Al F
Yes this engine is in a motorhome, but I figured the HDT group know more about diesel engines than motorhome folks. I am seeing 10% Bio diesel in some gas stations (Walmart/Murphy for example). Is there any reason why I shouldn't use that in this older engine a 2005/2006 Cat 350. I have run a 3/4 of a tank full once on our cross country trip from Texas to Oregon. Alie&Jim's Carrilite
It shouldn't hurt anything. I run Murphy-Sams Club-Costco fuel all the time. I would have an extra fuel filter and wrench handy if needed. Darryl&Rita
If it hasn't seen those levels of bio fuel before, have an extra fuel filter handy. Higher bio levels can clean a lot of accumulated "shmeg" out of the fuel system, and overwhelm a filter. dan412
In Washington State it's hard to find diesel pump that doesn't have 10% biodiesel in it so I just run what they have. Al F
Thanks. I'll just run what they have then. Good news. I just changed the water separator & micron filter about 2500 miles ago. adept99
BTW - "shmeg" is a technical term usually accompanied by a colorful array of descriptive terms having to do with the lineage of the mechanical device being examined. Can apply to automotive, steam, aeronautical, and toe-jam. rickeieio
Hmmm... I thought "shmeg" was that dark lump that came out of the 5 gallon bucket of hydraulic fluid you were pouring in the funnel, refilling the rear end of a JD tractor. Just happened to me today. 😮 So, do I figure the new filters will catch it, or drain out 18 gallons of oil, hoping said lump comes out too?
