bobsallyh
Some friends of ours are booked for a week at Riverside in Laughlin. They called and no problem coming in for the week. They and another couple have a 5 day reservation for Sam's Town KOA. Called to check on that situation. Both were told "you may have one night only". The Avi Casino in Laughlin is closed but their KOA is open according to an email we received yesterday.

All who are able are asked to work from home and schools are closed but sending work home and online and providing meals to those who need them. It is very serious here and growing, partly due to far more testing and actions are being taken as prememptory to slow this thing to manageable levels. palmeris
Escapees RV Club Member Notice: Rainbow Parks and SKP Co-Op Openings and Availability The Escapees board of directors has been working non-stop to ensure that all the many factions of our service network are running as smoothly as possible during this very turbulent time. As most of you know, some of our services involve the cooperation of others. We have administered policies across the Rainbow Parks system in an effort to keep residents, guests, and staff safe while still remaining open to those needing a place to stay. You can read more about these policies and procedures on our website at https://www.escapees.com/coronavirus/. At this time, all Rainbow Parks are open and accepting new reservations.  We consider our park system a critical component to full-time RVers’ peace of mind, and it hurts to see some of them still frantically searching for a safe haven to shelter. Of course, SKP Co-Ops are a key piece of our park system, but it is important to recognize that they are individual cooperatives, each governed by their own board of directors. We have been in contact with each park, sharing the policies and procedures we are personally implementing into our Rainbow Parks system, and have stressed the importance of taking care of the community during these difficult times. As of March 20, co-op parks are doing the following: ·        SKP Saguaro in Benson, Arizona is currently closed to new reservations because they are at capacity, with both leaseholder lots and short-term spaces fully occupied. However, they are offering their dump stations and water facilities to those in need during their office hours, which are 8:00AM- 1:00PM daily. ·        Rover’s Roost in Casa Grande, Arizona is still open to new reservations until they are at capacity. They, too, are offering their dump stations and water facilities during normal business hours. 8 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm daily. ·        KOFA Ko-op in Yuma, Arizona is currently closed to new reservations. ·        Jojoba Hills Co-Op in Aguanga, California is closed to new reservations. Reservations beginning between March 17 and March 31 have been cancelled. However, they are offering use of their dump stations and water facilities during normal business hours. 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday; 9 am to 1 pm, Saturday; closed Sunday. ·        Park Sierra Co-Op in Coursegold, California is closed to new reservations, but they are honoring existing reservations. Their dry camping area, limited to six sites, serves as a quarantine area. All new guests must stay in dry camping for a minimum of 14 days. Their dump stations and water facilities are available to travelers during normal business hours. 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday; 8 am to 12 pm, Sunday. ·        Florida SKP Resort in Wachula, Florida remains open to new reservations. However, RVers considering staying here should review their adjusted park rules to ensure they are willing to comply. Guests who violate these rules will be asked to leave. The co-op is also offering their dump stations and water facilities to travelers during their normal business hours.  9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm, Monday to Saturday; 9 am to 12 pm, Sunday. ·        SKP Pair-A-Dice in Pahrump, Nevada is closed due to being at capacity. Water facilities and dump stations are available to visitors during their normal business hours. 8 am to 12 pm and 12:30 pm to 4 pm, Monday to Saturday; closed Sunday  ·        The Ranch in Lakewood, New Mexico is closed due to being at capacity. Travelers are welcome to use their dump stations and water facilities during normal business hours. 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm, Monday to Friday; closed Saturday and Sunday. ·        Timber Valley in Sutherland, Oregon is open to new reservations until they reach capacity. Both now and once capacity is reached, they are keeping their dump stations and water facilities open for travelers during normal business hours 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm, Monday to Friday; closed Saturday and Sunday. ·        Alamo Area SKP Co-Op in Hondo, Texas is closed to new reservations. Travelers may use their dump stations and water facilities during normal business hours. 8:30 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm, Monday to Friday; 8 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm, Saturday; closed Sunday. ·        Evergreen Coho in Chimacum, Washington is closed to new reservations. Visitors may use the dump stations and water facilities during normal business hours 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday; 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 3 pm, Thursday; closed Saturday and Sunday. In addition to working with the SKP Co-Op parks, Escapees RV Club is working with RVIA and other industry leaders on their respective COVID-19-related initiatives. Specific to the closure of state and federal parks, we support efforts to enable them to remain open. Please know this is a controversial issue. There are some groups who fear that if state and federal parks remain open to travelers, those visitors will promote the spread of COVID-19 from cities (where it is largely impacting) to rural areas. Moreover, there are concerns that some public parks lack the staffing to accommodate an influx of visitors, especially if any of their staff become ill. In addition to the closure of public parks, we are witnessing the closure of privately-operated parks. You can read more on this statement at https://www.escapees.com/coronavirus/. Also, if you have information you think we should know or resources you would like to see added to the webpage linked above, there is a submission form on that page. Submissions are reviewed several times per day and resources added as seen fit. Bill&Anneli
