  1. As already stated you must have an address , even if you have everything you can emailed you still must provide a legit address. What will happen when stuff is mailed to that address? Even junk must be “handled” Fortunately you aren’t the first person to think you don’t need one. That’s why you asked here from people who know. , right? This isn’t new ground here. Use a friend or family member or a mail service. It isn’t expensive at all especially if you rarely need mail forwarded. There are good ones right here in Florida… End of story read further through the mobile rv site you were provided. We have 2 separate ( for awhile 3) Verizon and att hotspots. And att unlimited phone .. hotspot on phone limited to 40 gig How much you need will dictate costs ..my wife daily video conferences and all our tv is internet… between 2-300 gig rv mobile internet lists all the current options. More detail if you join. if your serious .. join. safe travels !
  2. Jcussen I agree , if the person you describe never has internet or very infrequently then sure. I suppose I wouldn’t blindly trust and find out months later, but for most people that just doesn’t exist. That’s all others are saying . Being in the gone merchant marines isn’t normal. Being in a remote area of Oregon for weeks isn’t normal. If your that remote how do you know what the bill is or find a way to pay? ( how does one even have bills :)) I trust but verify .as already said I get the email well ahead I’ve never been away from cell service more than a day or two and we’ve camped in some “remote” locations. Most people fit into that category. Those that don’t , well , go a different way , but I’m tech savvy and fully involved in my finances .. for those like minded , I think auto pay is the way to go . Some people seem to always have issues etc with billing. I don’t know why but we have never been in that position. I have had credit card numbers stolen sure , again one call and charges reversed new card issued ( next day to my camp location) no questions. But even that was 8 years ago before I went full time. Since then , full time , and over $5000 in charges and autopays a month to multiple cards ... it’s worked out great. Lucky ? Maybe. as you say everyone needs to find their happy place, I can only add my experience to the thought process.
  3. Yes , never had an issue and that way I never foget or pay the wrong amount... ESPECIALLY if I’m out in the boonies or forget to check
  4. I find the article, in my case, not even close to accurate . For the past 5 years full time and before that in the sticks and bricks I use autopay on virtually every bill. All of my credits cards have phone apps as do all the Banks I deal with. All the Utilities, Verizon ATT etc all have apps and ALL of them send me a E mail or text with the billing amount well ahead of the billing date for my review. I can do all that on my phone. Any that will accept a credit card Cell TV etc go on my % cash back cards saving me more. I NEVER have a deduction form my checking I haven't known the amount in advance and can go online to stop the WD or change it. The Credit cards are all set to pay the balance if I don't intervene because of an error and I've never had to in 5 years and more. I've eliminated all the mail I can and 90% of what's left is junk I have the mail forwarding toss or just duplicates of what I already can see and print online. I write so few checks I have to Think where it is I left the checkbook. I run Quicken and can update it daily if I want to confirm every charge that way also. In fact all our credit cards notify me via text to my phone of ANY charge normally before the cashier hands me the receipt. All Data is on phone or via our 2 hotspots. I haven't used park data in years. Life is Good Im confident the article was written for many who don't budget ,don't track expenses or review all their charges. Not a "safety" issue, a responsibility one.
  5. This is how we purchase many things if the interest rate is fixed and acceptable. I have had the ability to pay cash but it would deplete my cash investments. As long as the money you have that you would have paid cash with doesn't "go away" , and is secure and possibly making more interest , its not much different than paying cash up front. The risk is in what you consider "secure". I would insure that the loan can be paid back at any time without penalty. I have bought several cars this way as the best price almost always is if I financed with them ( and yes the rates were at least competitive , cash is no longer king) I take their deal, I am sure with a bank discount or kickback to them, then within a month pay the loan off (at no penalty) or refinance with my cu for a slightly better interest rate at no cost. The reason this may not work is Many( most) People are not good at keeping the "cash"available to pay off the loan .... they buy something then forget that money was spent and use that cash for something else or Lose the money in a bad investment. Things then go sideways.
