get moved every weekend, with the bolt kit installed?
  7. For any and all Alaska-bound travellers, we're back in Grande Prairie for the summer. If you need a hand with anything, from camping recommendations, service help, or just coffee, please get in touch.
  8. Bigger issue than the simple wiring between the t-stat and the devices, is the connectivity issues of devices like nest. Most of their optional functionality goes out the window without an internet connection. If you plan to have a mobile hotspot, always powered and providing connection to the t-stat, then they function much as advertised. If not, then no, they won't perform as advertised.
  9. In 100 Mile House, BC, wiggling wires inside the local OSB mill. Had a refreshing glass of spring water with forum members BluByYou, Greg and Lynn.
  10. As Vern said, there shouldn't be full 12v applied. except by the emergency switch. The controller limits voltage out, to limit loop current. You posted, above, that loop current was 2.4 amps, but at what voltage? I'm just trying tp wrap my head around what your hands are doing. For Vern, (and the rest): Hayes manual. Regardless of a pendulum or not, full output should be achievable with a manual application. EDIT to add: Don't see mention of a pendulum in the link I provided.
  11. With the info you've given, I can offer no input. What was the current readings, individually on each brake feed, and collectively on the main trunk line of the trailer?
  12. It's simply a way to move heat from the tubing to the air. Don't worry about the missing Al, as much as where did the missing material go?
  13. Or, just post them here, for inclusion in the Resource Guide. Sheesh.
  14. A recent article from Alberta Oil magazine gives some names for Canadian companies doing pipeline inspections. Be aware that the distances between "civilization" can be quite large up here.
  15. Working our way back North. Cranbrook, BC tonight, then Red Deer, AB for the weekend. Visit with middle son.
  16. As a member just a little older than Xscapers is targeting, I crossed the $50k mark sometime in late May or early June. My Canadian 401k equivalent is well fed, bills are paid as soon as they hit the inbox, and I still don't have pockets full of $$$. I'm not ready to quit yet.
  17. Rotary Park closed for the season, so we moved south of the Wapiti River to finish off some work projects. The leaves are about 2/3 gone, but there's still some beautiful colours left on a sunny afternoon.
  18. As a service/repairman, I wouldn't waste the time or money on one. We installed a bunch, at a customer"s request. Due to training issues for the end user, we had many, many failures. You don't want to have to work on one that's failed. The thought was to save money by reducing Honey Wagon trips, but repair trips ate any savings.
  19. Hi, Jack. We'll probably be heading South through SLC in a little over a month from now, depending on the weather in Canada. We'd be pleased to keep in touch, and take you for a ride/drive.
  20. Pop over to the test post section. He has a few more pics of his set-up. The Resource Guide has a few, too. Not Vern's rig, but similar design Similar, but longer. Man, I forget how many cool trucks we've had on here.
  21. Nice work. I do love me some build pics.
  22. Did I miss something, George? We're still in the North for the summer, then headed to Phoenix area for the cold season. Rita will house-sit the 5er there while I fly for work, keeping her in the lifestyle she wants to become accustomed to. Wave as you fly to Ontario, I'll keep an eye peeled.
  23. We'll be pulling up stakes this morning, heading from Kelowna to Red Deer. Will be in Red Deer for a couple days, visiting middle son.