Thank goodness for the internet - reading and participating in these lively discussions via the key board helps keep he boredom at bay and pass the time a little faster as we self-quarantine. As an update, we are staying put in Gulf Shores Alabama. Yesterday, we checked around with another 7-8 private camp grounds in this area, and all that we checked on were still open. All had LOTS of empty spots...We only found one that still honors the winter rates (the higher summer rates go into effect around here April 1 normally). The state park here was still open as of yesterday and as far as we know no plans on closing, lots of empty spots there too (its a huge park with about 500 camp sites). We asked a Ranger we met and she said she had not heard of any closure of the state park. Beaches, restaurants etc are all closed so its not your usual experience/vacation, but it is a safe place to stay will full hook-ups until this crisis settles down. I think there are lots of places like this around the country. So instead of spreading more dooms-day info - why don't we all support eachother by posting where places are still open for RV-ers who can't just "go home". Seems like a much better use of this forum than all the people posting about closures.... It seems obvious that before heading anywhere you call ahead to see if its still open... Stay safe and healthy, and please try not to spread negativity, there is plenty of anxiety right now and we all can use some reassuring words... DJ Geister
Hello Full Timers! We like many of you have begun full timing although we do still have our home in Minnesota so we are fortunate that we have a place to land. I have heard from many full-timers about the challenges of finding a place to weather all the closures. We are just finishing up helping a small, privately owned RV park in northern Arizona, just off of I-40. The current owner has just acquired the property (only 6 weeks ago) and it does not have many amenities. They are in the process of fixing and updating, but what they do have are open sites and full hookups. There is a Safeway, laundromat, Wal-Mart and other businesses very close as well as drive-ins and take out food nearby. The bathrooms/showers are closed and it is not fancy but they do offer long term rental. It is an option for those of you searching for a place to park. I will work with the management to set a discounted rate for Escapees. Please give them a ring if they can help--928-587-3222 Take It Easy RV Park on the corner of I-40 and Transcon Lane in Winslow Arizona. They can be found on Campendium and Yelp. agesilaus
Alachua County Florida (Gainesville area the first medium sized city on I75 coming from the GA border) is supposedly enforcing home detention except for 'essential businesses'. However after 24 hours the only result I heard is that there was a line wrapped all the way around a local supermarket to the rear side of the store. Before their 'helpful' policy there were no lines, a lot of bare shelves, but still enough stuff that no one was going without (except for paper products). Otherwise just about every type of shop you can think about is apparently essential since they are all open. Auto Parts stores, Hardware stores and so on The Florida Governor announced he will not be doing a state lock down with this exception: Anyone entering Florida from NY or NJ will be expected to enter a 14 day self quarantine. So be aware if you are coming from there, since almost all the cases here originated from those people. fpmtngal
For people in the western US, BLM has not closed their dispersed camping areas.  I’ve never stayed this late in Quartzsite so I don’t know what’s normal but there are quite a few people still around the various camping areas, both LTVA and 14-day free around the town.  Right now the weather is excellent but I assume it will be too hot for dry camping in a couple of weeks, and I haven’t decided which direction to head to next. Nice to know that many private campgrounds are still open for new clients - I’ve run into a couple that weren’t open to outsiders.
Vladimir
Just drove last week from the Mexican border to the Canadian border....more or less. That was interesting. So the information is somewhat dated.....From Benson to Wenatchee, basically on 93 until Idaho  March 18th in Arizona. It was pretty much business as usual. Parking lot fairly full at stores and businesses. Lots of traffic on the roads. Stopped for the night at a BLM campground and it was fairly full. But it looked like lots of snowbirds were staying there rather than moving on.   March 19th in Nevada. Pretty much shut down. The Governor closed all the casinos, brothels, churches and other gathering places. Highway 93 heading to Idaho had long "wagon trains" of trucks and Canadians heading home. Really surprised at the number of Canadian snowbirds that were heading north. I guess when the PM said come back home....they all started heading north. Going through Ely I was surprised to hear on the radio that the town had two cases. One case, definitely related to overseas travel. Camped on BLM land outside Alamo. Only RV there at 3:30 in the afternoon and then had 15 other rigs join me by 5:00 pm. Alamo grocery store was picked fairly clean. At Jackpot there were people that looked like they were going to boondock there at night. Casino was closed. Campground was open at that point. I decided to head into Idaho for a BLM campsite instead. Oh, driving was definitely an adventure. Almost saw a 15 vehicle RV pile-up outside of Wells!!! Did see another single vehicle that rolled off the road around Wells. I tried to stay away from everybody on the road!!!  March 20th in southern Idaho. What pandemic?? Stayed at a BLM campground just a short distance above the Nevada line. It was pretty full with locals fishing and riding their quads. Traffic looked a little lighter than usual going through Boise. There are virus cases in Boise and a large cluster in Sun Valley. I guess those private jets brought it in.  March 21st in north-east Oregon. Lots less traffic according to the gas station attendent (they pump your gas in Oregon). Campground I stayed in was a "resort' RV park that was pretty much empty. No contact with anybody. Just a note on the office door on which sites to take. They were staggered so that nobody was next to each other. You paid by dropping your registration and money through a mail slot. Not many people in the campground.   March 22nd in Washington state, somewhat lighter traffic, not sure if that was due to a Sunday or a virus. Pretty much everything was open.  Today March 26th the "shelter in place order" goes into affect in Washington state. Pretty quiet around Wenatchee. Several new cases and another death from the local extended care facility. Washington state owned public lands are ALL closed to overnight camping. Individual National Parks are also closing campgrounds and even closing overnight camping in Wilderness Areas.  Not sure the status of private campgrounds. Yesterday in Washington state, the Governor FINALLY issued a shelter in place order for two weeks after several requests from the medical community. There is much less traffic on the roads. It is suppose to be essential traffic only.  People are going outdoors for walking and using local trails.   Hope this information, though dated, is helpful. It does give you the wide variety in response from the local state governments.
