Is it possible to take a ferry from Everett Washinton to Port Hanlock? And if so, how much is the cost for my rig and toad? I'm trying to get from the western end of Hwy 2 to the Olympic National Park and Hwy 101! Any suggestions apprecated.

We are finally retiring and planning our first road trip out west in our Escape 5.0 (21' fiberglass 5th wheel). Leaving early July 2026 and return end of October 2026. We have a small trailer with small tanks (28 fresh and grey, 30 black), propane, and solar. We are not new to camping but have never gone camping longer than 3 weeks because of work so super excited to plan our 4 month road trip from SE Indiana. We want to visit many of the National Parks such as Yellowstone, Yosemite, Sequoia, Bryce, etc, along with state parks, BML, and some boondocking.

My question is: Can we wing it with no reservations so we can be on our own schedule, or will that ruin our trip because we won't be able to find any place to camp?

We are planning the route but prefer not to have a schedule with reservations.

What are your experiences with traveling with no reservations? What are you recommendations?

	Thank you for your input!

It is about "Travel" but not in an RV.

Can't seem to find a road that will effectively and economically get me to Munich by the middle of December, so I'm going to have to fly.

Just as I was writing this I get a call from my Daughter who I will be visiting in Germany with my flight information. I do have the option of one "Checked" bag, but have planned on just using a "Backpack". I have a friend who travels this way and he has given me some pointers, but I keep forgetting to ask about where to find a good travel Backpack.

	Anyone here have suggestions?

My daughter has a different phone carrier than I do. Her "Boyfriend" has the same. He found out it was very expensive to take his phone to visit. I don't want to suffer the same charges when I go.

I spoke with my carrier and it would be $12 per day to add the ability to use my phone. I'm leaving it here in the states and when I get back I will turn it back on and call them to credit my account for no use. (which they said they would).

When I told her I wasn't bringing my phone she said I need one or one that does "Maps".

	Google search here I come.

Hello. My son and I live in Florida. We have RV'd to Carlsbad Caverns, Zion NP, Grand Canyon, Mammoth Cave, Arches NP, Moab, Yellowstone, Bryce NP, Indy 500, Nova Scotia, etc.. This summer we are limited in travel day hours due to a new family puppy that will be traveling with us, but we still want to get out and adventure. Our distance will most likely be limited to the south-east states this summer I am thinking maybe wakeboard and fly fishing lessons in Arkansas or Missouri, along with a couple of day hikes that we can tackle together. What other adventures can you suggest to keep a 13 year old occupied and off the video consoles? I really want to hear your experiences.

The lodge and many other buildings at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon have been lost to a forest fire. I am glad we got to see the place when it was safe and the weather was great. We drove down from where we were camped in Kanab UT and spent the entire day. During the night drive back to camp we were fearful one of the many deer on the side of the road would jump in front of the car. We planned to go back to the North Rim and spend more time, but if we do, it will be very different. We all lost something special to the fires.

Have established a trip with our Larger than Life Class 8 Truck and Camper to Black Hills. Set up for Ft WELIKIT as has good reviews and is maneuverable, have the Typical Tourist Trap identified sites of Rushmore, Crazyhorse, Deadwood and the Custer Nat'l Park for ride time on our Harley, will be watching weather there for that week for extended turns to Devil's Tower, Badlands, Wall, Sturgis(OFF Season) and around surrounding countryside. Any additional Must See? Or Must Do? Suspect the trip will be less than desirable as to Bland thru NE or SD from our MO Home region, will be returning dropping down thru WY to CO to visit Brother and his bride at Greeley then I-70 return home. Wife will be a Sleeper tenant I Suspect as return.

My wife and I fulltimed from 2014 to 2023 with a 40 ft 5th wheel towed by an HDT with a smart car riding on it. We came across opportunities to visit places on rough roads etc that neither the smart car or the Volvo HDT could navigate. After being settled in a stick and bricks retirement community for over a year, we got "hitch itch" and bought a smaller travel trailer (Outdoors RV Back Country 25DVS T) and a F-350 4wd to tow it.

I have seen posts on social media and forums where fellow RVrs went to great places that we couldn't consider in a smart car. I also recall turning our smart car around during our own travels because the road ahead was inappropriate. Unfortunately, I did not think to keep a list of such places.

I am hoping readers can suggest places in the US or Canada they think are worth visiting that may require high ground clearance and/or a 4wd vehicle. The trailer is capable of fairly rough roads and boon docking, so both day trips in the truck and camping opportunity suggestions are welcome.

	Thank you in advance!

We are headed down I 29 from ND shortly and am wondering about a couple cities. Is Omaha NE and Kansas City MO alright to drive a 28' Class C, no toad through or should I find alternate routes around them? I hate traffic and don't handle heavy traffic well, especially during any rush hour traffic. Headed south-east of Mobil, AL. One trip planner takes me near Ft Smith but a different gps plotter takes me through Memphis, TN. Gulfport area is our destination, have no intentions of spending any time sight seeing along the way this trip.
We had originally planned to go to Alaska this year, but circumstances dictated otherwise, so we're planning for next year. While talking with a long-time Escapee member who has been to Alaska several times, he mentioned that years ago groups of Escapees would put together their own caravans to various places. He mentioned several trips to various places with 6-30 rigs involved. According to him, that was the norm 20 years ago. To me, that seems the ideal way to go to Alaska - with a small group that is setting their own schedule.

What do the rest of you think? Is this an idea that can return? Ideally, there should be one person/couple with experience or knowledge of those little, out-of-the-way places that ought not be missed. I'd be willing to be a contact person and researcher. If there is interest in learning more about how it was done back then I can ask my neighbor. He is at Happy Hour nearly every day.
