runaway parents
Just a heads up . IF you have a key for your basement on your Rv that has the number CH751 stamped on it. It is highly possible every body else dose . Might want to change those locks.

Dutch_12078
The universal "key" for thieves is usually a large screwdriver or small pry bar. Changing the locks won't help that... My previous DRV had barrel locks with a unique key (put on by previous owner). In reality if someone wants to steal from your basement I’d rather have them open with a 751 than pry open with a crowbar. You might have noticed those doors aren’t really much of a challenge for a thief. Big5er
10 years ago, at a rally, several of us were looking at a new demo trailer. Someone wondered, out loud, "I wonder what's in this compartment". Everyone else in the group pulled out their keys, and we looked in the compartment. Of course we locked it back when we were done being nosy. runaway parents
Well this proves one thing for sure locks keep honest people honest. Sweet Success brought up a good point the harder you make it for them to break in the more destructive they will get. Had a radio stolen out of our mustang they did a thousand dollars worth of damage to the dash board getting it out. I had it anchored in there with angle iron. This guy was determined to get it out. (But, could be a 1st time..."sometime"). Theft: - Guy with a 751 may "appear" to be the owner. However, no key or crowbar necessary - slot-head screwdriver can pry open most basement storage. Results in damaged door to repair. My pref = "thumb turn" (non locking) on doors. If you really want locking, there are other locking options from various suppliers. chirakawa
In a brief stint hanging out at a dealership, while they were working on my trailer, I found out that every RV entry door on the lot could be opened with the same key. That was only if the door lock itself was the only one locked. The deadbolt locks were unique to each individual unit. Lesson there was to lock the deadbolt if I want to slow down a thief at the entry door. Quote Everybody wanna hear the truth, but everybody tell a lie. Lesson there was to lock the deadbolt if I want to slow down a thief at the entry door. Again, some of the newer trailers have a touch pad lock with a keyed backup. Those keys are keyed differently for each lock, but I’m betting my key would probably open another pad somewhere out there, just not everyone. My protection from intrusion when I’m occupying the trailer is not the lock, it’s inside my trailer if you catch my drift. 😉 Quote 2006 Volvo 780 "Hoss" Volvo D12, 465hp, 1650 ft/lbs tq., ultrashift Bed Build by "JW Morgan's Custom Welding" 2017 DRV 39DBRS3 2013 Smart Passion Coupe "Itty Bitty" "Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. Dutch_12078
From what I've found in insurance company statistics over the years, the majority of RV thefts and vandalism occur while the units are in storage facilities. Pete Kildow
Only lock we have with the CH751, cover over the electrical cord reel. Basement doors and others are different keys. That's on a 2012 Heartland.
