  1. Been full time for years. Never a problem. We do use our credit union though. It literally a non issue
  2. Just in the last few weeks took my Class A. 20 minutes maybe. Not long. Had to chock wheels, put out "flares". Drive around block. Back up. Return to station. No mention of change.
  3. If it has a pendulum in it, shouldn't it be mounted certain position. Mine just laying on floor behind pull out pocket
  4. My brakes aren't smooth with the Hayes unit. It stops fine. Initial jerk and won't adjust out. This under light braking which would be normal. Quick stop smooth. Has me considering the Direct Link also.
  5. I'm hanging out in Livingston Escapees waiting for next welding job. Park rather busy for the heat here.
  6. I go for months and never see sun. I do take D2 vitamins. Also take a daily vitamin. I eat healthy and am 60. Work 7 nights a week 10 hour shifts, some jobs 12 hour shifts. Have right much energy. Don't so any "energy drinks" or such.
  7. We have a 2003 Grand Freedom. It is just shy of 40'. Great unit. Never a problem with us and orginal owner never had problems. We did replace an ac due to a condensation problem.
  8. On the screws, blue loctite will hold. Red will require heat to remove. Kept a lot of logging saws together with blue. That is a lot of vibration also. Be sure it is clean first.
  9. I'm sorry you took it that way. I was simply showing all those who believe the manufactures don't design or put major input into the building of chassis how mistaken they are. This is the only detailed video of a chassis I know of or can find. It was never my intention to advertise for any manufacture. Very few people are going to buy custom build units. They aren't cheap.
  10. I copy and pasted link. Did not intend for a video to automatically play. If this isn't acceptable please fix or delete.
  11. Believe ya'll are missing an important fact. Jack made a you tube video on his chassis and running gear on his latest New Horizon. He goes in detail showing the changes in the chassis to accommodate his design. Point is the manufacturer cannot build his unit without designing his chassis first. Lippert would not know without input from manufacturer about how heavy steel needs to be or any bracing or placement of bays, etc.
  12. I agree with you some what. New Horizons I would only compare with Space Craft and Continental Coach. But I am tired of this.
  13. I really don't have a dog in this fight. We likely will never buy anything with a Lippert chassis but it not because of Lippert. Units we want don't use them. Really for the percentage of failures they have it is not significant. I was never impressed with OR. That is me and sure some like them and I criticize no one for buying one. Ones I personally looked at had a very thin chassis and it was 10' beam, over 40' long. Cable slide outs was also factor.
  14. Can't look at bridges and compare to chassis. Bridges you refer to are arched. The arched concept makes it rigid and rigid means strength. The holes is to loose weight. A straight beam with holes loose strength. You will never see a straight support beam with anything larger than a 1/4" threaded hole with a bolt in it. An open hole will be reinforced, the hole weakens the beam.
  15. Guys, I have been welding commercial for 40 years. You can gusset light weight steel and it still will crack if not thick enough. Steel flexing will crack over time. Gussets help, not taking away from that, but there is a limit to what they can do. I also do not disagree that their is faulting welding that causes much of these problems. They won't pay for quality welders and it cost prohibited. I blame it on the consumer. We want cheap. This is my "defense" of Lippert. Consumer wants cheap and gets it. QC isn't cheap either. That is severely lacking in this industry. It raises the price of the units. Again customer drive this price. I did call Tom Peck at DRV shortly after we got ours and asked about the chassis being a Lippert unit and it so much beefier than the competitor. He said they specked it out this way. I do not know about others but DRV does or he lied to me. Now my Teton has a very strong looking chassis. Don't know who made it.
  16. It is not really Lipperts fault. We that buy the cheap units and continue to buy the cheap units is the major problem. The major frame issues started when they flooded the market with cheap units. This is also when the ones that made quality units were forced out of business. I also would not weld for peanuts. We are paid good we that are good. Until the buyer demands better and I mean with our dollars not mouths, nothing will change. We quit buying problematic American cars and bought better foreign. American manufacturers got hit in the wallet. They changed and we got better than ever American cars. Only the buyer will change this.
  17. I have stated this before, you will not see quality welding as long as welders pay continue up. I had 3 raises this past year. Manufacturers cannot pay my wages. A good welder isn't staying with a cheap company as long as wages are so high. On a full week, 7/12 6k is my gross.
  18. DRV frame issues are rare. Some has happened but it is actually hard to even find. Lippert builds all of DRVs frames. Heartland had lots of frame issues and from my reading took care of them even out of warranty. This is a good company. So why is this so if the manufacturer does spec it out that way. DRV uses stacked tubular steel, Heartland used 10-12 thin I beam. Lippert builds them both.
  19. Lippert Frames are used by the majority of units. The manufacturer can specify how strong it is though. DRV uses Lippert and it is very heavy duty. DRV specs it out this way. I have never considered Open Range full time quality. Many do but many have problems like you have. They are designed to be light weight. This doesn't fare well with full time units. Please understand I am not downing them. I have looked at them and really like them. Just too light for our consideration.
  20. My Teton is 3 axles and it is a pleasure to tow. Yes, there is greater roll resistance with more rubber on ground so you will burn more fuel. You will have much more caring capacity. I also do not find a disadvantage in backing a 3 axle trailer. We also are considering upgrading to IS so take soon good advise here and get it now. God bless and Happy new year
  21. I work full time also.We stayed in Louisiana for 1.5 years on a job. working 13/12's, that's 2 days off a month. No way I could tow to Texas and get inspection done. Some years most work in Texas other Louisiana. We left NC because of this. It would effect us greatly.
  22. Someone posted about NC getting it right. Until last year we were residents of NC. It was near impossible to get tags if you were out of town. At one time I had to drive 800 miles just for an inspection. NC would not honor the states inspection. Most recent was Louisiana. We submitted an inspection from the parish we were in and they rejected it. Had to go to another parish and get inspection. Thought we had left this behind us. We are Texas residents now.
