  1. RVnotyet, If you have other choices to look at give them a second glance, those are small size tanks. However I do not know what kind of camping you’ll be doing. For me I would want the biggest capacity available, just a thought have you looked at truck campers.i have had one since 1999 and capacity is good on holding tanks and fresh water too. I know I can last a week on the soft sand beach taking it easy on showers. you can take the camper off and have a truck or have a camper on and pull a trailer. Lots of versatility and pretty good mileage if you get the right set up too.
  2. Thanks Mid Thanks for the Tire Brand check, the Alpine does have a 6 point auto leveling system it does have G rated, looking for Brand. Thanks mid Mo traveler!

  4. You are correct, I was trying to remember any memorable CGs that we backed into ,the only one was on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, the Ranger told us to go down the road and pull off there is a fire road, go down a bit and park any where you want. Well I was a tad bit apprehensive but went ahead and wow,we backed up to marble Canyon what a view, one one the things I’ll miss about having a truck camper. i thought about it just don’t think I could full time in a truck camper.besides I don’t want to travel like that anymore . I’m stopping to smell the 🌹.
  5. Thanks for the vote of confidence! We sat in both the Montana and the Alpine. The furniture is exactly the same ,the layout is the same it’s just trim work that’s different. I could like either one ,the Alpine just felt , like ok your home relax.
  6. While we’re on the subject...lol one of the things that we both like about the Keystone Alpine 37fl is that you walk in and the living room is up top and looks like a prop a propper livingroonm. this is not the common set up mostLR are in the rear and I just thought that’s that caked into a nice spot and the and was a view of a lake or a mountain we would See it. Is this a big deal? Is this why most lr are rear?
  7. Thanks Kirk, I do want to be able to return to a residential setting if God forbid health issues force it. The return on used RV units is frightening, I haven’t signed on the dotted line yet, so what ever is supposed to happen will happen. Which means if I’m supposed to have a used high end 5 th wheel, than somehow one will present it self to me in the course of getting ready. Other wise it’s a moderately priced Keystone.
  8. Thanks for the vote of confidence, I seem to be feeling like a pauper because I am not getting a DVI or a New Horizons trailer. I sure would like to have one with a heavy duty truck and a car on the deck, but I don’t know that I want to go all in at $250,000 to introduce myself to fulltiming. I feel like I’m overdoing it by buying a brand new Keystone. But I’d like to treat myself and wife to someplace special and new. I also don’t want regrets that I did not buy a Super high end unit either. I have watched Kens videos about his New Horizons unit and they sure are impressive.
  9. I don’t believe it’s possible to tow a DRV 5 th wheel with my current truck. As it only has 120,00 miles I struggle with the thought of getting rid of it.
  10. thankyou all so much I got a boost of confidence just by reading the last bunch of replies. someone asked,I had a 2003 Dodge Dually with 120,000 miles on the truck and 20,000 on a brand new motor(long story bypass filter failed spun bearing) Cummins so I have a very stout truck with no pollution,no cat,no def fluid. I hauled 30,000 lbs of wet compost a month ago so I’m pretty sure the 18,000 from the 5th will be ok. going to upgrade fuel storage to 160. Air ride seats, cameras, nav. System. maybe a hauler bed? If they don’t cost too much. thanks for the info about parks, and yes it’s all push button set up and auto leveling now..
  11. Thanks guys ,I might ad I have trailered things like, bulldozers, and smaller rvs. have also camped in most states via the ez maneuvering truck camper. I’m sure I’ll get used to it .
  12. Going full time next spring or summer hopefully. Right now I am emptying the house and lightning the load as they say. what I am afraid of is picking the wrong kind of RV picking the wrong size. Well I’ll start by saying since I have a perfectly good tow vehicle it makes sense to get a 5th wheel. I did a ton of on line research and just went to the Hershey show. We looked at Class As of all sorts and 5ths of various manufacturers. What we really felt comfortable in was what I picked out on line. A Keystone Alpine 37FL just love it. so what am I scared of ,first I never towed something that large, second I’m reading and I know the internet is not the most reliable place for info but I’m fearful we will not fit in State Parks or National parks or COE areas. The main goal is to winter in the Rio Grand Valley close to the coast. i don’t want to make a mistake and have buyers remorse.........or worse having to sell in a year or two because I did not think it out right..but fulltiming needs some amount of space.....someone talk some sense into me....please.
  13. Hello all, My wife and I are in the process of going full time, we have traveled cross country over the years and just never spent enough time at it. Do with property taxes in the “double digets “ and a empty nest of 6 bedrooms 5 baths it’s time to move on. we are in the process of emptying the house out, having held several yard sales to shake out as much as we could, now we will have a moving sale to try and rid ourselves of unwanted furniture and other goods. Luckily we own a few acres up in a rural part of the state with a log cabin and the plan is to purchase a sea land container and put stuff that we might want in the future if we don’t want to be on the road in 10 years. We have our rig picked out a Keystone Alpine 37FL ,we love the layout, storage and room.we looked at many brands and class A homes and just felt at home in it. Will be fully optioned including washer and dryer, and generator. Since our 2003 Dodge Dually has only 120,000 miles on it I may put larger fuel tanks in for a total of 165 gallons. Air Ride seats may be added also. A recent yard sale visitor suggested joining a campground association? Can anyone pipe in with the pros and cons with that suggestion? I thank you for reading and please offer up any help. With any luck and help from above we would like to be on the road next summer.
